Reduce RV Generator Exhaust and Noise

RV generators are a popular and convenient tool for providing instant power when you on the road, but close quarters at rallies, tailgate parties and at campgrounds create a need for a reduction in the noise and exhaust fumes that they generate. This is where Gen-turi comes in. The Gen-turi is made specifically for use with RV generators,* when the vehicle is at rest. It diverts nasty fumes away from the ground, where they can be inhaled by neighboring RVers and campers, allowing you all your comforts while remaining a good neighbor. As generator exhaust is vented above the roof line of the RV and is also air cooled in a patented process. Dilution of fumes leads to less rattle that is often transferred to the vehicle body, and then the surrounding area, resulting in reducing noise all around. The Gen-turi is also conveniently light weight at only nine pounds, and comes with its own soft storage bag.

How it Works

Exhaust "noise" comes from two sources: vibration and the sound made by the actual gases leaving the exhaust pipe. Most manufacturers mount generators in a manner that uses some type of rubber material to isolate the vibration of the generator. Even though the Gen-turi is rigidly secured to the exhaust system, rubber straps are used to stabilize the Gen-turi to the coach.

This prevents transferring the vibration noise of the generator system to the coach. As an added benefit, the noise made by the gases discharging from the generator exhaust pipe is diverted upward, above the roof line of the coach. As a result, in most installations, the exhaust system is actually quieter with the Gen-turi installed.

Answer:	This is a universal cable for this kind of socket. Check your socket. I don't own a Samsung TV, but 30 seconds of Googling was able to tell me that no, that TV uses a different socket and different type of plug.

Answer:	As the several reviewers alluded - the cable that is used makes all the difference. In the illustration you see some marking on the cable, the 75 degree marking doesn't correlate with better quality cables. For this application the cable should have a designation of SJ (a standard for power cords that you can look up at the Belden site) and 60 or 90 degrees as the temperature limit, and for the 12' and longer you want to limit the current to 12 Amps for 18 ga. wires. What I saw on the review picture is not uncommon in electrical cords out of China some 10-20 years ago. The internal insulation is a cheap thermoplastic and the copper was not annealed, so at the angle end, the heat of the forming not only weakened the insulation significantly, but hardened the copper making it much weaker when flexed. All power cables should wear an authentic UL AND CSA tag, showing compliance with the better standards. Yes, there are counterfeit UL Tags out there!!

Answer:	I've had instances when a regular outlet was not available at the campground power pedestal, so this adapter works great to provide that connection. You plug it into the 30 amp receptacle, and then plug your regular extension cord or appliance into the household outlet on the adapter. Just be sure that you don't exceed the 15 amp rating; I would make sure that the total of all devices (if you are using an extension cord or outlet strip) doesn't exceed 1800 watts total. I would not plug a space heater into this, because I'm pretty sure that most space heaters require more current than this adapter is designed for.

Answer:	Your RV cord should have a male end on it (as seen in the picture). If you have a 30 amp service, I believe you have two flat and one rounded connector. This plug will allow you to connect your 30 amp RV cord to a household type 15 (or 20) amp recepticle. DO NOT try to run A/C or microwave using this plug; it is not made for that amount of power. You can use it to run low draw items- lights, fans, etc.

Answer:	No, because in all likelihood the "source" of AC power when using this adapter to plug in to a standard 115V AC outlet is only rated for 15A max. Which means the load current that circuit can "safely" provide should not exceed 12A continuously. Most Air Conditioners, (and space heaters), other than "portable" units, are generally rated at higher amperage.

Answer:	Both John Matthews and John Lloyd are correct. How is that possible? The answer is that Amazon merges all of the reviews, and questions and answers, together when they have different models of the same product. This adapter comes in both three and four prong male-end plugs. Some generators need four prongs on the male end. However the Honda 2000i and 2200i generators, and some other small portable generators, need three prong plugs. The bottom line is: you need to check your generator and see what sort of a connector that it needs, then order the correct adapter accordingly.
