Answer: | Any member of this family, 2,4, 8 port can be hooked up to a stereo receiver. This is an un-powered mechanical switch that does not modify the signal in any way. You can use it for just audio, just video, or both. You can use it to send several signal sources to one input of the receiver or vice versa - one output to a variety of other devices (recorders, displays, etc.) Either way, you can only connect one device at a time to one other. One input at a time to the receiver, or the receiver to ONE downstream device at a time. There is no signal processing whatever, so the electrons can go either way. Note that this is intended as a line-level device, so you may hear noise pickup if using it at magnetic phono signal levels (or if you have a loose connection), and you may damage the device if you use this for speaker switching due to high currents when playing speakers loudly. This is only a mechanical switch and the electrons do not know or care which way they are going so long as there is a path to follow. My use is to have two of these stacked together and have one as an input switcher and the other as an output switcher. I do not need hi-def, and my older sources don't have HDMI. I am inputting from CD, DVD, TV, LP, Cassette, R2R tape, Game box, and even VCR, then outputting to any one of the following: TV, DVD-R, audio amp, headphones, video processor OR (not AND) PC. My only cautions are to be gentle but firm when making connections - this is not a commercial performance-grade product- and for the same reason, turn off any inputs you do not currently need, to reduce signal bleed-through from other sources. If this is too much of a nuisance, you can easily spend hundreds of dollars for a device that will do exactly the same thing as this unit, but will stand up to frequent road trips and on-stage abuse. |

Take the single HDMI OUT, take it to an HDMI to VGA converter to get the video signal to the projector. Then take the TOSLINK/DA out to get audio to the soundbar. MOST soundbars can handle the lightpipe signal. If yours does not, there are several adapters here that can convert the DAO to RCA. |
