If you want to know the specific code you'll need to look into what the code is for your community since codes do vary some. I was also able to remove just one of the knockouts to insert the wires but it was a tight fit.

Answer:	The mounting bracket does not swivel. It is a ball socket that gets mounted by two screws. The mounting holes or elongated for minor adjustments. The ball socket also allows for a couple degrees of movement so you can mount a little off centered if you have to.
Question:	How do I remove the balls from the strut so I can attach them to the frame they're being attached to? Mine did not come with instructions
Answer:	There is a clip on the backside of the strut. Once removed, the ball will slip over the connecting part on the mount. Once the shock and bracket are connected and finished, you have to put that clip back into its spot so it’s locked.

Answer:	Depends on where you are mounting the ends. It was a slam shut following the instructions given along with the product. Had to manually calculate the locations to place the end and now it soft closes till the very end.

Great product for the money

Did the job nicely. I wanted a self-opening and stay-open lid on the nest box on my chicken coop so my 3 year old could open it and not worry about it slamming down on her head or fingers as she reached in. Success! The lid on my nest box is 14" x 30", framed in 2x2 lumber, with sheathing, tar paper, drip edge, and shingles on it, so it's relatively heavy. Just one strut was able to hold it open, but self-opening was non-existent and it still slammed shut quite hard

1.Determine the center position of the rectangle mounting hardware ,it should be 70 mm/2 3/4 inch from the back of the lid (do this bracket last so you can line up the closer with the side of the cabinet),as distance to the side of the lid, it depends on the thickness of your box/kitchen cabinets,then mark A ,drill 2 holes on the sides of the center point A

2.Determine the center position of the round mounting hardware, it should be 240 mm/9 7/16 inch from the back of the cabinet, and 10 mm/2/5 inch from the top of the cabinet ,then mark B ,drill 3 holes around the center point B

3.Fix the connectors and connect the joints and the strut

How to Choose the Correct Gas Struts for the Job?

• Step a. Measure the Length of your lid where you will mount struts;
• Step b. Weigh the lid – Use a pole and bathroom scale to weigh at the position you will mount gas struts, usually at the position 30%-50% from the hinge;
• Step c. What Force gas struts you require
• If the scale read 60 Lbs we recommend you choose the 60lbs strut kit at least, that means you will need to buy a 2 Pcs 60Lbs Struts! (Recommend value: 60-80 lbs strut, 2 pcs)

How to Install the Gas Strut for the Job?

• IF you will install them on your truck or camper shell, it is super easy;
• IF you will install them on a new build, please install as per the following instruction:
• 1. Open the lid to the position you required, mark a point at 1/3 to halfway from the hinge to the opposite side of the lid as the upper mounting point
• 2. The lower mounting point is often just blow the upper mounting point. Keep in mind that the strut does not need to be perfectly vertical
• Adjustment method:
• If you feel it is is too weak, move the mount point on the lid opposites to the hinge direction; If you feel the pressure is too strong when open/close, move the mount point on the lid closer to the hinge direction to reduce the pressure played by the struts.

Answer:	I cannot give you a precise answer, since I have used them for a different application. However, the two struts allow me to raise a heavy plunge router mounted to a heavy table top (24" X 36") using fingertip pressure and remain open at an angle greater than ninety degrees. The size and weight of your trap door may give you different results, of course.

Answer:	I wouldn't think so although I have no idea WTF you're talking about. But it is of average thickness for a woven polyester-type compression fabric. where it'd protect against scraping but it's not neoprene so there's no padding if that's what you're looking for.

Tips for gas springs used on Pickup truck toolboxes

• 10inch 35lb gas shocks are usually used for pickup truck full-size aluminum toolboxes, not work for steel or heavy toolboxes.
• Compatible with partial Standard aluminum toolbox, but not for all toolboxes.
• So please confirm the length and pressure before ordering. Fully open and close the lid of the toolbox, and measure the distance from the center of the upper socket to the center of the lower socket respectively. And then you will get the Extended Length and the Extended Length you need.

How to adjust the angle？

• Door opening angle 75： H=260mm L=100mm A=45m
• Door opening angle 90： H=255mm L=90mm A=45m
• Door opening angle 110： H=250mm L=80mm A=45m

How many gas springs are installed?

• 10in 35lb gas shocks work for lid/door height between 12" and 24".
• If the lid weighs between 5lb to 10lb, install ONE gas spring.
• If the lid weighs between 10lb to 21lb, install BOTH.

How to measure the weight of the lid？

• Place the pole on the bathroom scales and then pop it under the lid. This will give you a good indication of the weight. Now remember the Gas Struts are going to be positioned closer to the hinge. Like a door the closer to the hinge you try and open it, the harder and heavier it will be.
