| Answer: | IMHO in 2018: I am thinking that if you are getting a digital RF TV signal from any source and you want to record it ,you should be able to do so by first connecting that digital RF signal to a digital to analog converter box (Remember 2008 when Govt sponsored them?). Then you should be able to record whatever as an analog recording with an old analog recorder (Ebay). The quality is good enough for me. And the old Magnavox / Philips recorders take a digital signal (without any external converter) and record them as analog with 720P resolution (good enough for me). However, I don't know how your TV set gets its signal from cable box, whether it is delivered as a digital RF signal or via HDMI cable. I don't know why anyone gets cable now anyway, since I put an antenna farm on my roof to get direct broadcast TV in better quality than cable; and YouTube on internet has more video to watch than lifetime ability to watch. & Youtube can be downloaded. |

All other tube lengths are also in the 8' to under 9' range.The first segment (bottom) is 2.300" OD (outer diameter); 2.220" ID (inner diameter)... with the wall thickness of the galvanized tube at 0.040" thick, it is 19 GA (gauge).Since the tubes are not critically manufactured (high tolerances), you will commonly find small variances to the above measurement I took. |

| Answer: | Not much is needed as this is just a mast. Your best bet would to be to drive a 5 foot length of 2" OD galvanized mast tubing into the ground for 4 feet (make sure this is dead vertical). If you wanted to make it super-strong you could pour some cement down the tube so nothing could ever bend it. Wrap the remaining 1 foot that is protruding in a single wrap of duct tape and put a plastic plug in the top so it doesn't rot from the inside from water. Slide the mast over this stub. It should be a snug fit then. You MUST guy the mast with "guy wires". It will depend on how high the winds get in your location and the load of your antenna in determining exactly how much strength you need in your guy wires. In some places you can get away with light nylon cord, in others you would need small gauge steel cables. Don't forget the "turn buckles" needed to adjust the guy wires evenly (install them near the ground end). Don't forget to drive a copper plated grounding rod (4' - 10' long depending on soil conductivity in your area) close by and securely attach a copper braided grounding strap between it and the mast. Stay away from power lines and your neighbors property line. Don't forget to also ground your coax and radio to the same exact spot on the grounding rod. Electrocution and lawsuits suck. |
