Answer: | It is possible but not a certainty. The small black plastic hose that is included needs to be heated and stretched, then cooled to attempt to straighten it as much as possible. That hose is 4 foot long. Some engines will have a dipstick tube short enough that the hose can extend all the way to the bottom of the oil pan for nearly full extraction, particularly smaller engines or car engines opposed to larger truck engines which could be too great a distance. The hose adapts to the pump by a cone shaped hard plastic adapter piece that inserts into the end of the red vinyl hose. This results in a great distance you will be pulling the fluid so you may need to add oil to the pump intake before starting to get it to prime. The hard plastic adapter piece is not quite a perfect size and relies on friction fit on its tapered section so getting a good seal, yet not restricting the flow too much, depends on just the right amount of insertion of the black hose into it. The shorter answer is that it is possible to get it to do that in some situations but it is not ideal for it nor would it be the right tool for the job if this is your primary purpose for it. Consider that most engines large enough that they cannot be turned sideways or upside down to drain oil out the fill tube or dipstick location, instead have an oil drain plug on the bottom of the oil pan which is the best way to drain all the oil out. Certainly all cars have this oil drain plug, do not depend on oil extraction through the dip stick because this is a regular maintenance item performed dozens of times during the lifespan of the vehicle. |

Answer: | I would go to Home Depot and get some clear tubing that will fit ( Probably 1/4" tubing), and then stop by the cleaning section and buy a $2.00 bottle of liquid hand soap with a pump. Take the pump off of the soap and get rid of the soap in the pump, connect the pump to the tubing. It might go over the pump tube or it may fit inside of it well enough. Heat up the tubing if you cant get it connected ( you can use a lighter for like 1 second, hot water or a hair dryer or whatever ). Or you can use the oil drain plug but if for some reason you cannot, I hope this idea helps. |

The FR1204H is a 12V 15 GPM fuel transfer pump that comes as a pump only model and comes with a 3/4" elbow, 5’ 12-gauge ground wire, and a 18’ 12 gauge 2-wire battery cable (3/4" outlet). It can be used to pump gasoline, diesel, kerosene, ethanol blends up to 15%, methanol blends up to 15%, and bio-diesel up to B20. The previous FR1204G model has been updated to the FR1204H model. Rotary Vane
Rotary vane technology is a positive displacement (fixed volume) pump design that utilizes an offset rotor with sliding vanes that rotates on a motor shaft inside the pump. The vanes move outward against the pump cavity to form individual chambers (positive displacement). Fuel enters into the pump cavity through the inlet port on the rotor side where the vanes are fully extended. As the rotor turns, the vanes collapse inward creating the pressure that forces the fuel into the discharge port and through the hose.

Suction Lift
The maximum suction lift rating refers to the maximum vertical distance that a pump can lift fuel out of a tank. On rotary vane pumps, suction lift is created due to the offset of the rotor in the pump cavity, which increases the volume in the chamber between the vanes, thus lowering the pressure on the pump’s inlet. Atmospheric pressure, which is now greater than the inlet pressure in the pump, moves the fuel from the tank to the pump cavity (self-priming).
Suction lift is determined by the pump specifications, the type of fuel, and the altitude of the location where the pump is installed. Higher altitudes reduce the suction lift of a pump due to the reduced atmospheric pressure.
To achieve maximum suction lift, the inlet plumbing should be as straight as possible with no elbows or bends in the line. Accessories, such as filters, should not be installed on the inlet side of the pump. Valves should be set with minimum spring pressure and must contain a pressure relief valve.
Discharge Pressure
Discharge pressure refers to the systems pressure while dispensing. It effects flow-rate based on the pump’s design - the lower the discharge pressure, the higher the flow-rate.
Variables that increase discharge pressure/decrease flow-rate:
- Adding accessories (filters, measuring devices, swivels, etc…)
- Changing accessories (increasing the length or decreasing diameter of hose)
- Dispensing fuel above the pump (the higher the discharge point is above the pump the lower flow-rate)p
- Pumping higher viscosity fluids (Fill-Rite pumps are designed to pump at a viscosity no greater than kerosene)
To lower discharge pressure/increase flow-rate, remove or limit restrictions. Examples include, moving from a 10 micron filter to 30 micron filter, changing from a 800 series to a 900 series or TT10 series, limiting the use of elbows in system design, or increasing the diameter of your discharge hose/pipe.

When installing the manual siphon pump, please kindly make sure the following steps are correct:
1. The container which you want to get rid of fluid is in up HIGHER position than the target container you are flowing into.
2. Both of the original container and the target container are not in a sealed state.
3. Exhaust the gas in the tube hose before using siphon pump.
4. When you put fitting end into the container, must keep it inside of the container, NOT just on the surface.
5. Both of the PVC hoses are not knotted or twisted together.
6. The rubber ball is in the right way, the indicator arrow which on the rubber ball, should toward to the target container that the fluid is flowing into. It means that the side which the indicator arrow shows, is the outlet.
7. Check the two hoses are in correct installation, the longer one is installed on the input side of the rubber ball, the shorter one is for the outlet side.
Please Note:
1.If the siphon pump hoses have kinks, please try to soak the kink part into a small amount of hot water for 1-3 minutes to restore it, then will not affect the use of function.
2. Not suitable for drink water, salt water and any chemical liquids.

Answer: | There are inexpensive products and CHEAP products. This one was CHEAP. It would start, and then lose suction. I'd have to restart again and again. Part of the problem was with the packaging. Everything was crammed into a package that resulted in several hard crimps in the tube. Tried to get them opened up by running hot water on them then squeezing the sides of the crimp to open it up. However, once I went back to using it again, the crimps (four or more) seemed to come back and break the suction. Got the job done on a one gallon gas-tank on my generator, but I'd never use it on a big job. |
