Answer: I wetsanded the clear gloss over this and it all came right off, sanded down to my fricken primer with 2000 grit. I couldnt believe it. I have to repaint the whole thing now kinda blows....

Question: Do you have to primer, first
Answer: You should and it will run less and cure better, but you don't absolutely have to. If you skip primer, you have to degrease and clean the entire wheel in soap and water, then wet sand the entire surface to get through the clear coat or acrylic barrier in the paint layer, 800-2000 grit until the entire rim looks hazy when you wipe it dry. Then clean it with isopropyl alcohol, and use air to blow any remaining fibers or debris away from the wheel. All your coats must be 5-30 minutes apart, not sooner, not longer. First two coats, just lightly dust it, don't worry about coverage. Next coat should be a light overall coat that is not wet and glossy (pull it back!). Once that tacks up a bit, then you can apply a medium wet coat, by repeating the light coat you did over and over until it STARTS to look wet and glossy. Don't keep going over a spot that already does. Let it cure untouched for 7 days. Your paint will be good.

Question: Is this a paint or just a transparent spray to prevent rust? Can I just spray it on the wheels of camry 2010? Or there are additional steps
Answer: It's a clearcoat, so technically it's transparent paint. And yes you can just spray on your wheels, there are additional steps that the manufacturer recommends, or I personally; like sanding, applying primer, applying color(painting) and then clear with this product to get good results. I did the 4 wheels on my car and they look awesome but I took a lot of time doing prep. If you don't do the prep work it can still be done just don't have high expectations and later blame the product because you didn't put the work in it. At least make sure the surface it's clean, and keep in mind it's clear paint so it will not cover any defects, to get a glossy finish spray a light coat followed by one or two wet coats, be careful to not let the paint run when you apply the wet coats. As for the rust prevention I din't know.
Question: Will this product adhere to raw aluminum or does does it need to go on over paint
Answer: Best to use 2K epoxy or self etching primer over clean well prepared aluminum. Do not let anyone tell you orherwise.

Answer: I use this on my dump truck metal sides. It also stays very well on my wood sideboards too. I just give it 2 or 3 coats and let it soak in.

Answer: I was able to paint the outsides of 4, 17" rims and the center caps with 2-3 coats, with less than 4 cans. The trouble I had is that the paint really needs to bake so that the surface will harden. The appearance was great, but didn't last. I think if I had the ability to bake the paint, it would still look great and last the elements.

Answer: The biggest factor is what you are spraying onto. For best results, leave the factory paint on and give it a good scratching with iron wool or sand paper. If you are down to bare metal it will probably get scratched up by the friction of the water. I do not consider this a very tough paint, but applied properly its as good as any other.

Question: Can this be used with duplicolor
Answer: Yes but don't use duplicolor. Call around local auto paint stores and get real auto paint put into aerosol cans. Transtar is a decent one who will do this and it's better quality. My personal opinion.
Question: can i use this with high gloss plastidip on a chrome grille
Answer: Not sure about chrome. I would coat the chrome grill with adhesion spray first then plastidip. Apply this Spray Max in the end but make sure the adhesion and the plastidip to stick firmly first.

Answer: Same as any other clear. Obviously depends on air temp/humidity etc. Also, the longer it dries, the harder it is, so hard to cut

Answer: Yes it works well. I also do paintings (abstract) and used 2 part resin. The spray Max is just as good and durable. The draw back is, is once you puncture the internal can inside the main can, you only have about 48 hours to use. So you have to make sure you have a few paintings ready to go and coat them all at the same time. Also, purchase a respirator. Harbor freight has them for Les than $20. You get quite a few uses from them, then just throw away and purchase a new one. The vapors in the 2 part spray Max are not good to be inhaling. Outside is fine, but in a enclosed area is not good unless you wear a respirator.

Answer: It kind of depends on what you're doing with the headlights. As stated here if you're doing a standard restoration kit to remove the normal yellowing in the headlight's plastic lens, those kits do not come with a process to clear coat afterwards. In general terms though, if you want to clear coat the lens you're just adding clear protective layers to the lens and have the added benefit that if you then get a scratch you simply have to hit it again with some sandpaper and apply a new coat to "remove" the scratch. If you use a fine grit sandpaper (800 - 1200) to scuff the lens in order to hold the clear coat you'll be fine and would never use any type of primer in this instance. I have to say I have not used this on headlights but I "smoked" my tail lights with VTH Nightshades and then clear coated over that with this and it turned out great. I also have to say though that I only got a little over a year out of it before the clear coat started to yellow and the Nightshades started to lighten up so just using a headlight restoration kit may keep the yellow off longer, I've just never used one to know for sure.

Answer: Yes this is clear coat and this clear coat is a paint which gives glows 'shine' to the existing paint surface. (I have bought one of these and tried to use it on my car's bumper and it really messed up) I recommend to try on any old paint surface before using on main body

Answer: That is the purpose but I would not recommend it. It wants a week between coats or it will orange peel. Try a lacquer instead. You can build up coats to match the gloss level.

Answer: I ordered 3 cans of paint, two of them were so old that no matter how long you shook them, the paint came out in globs & they were useless. I tried to RMA the paint, but Amazon told me that I couldn't ship them back because they're flamable, but I couldn't have a refund unless I returned the product. I've had good success with dupli-color before when buying it from the Auto Parts store, but I would recommend getting it locally rather than on Amazon.
Question: I have a scratch on my bumper will i be able to just do the area with all the products or will i have to do the entire bumper to get it to blend
Answer: You should not have to paint the entire bumper. First, prep the area where the scratch is. Clean the entire bumper, then depending on the depth of the scratch, you may want to lightly sand and area surrounding the scratch until all is smooth. Then wipe lightly with laquer thinner. Mask off the bumper to isolate it from the car. Get Dupli-color primer and apply a few light coats. Let them dry well before applying more. This will build up the area around the scratch that you had sanded. Let the primer dry overnight. Next, get some 400 and 600 grit sandpaper (wet type) and with a wet piece of 400, sand lightly the entire primed area. Keep dipping the paper in water and don't use fingertips! Clean area with wet cloth and repeat process with 600grit wet paper and you can then sand some of the areas surrounding the primer (scuff the painted surfaces around the repair) Clean it up with damp clothes and let dry. Apply the paint in light coats in a side to side motion. Don't try to cover the primer too fast. Light coats work best and allow dry time in between coats. Eventually the primer will be covered and some of the new paint will then overlap the original paint on bumper (this is part of the blending process) Once all is covered and you cannot see the primer under the paint, let it dry overnight.Next day, get some 1000 grit wet paper and sand the entire repair area lightly. This will help smooth out the new paint. Dont sand too hard so as to make the primer exposed. Sand beyond the new paint so as to scuff up the old untouched paint on the bumper. You are getting the surrounding area ready for the clear cloat blend.Wipe with clean wet cloth and when thoroughly dry you can apply the dupli color clear coat using the same light coat, overlap method. Now you will want to go beyond the repair area bringing the clear coat into the original painted surfaces by a few inches all around. Let the clear coat dry in between coats. Once clear is applyed, let it dry overnight. Next day you can wet sand the entire repair area with 1000 wet paper. Remember, no finger tips. Use your palm or get a sanding block but go lightly. Once you have finished sanding, wipe clean with wet cloth and then polish with Light polishing compound. You can do this by hand if you dont have a buffer. It may sound complicated, but that's a process that will give you the best results outside of going to a body shop. Another consideration, if the scratch is small, get a bottle of duplicolor touch up. It has the brush built in and you can possibly just carefully use the brush and paint to fill in the scratch.
