Answer: Hi, I have not owned a R15, so I can´t compare, but I am very pleased with the sound and bass of my R14. I normally sit about 5 feet from the speakers and they sound great for their Size.

Answer: You will need a separate amplifier since these speakers are passive, not active. Active speakers have a power source and will have a volume control. Passive speaker have no power source and no volume control. I use an affordable Pyle mini amp. You will need to connect the turntable to the amp and then connect the amp to the speakers using speaker wire. If you get active speakers, you won't need the separate amp and can just connect the turntable directly to the speakers.
Question: Has anybody used this with Mac OS? What do you do for the 'fn' key
Answer: No...you would need separate Atmos Speakers or different towers

Your best bet is to get a mechanical key tester that includes Cherry MX Brown keys and see if it is quiet enough for you. You can also get a feel for how loud it is by looking for videos of other Cherry MX Brown keyboards.
