Answer:	It apparently depends on which merchant you purchase from. We just bought from “Adler Deals” and this unit was not for the North American region. We called Nintendo to confirm and they told us that if we had any warranty issues, we would be required to go through the Middle East/South Asia Nintendo and ship it internationally to them. Since merchants are hijacking this listing to sell international units, the only way to know if you are getting a North American version is to ask what the first 2 characters are of the serial. If they answer “QW”, then it North American. We received a “QS” version for South Asia/Middle East. Ask before you buy. Merchants who “don’t know” will send you a unit that will be very difficult to get warranty issues resolved.
