If you take the top apart, you can see the collet and how the slots will expand outward as you tighten the nut. It works very well. Answer:	Yes, constantly. And at the least opportune times. This is a great little car but the steering bolt is a problem, and I am unable to find a replacement anywhere (we lost ours).

Answer:	Mine did this at first. The bolt wasn't quite tight enough to start so it just kept spinning and wasn't attaching to the car. Try to tighten the nut/bolt just a bit before inserting the handle into the wheel shaft. Should tighten and stay tightened this way. At least this has worked for me on both that we have purchased. Also use a screwdriver through the hole on the "tool" provided. This will allow you to tighten it significantly more than without and it should stay tightened.
