Answer:	The Rotofury is pump action and the Mastodon is just pull the trigger and fire. So depending on your kid will make a diffetence. The Mastodon also hold more bullets so less reloading but the Mastodon fires faster so you can shoot and reload by the time most have shot their fewer shots. I would recommend the Mastodon just ease of use and less worry of using a pump slide to fire.

Answer:	Specific to this model. If you are considering a rival, I would choose another model. I bought this one thinking it would be easier for my youngest son but one didn’t was almost like jammed and didn’t work right out of the box, amazon replaced it and the replacement literally lasted less than 24 hours then the same thing happened. We didn’t try for a third. We’ve have numerous (too many to count) nerf guns in our home and have never had issues even with the battery operated ones so I’d say maybe the engineering of this model isn’t the best.
