Although 3 may be a little young, (my 3 year old grandson can't do it by himself, but he had no patience whatsoever!), and 5, a little old (my 5 year old grandson does them in one minute!... but they are very different in their development...I think the 5 year old could have done it when he was 3...). So it really depends on the child... 3-4 years old seems the best age range.

Answer:	Yes you can. The corner edges go a specific way so it may confuse you at first, but they are universal tiles.

Answer:	The mat is half-inch thick and is slippery on hardwood floors. Doesn't have much traction.

Answer:	The puzzle pieces are very light and almost float over the carpet, they would sit more secure on a flat surface like hardwood floors. However I do have it set on my carpet and as long as it's set big enough, my child does not get to the edges and move it around. Also, because a carpet surface is uneven, walking on it while on the carpet will cause the letters and puzzle pieces to separate.

Answer:	Yes, its 12 different puzzles with 12 different pictures. However, I only received 11. They are wooden puzzles, so they do not break easily and are easy for my 3 year old to assemble.

The pieces are a decent size considering how small the total puzzle is (about 5.7 x 5.7.) The handicapped adult I got them for was able to handle them easily, and I'm planning to give them to my 3 1/2 year old great nephew at Christmas.

Question:	Are the patterns grooved (like a toddler puzzle) or flat
Answer:	I don’t make them but on the site scan down the page under product information see what it says I don’t think so it’s solid wood
Question:	Are the blocks made of plastic or wood
Answer:	We received this as a present two months ago, and I had the same reaction to the smell. We have other puzzles from this brand, and they do not smell like that. After letting it air out, the smell is still there. I put it away in a closet, but now the closet smells, too. I'll probably throw it out.
