We didn't need instructions, we figured it out. It was a challenge, but not a frustrating challenge. & definitely not so challenging that we needed to cheat & use instructions or videos (which defeats the purpose).

Answer:	I have purchased four total: two frustration-free and two standard packaging. They both contained the same items inside the packaging. Neither of them had the directions to solve the cube (if that's what you wanted).Although there is a definite difference in turning mechanical feel. They both feel quicker and looser than the original, but the two in frustration-free packages feel more likely to break sooner - they still work great though and I would buy again. But if I knew the feel before purchase I would have only purchased in standard packaging (not frustration-free).I hope this helps.
