How It Works

Measuring 16.3 inches tall, this lava lamp heats up with the help of a pre-installed 25-watt incandescent light bulb. Once hot, the yellow wax will slowly rise and fall, gradually turning orange in the purple liquid, creating the familiar retro lava effect. Run the lamp for 8 hours for it to function properly.

Approx. 8 hours. Then, turn the lamp on until the wax starts to soften, shut if off till it cools. Then turn it on again and run for 8 to 10 hours. This may result in a clear lamp. Difficult Lamps: Sometimes you will get stubborn wax. Please be sure you are letting the lamp run initially for about 6-8 hours, no more than 10 hours The lava becomes dormant after production until you start it up and it becomes a member of your family. Some lava takes a little longer to get moving than others. We suggest a 4 day cycle run to get your lamp moving. Run your lamp for 8 hours each day, consecutively. This should help get your lamps to start flowing properly. Four Ways to Ruin your Lava Lamp: 1. Do not loosen or remove the bottle cap on globe. Breaking the seal will ruin your lamp and void your warranty. 2. Do not move, shake or drop your Lava Lamp while “WARM”. The lamp will become cloudy and the lava will break apart. If this happens shut the lamp off immediately and let sit undisturbed for 24 hours. Then turn it back on and run as normal. Hopefully your lamp will run again unharmed. But there is a possibly that it will be damaged for good. 3. Do not place lamp in direct sunlight. The colors will fade. 4. Do not store in extreme cold or heat. This will affect the functionality of your lamp.

Question:	The light bulb that came with my lamp is so big, the glass part won't sit fully in the base, it's sitting directly on the light bulb. Is this normal
Answer:	Yes. I built a shelter for a couple of feral cats that were roaming in our neighborhood. I placed the shelter in the bushes right outside our house. I equipped the shelter with the Muranda Thermal Cat pad to keep the inside warm. It is currently set on high, which averages about 69 degrees, even with snow on top and outside the shelter. I should mention that every wall, including the top and bottom of the shelter, is insulated with a reflective insulating material. It's been outside for about six months and so far, it hasn't malfunctioned nor developed any signs of mold or mildew. I constructed the shelter from a 55 gal storage bin from Home Depot. I cut two entry/exit access doors, about two inches from the bottom, which keeps the inside mostly dry. the Pad is working great! No complaints at all!
Question:	My lamp arrived cloudy. What should I do
Answer:	I doubt its waterproof.. Has soft warm maerial on one side.. The bottom side sounds like it has vinyl tarp sewed in

Answer:	I use it outdoors for feral cats. I went out to check it and if you crunch it in your hands it does sound crinkly. I then put my hand on it as a cat would to lay down . There was a tinsy bit of crinkle but very, very little. Hope this helps.
Question:	My lava lamp worked for one day. Now lava just sits in the bottom like a hockey puck. What a rip off. Does anybody know where to buy ones that work

Question:	Bulb was missing
Answer:	The reviewers seem to say that this product is just polyester stuffing. In other words, just as heat reflecting as a quilt. Did the seat cushions that you remember "crinkle"? If so, it was probably a cushion with a mylar layer. They can be quite warming, without actually having to create any heat (such as a lightweight hunter item). Read this review and try the product they mention instead. Answer:	It seems to. In the morning they are warm after sleeping however long they sleep at night. It seems to keep them warm as long as they are on it.

Question:	How well does it flow
Answer:	Not all lava lamps are alike - some flow better than others, and I don't know why - either you get a good one or you don't. Once I turn mine on it takes about 15 - 20 minutes for some lava action to begin - and it starts with a column of semi-lucid lava rising from the floor of the jar - forming a sort of stalagmite. A few minutes later the lava has heated up a bit more, and begins 'erupting' from the bottom in different sized chunks that slowly wind and twist their way up to the top of the fluid, where it stays for a few moments as it cools and then begins its descent down to the bottom, to be reheated again, rising to the top in a different sized chunk. This continues for a few hours (all lamps are a bit different) ... then it loses it's mobility and kind of sits there. That's a sign to turn it off and let it sit for a few hours and cool off. When you get a good lamp - it's very cool to watch.

Question:	does the "lava" flow fluently and how long does it to heat up
Answer:	For me it was very fluid at first, and it took about 30 minutes to get there; however, it was cloudy so I have been letting it sit still for quite a long time, so I'm not sure how long it will take to heat up now, but the water is very very clear, which I hope stays that way when run it again.

Answer:	I don't know - maybe from some other seller, but we are selling it only together, as one piece.
