Answer:	Hi, Yeah I don't know why it says Made in USA in description unless the box itself was a typo but I doubt that since it is not unheard of for a toy to be made in china. I know I did see Made in China on the box. Might be worth bringing up to Amazon to confirm or toysmith the manufacturer . I'm not sure who is responsible for the descriptions but the manufacturer Toysmith also has contact info on their website: "We want to hear from you. Answer:	It's my daughters, so I don't know what the differences are. I looked at it and the hole goes all the way through. You can tie it to come out on either side. From what I understand, you want it to hang from the side away from you (with the knot facing you) when you play. It seems to me that shifting it from one hand to the next while keeping the tie on your side of the kendama is all you need to do to make it one hand or the other. Sorry if this isn't what you're looking for, but I'm not very familiar with this toy and my daughter just plays with it without thinking about any of this stuff.
