Answer:	We had this issue when my 5 year old wanted to keep changing it and we inevitably forgot the code. We removed the batteries for an hour and still no reset, so I improvised. Very carefully take a pair of scissors or a flathead screwdriver and wedge it open a tiny bit, just enough to trip the sensor and hear the “door opening sound”, careful not to crack it open any further than that. Hold it like that until you are able to hold down the * key, enter your new code, hit the # key while still holding down the * key, release star key, then remove the scissors to close the door back. You now have a working code.
