Answer:	Quite possibly you have a broken switch. According to my husband, if a motor (which works on gears) works in one direction it will work in the opposite direction. The switch (lever) works off of two wires, one for each direction, so possibly one of the wires of the switch is broken or not connecting for some reason.
Question:	Is this suitable for a 12 yr old
Answer:	Thank you for your interest in the robot. Unfortunately it will not pick up a full beer. A full beer weighs 386 g and the robot is only capable of picking up 100 g. It would definitely be able to pick up an empty beer bottle though.
