Question: I get an error code everytime I try and run it doesn't anyone know why? I hardly have anything in it
Answer: There are two main differences:The Hobby Rock Tumbler has a rubber tumbling barrel with a stainless steel cap, which reduces noise and is more durable. The Starter Kit Rock Tumbler has a plastic barrel. The Hobby Rock Tumbler also has a keypad for setting the number of days you would like it to tumble, where as the Starter Kit Rock Tumbler's setting options are on/off. Thank you for your inquiry.
Question: what is the warranty for and how long is it
Answer: This takes .3 Amps, so (watts = amps x volts) OR watts = .3 x 110 which equals33 watts. Now for one week would equal 33 watts x 7 days x 24 hours =5544 watts or 5.54 kilowatts for one week.At $.16 per kilowatt it comes to $.89 per week.
Question: Can you confirm the voltage rating of the power cord? only 110v or up to 240v? thank you

Frankford Arsenal Platinum Series Rotary Tumbler for Cleaning and Polishing Brass for Reloading

Frankford Arsenal

Based on 1 reviews Check latest price

Product description

The Platinum Series Rotary Tumbler delivers a new level of brass cleaning performance. Rotary tumbling with stainless steel media in a liquid bath gets brass much cleaner and works much faster than ultrasonic or vibratory tumbling methods. The pins easily penetrate inside cases and into primer pockets to deliver unbeatable cleaning power. The tumbler can effectively clean without stainless media pins by using a mixture of Frankford Arsenal Brass Cleaning Solution and water (the media pins ensure primer pockets and inside of cases are perfectly clean). The Frankford Arsenal Platinum Series Rotary Tumbler is the most effective brass cleaning process available.

  • SPECS: With a large 7-liter capacity this tumbler can clean up to 1,000 cases of .223 brass at a time
  • EASE OF USE: Features a maintenance-free drive train that eliminates the chances of needing to replace a belt and has a built-in timer in the base that can be set to run for up to 3 hours, shutting off automatically
  • VERSATILITY: This tumbler can effectively clean without the use of stainless steel media pins and can clean using a mixture of brass cleaning solution and water
  • QUIET: This tumbler features a dual-layer drum with noise dampening rubber lining for minimal noise while running
  • CONVENIENT: Works great with Frankford Arsenal Stainless Steel Media (1097884), Cleaning Packs (110040), and Cleaning Solution (878787) sold seperately

User questions & answers

Question: What size pins come with it and in yor experience are they ok or dou you recommend others
Answer: I have used this tumbler for both rifle and pistol casings and I would recommend NOT using the pins, If you fill the tumbler with HOT tap water to the point recommended and add FOUR capfuls of the FRANKFORT ARSENAL ULTRASONIC BRASS CLEANING SOLUTION and run the tumbler for one and a half hours your brass will come out looking like new. I have used all the home made cleaning solutions and the FA Brass Cleaning Solution is the best BY FAR. If your cases are decapped the primer pocket will be clean. Two final recommendations. DO NOT fill the tumbler any more than 1/3 full of cases. Cleaning depends on the cases ability to move around in the tumbler and the volume and strength of the cleaning solution. Both of these recommendations affect those two parameters. Nothing is accomplished by adding pins plus with cases like 223 you have to check the inside of every cases to make sure one of those tiny pins is not hiding in the case. Reloading with one of those in the case will have a dangerous effect on case pressure when fired.
Question: Is there a minimum number of cases to tumble? I have 380 .45acp cases I'd like to clean, but wonder if the tumbler will shine that small an amount
Answer: There is no minimum number of cases per say to clean and the rotary tumbler is rated to clean up to 1000 cases of 223 brass. You will love this product and it will shine up your 45acp nicely. Thanks for your question.
Question: is the five pounds of media enough or do you need to buy extra
Answer: It is plenty of media. It works great. I have found the secret to really shiny brass is to use dish soap and lemishine to clean. After that rinse and shake the pins out. My last step and I believe the most important is to add clean water back in and put it back on for 15-30 minutes. Everytime I have done that it has been great. Without the last step it's hit or miss with the soap get completely rinsed off and not leaving water spots.
Question: what makes this better than the rebel
Answer: Because the acronym is FART, Frankford Arsenal Rotary Tumbler. Way more fun than the rebel.

User questions & answers

Question: So what part is colored white or black? my pulley on the shaft is black
Answer: We Highly Suggest that you refer to original manufacturer's instructions which show belt location. We do not want to start "labeling" components black or white as tumblers do change such identifying attributes without notice, and we could create additional confusion trying to help.
Question: Diameter and thickness
Answer: The ring is 4 inches across and just under 3/8 inch in thickness. It was just a bit bigger than our ring that broke but quite a bit thinner. I was skeptical at first but it has now been through four rounds of polishing and held up just fine. The first round there was a little slippage but by maneuvering the tumbler we were able to alleviate that. Since then it has been fine.
Question: does this go on the tumbler for the rocks or is it the belt that drives the rotation of the shaft, meaning the belt that is attached to the motor
Answer: It's a Belt that drives the shafts that the barrel is driven by. It is attached to a pulley on the motor shaft.
Question: How can i tell what is the "newer" model t tumbler vs. the "old
Answer: Newr model T have white color capped shafts, the older generally have black color capped shafts...Thanks

Answer: Yes, these belts fit all Model B tumblers.
Question: I have a model T, will this belt fit
Answer: Hello, There are two types of Model T's. One has a width of 1/4", and the other is 1/8". Look for the Model T thin listing for the 1/8", or Model T standard for the 1/4".
Question: Will a thumbler model t-100 & mp-1 "thin" rock tumbler belt work on a thumbler ar
Answer: Hello, As the AR thin belt is strong enough to work, it does have a larger diameter. This added size may not allow the belt to make contact with the pulleys unless the motor mount is adjusted.

User questions & answers

Question: Why aren't these free to those of us who have already paid for several barrels and thrown the junk away because they don't last long enough to finish
Answer: You are putting too many stones in at a time or the stones are too large.
Question: How do you know when it is time to replace a tumbling barrel
Answer: For me it was when they got too ridgid and would no longer seal well. The water started leaking out on my 10 year old barrel.
Question: Do you sell the barrel lid/cap by itself
Answer: Both the lid and the retainer can be purchased separately on Amazon.
Question: Does this barrel fit with the Thumler's Tumble Model T rotary rock tumbler
Answer: I do not know. I am using the barrels on the model AR-2 and they match the 2 that came with that. Working well with 4 tumblers now, one for each of the steps.

User questions & answers

Question: Will this kit tell me how much of the grit to use in my tumbler
Answer: yes
Question: What grit size is each bag
Answer: course grit, fine grit, pre-polish, and polish
Question: Does the grit only last for one batch or project? this is for a gift, want to set them up. how long does each stage of polishing usually take? thank y
Answer: It depends on what size tumbler you use. But you get 2 packs of each so even for a large tumbler you get two cycles out of the box. For small tumblers you could probably get 4 batches. Each stage of tumbling is typically 7 days so a whole cycle is a month but it depends on what type of stones you are doing. Personally I do hard stones from Lake Superior and I run each cycle for a week. I hope this helps a little.
Question: I have a double barrell or 6lb tumbler. Will this be enough or will I need to buy more
Answer: We have a small tumbler like the size of a can of pumpkin pie mix, the size just larger than a soup can. My Mister says you need to buy more. If you go to tumblers site, they can tell you how much you need for the size you have.

User questions & answers

Question: How long do I leave the machine running for a nice shiny polished rock(s)? Jasper stone
Answer: It’s a 3 step process. Coarse, fine and polish. Jasper is pretty hard but generally 6-8 hours course, about the same on medium. Polishing with a high gloss will vary but about the same time.
Question: Can this rock tumbler use actual rocks as the media to texture small steel parts
Answer: Yes you can. I use mine to polish brass for reloading. Deburring parts and polishing. Iron oxide works well for texture on steel. It comes with walnut shells. I have 3 of these machines with different media. Quiet enough to have General conversation with it running. Add a second lock nut on the lid. It will vibrate off
Question: I want to use for polishing jewelry pieces made from silver and bronze. Can I use this tumbler with stainless steel shot
Answer: I wouldn't recommend it
Question: Can you purchase a replacement bowl
Answer: WHERE CAN I BUY A REPLACEMENT BOWEL ONLY?

Replacement Drive Belt for Thumler's AR 1,2,6,12 B #401 Rock Tumbler-10 Pack (B1000-342)

Based on 20 reviews Check latest price

Product description

A Few Hints for Longer Rock Tumbler Life Now that you are actively shopping to replace a broken, stretched or otherwise worn rock tumbler belt-your choice of our replacement belts is indeed a good One .Replacing a belt is certainly a lot cheaper than buying a new tumbler! However, please understand that early or premature breakage of your tumbler's current belt may be indicative or a "flag" telling you that other issues may be at play here (other than just a belt that broke)..If available, please refer to your tumbler's original manual. Review the important operational and maintenance information. As your tumbler (& it's belt) up to now may have been running well-there is now evidently some new checks and/or maintenance that are recommended. Examples could be: Is your tumbling load proper and not too heavy? A Heavy load will stall the shafts & pulleys eventually breaking the belt..Insure that the load does not exceed manufacturer's specifications. HINT: a 3 lb tumbler should have a load that with both it's load (rocks, water & grit) and the barrel itself measured should not exceed 3 lbs. Check and clean as necessary the outer surfaces of the barrel. Your barrel needs to be slip-free-clean & dry. Was your belt properly tensioned? The belt needs to move freely without binding or without too much excess play. Are the belt's pulleys aligned and moving freely and moving the shafts equally as well? A belt should be positioned on the pulleys with a reasonable amount of "slack" as well. Are the shafts moving smoothly, do the bearings need lubrication? Do you feel or hear any "grinding" or roughness when turning the shafts? Do the shafts' surfaces need cleaning? Remove the belt (motor) housing and (carefully)allow tumbler to run while you watch these various mechanical movements. Everything should be freely and smoothing moving-silently. With proper vigilance, maintenance and due diligence a tumbler can last & run for decades.
