| Answer: | if you want to flatten them out, and don't want to spend the money on new ones and instead buy the stuff and take the time to flatten them out, I'd be looking at using diamond to get them to their very best,, if they are that good that flattening them is worth the time and money. You can get the diamond grit or dust cheap enough and it goes a lot farther, the carbide might work on sone stones, but the better ones would need something better I would think, it is really going to depend on the sharpening stone, if it is really hard and fine, then this stuff would just ruin then because it is too coarse, fast, but if it was fast enough and good enough, then I would think they would be selling it for that on amazon, if there is a buck to be made, they sell it here. |

| Question: | Is there a book that comes with the stones to identify them |
| Answer: | No. They just come in 3 1lb ziplock bags with country of origin on the bag. Still it was a nice mix of stones. Even got some nice crystal points. |
| Question: | What type of Grit do I use for this rock set & how much grit |
| Answer: | First, separate the crystal from the rough rock. I use a 4 step procedure using a coarse grit (50 to 70 grit ) for the first step. 2nd step is a fine grit ( around 200 to 300 grit ). Then I use a standard prepolish and polish for the last 2 steps. Each step takes about 7 to 10 days. Use 2 tablespoons per pound of rock for the first 2 steps, then use 1 tablespoon per pound for the last 2 steps. Use plastic beads for steps 2 through 4, none for step 1. Fill your container with clean water to the bottom of the top layer of rock for all steps. Check every other day on all phases to make sure everything is going well. Add water if too foamy all phases. I hope this helps you. Good luck with your project. |

| Answer: | Yes, haven't used it since Christmas season (Granddaughter made jewelry for gifts). I believe you place the stones in the tumbler, add the grit, place enough water to just cover the stones, and seal it up. We ran the tumbler in the garage (even at sub freezing temps), gets pretty loud. 1 week for course, 1 week for med., 10 days for fine grit. Went on Ebay for inexpensive metal pendant and key chain stone holders. She (7yrs old) enjoyed making her gifts. Good luck. |
