Question:	what kind of batteries are needed, and how many per walkie talkie
Answer:	As others said, 4 AAA batteries each, but make sure to use Energizers or Maxells or something, but NOT Duracell or Kirkland brand. Duracells and Kirkland seem to have problems, due to their contact points not working right in not just this device, but many other devices as well. There are lots of online complaints about them. Not sure why, but there doesn't seem to be any problems with Energizers, and they work great in these walky talkies.

As I recall, it used either 4 or 6, not included, so make sure it is turned off when not in use. This was a gift for an 8 year old who lives in another state and she is thrilled with it.
