| Answer: | I've only had reason to use mine 1 time in the black rock desert in north west nevada and my goodness, for the price these things work amazing. I didn't notice any buzzing from mine, but the truck was always running while I was using it. As far as the wiring I ran my thru a rubber grommet under the front seat floor boards meant for water draining. I did have to extend the wiring to reach the lights. I just used crimp on barrel splices and then used heat shrink to protect it all. Hope that helped. |

| Answer: | First, for what its worth, this unit does not provide 420 watts of lighting, it is closer to 200. However, if it did use 420 watts, it would draw a tiny bit over 30 amps when your vehicle was running (13.8VDC is the "normal" voltage your alternator will provide). If your vehicle was turned off, it's battery voltage would probably be around 12.5VDC at first, and then it would draw around 33.5 amps. Long answer, but if you use 10 gauge wire with this unit you will be fine. I am actually using much smaller wire on mine with no issues, but am a bit scared to recommend someone else doing so (I am using 14 gauge as my unit is only pulling 15 amps). By the way, Watts divided by voltage will give you the amperage on a DC system for most applications). |

In a more detailed description, the light bar is able to be tipped up and down (vertically) and from left to right (horizontally).... once the bar is mounted where you so desire there are 2 sets of bolts to adjust both the horizontal and the vertical movements... you can also adjust them individually, as in, if you only need a vertical movement and NOT a horizontal movement and vise versa! The longboat is not an overnight build. In fact, expect to invest at least 30 hours to do it right. We have replicated every plank and beam as well as the metal parts and the rig. There is nothing amateurish or "beginner" about this kit. We leave nothing to be figured out but take you step by step through the building process.
18th CENTURY 26 FT. LONGBOAT
The longboat was the largest boat aboard an 18th century ship.
Longboats were kept fully provisioned at all times in case of an emergency. Longboats were carvel built with the planks meeting flush at the seams rather than overlapping. A full bow, high sides and fine aft lines made it fairly seaworthy in heavy winds and steep waves. The interior was fitted with thwarts to accommodate eight to ten oarsmen. A ships gun could also be mounted in the bow.
Our longboat is a true plank-on-frame model, built much like the real longboats of the 18th century. The kit uses the finest laser cut basswood for false keel, ribs, locker, floorboards and thwarts. Other materials include brass strips, belaying pins, eyebolts & nails, wooden blocks & deadeyes, black & tan rigging line and cast metal anchor. Pre-printed side friezes and stern decorations are also included.

| Answer: | Experienced shipwrights take the planks to be used for the hull and soak the ends of them overnight in a coffee can or plastic container. The next day pin them down on a wood board in the approximate shape of the front of the hull. When they dry they will easily conform to the bend you are looking for. Another way is to purchase our Plank Bender tool on Amazon. With the tool you soak the plank for a few minutes and then apply the hot iron to the plank in the wood mold that is supplied with the tool. Above all, be patient and build slowly and carefully. |

| Answer: | While it is billed as a beginner's kit it is no such thing. Yes the instruction book is good but the extremely small size means you'll be trying to drill holes in brass stock that is 1/32 wide. I've build a number of model airplanes with balsa and tissue but nothing as frustrating as this. Calling it an intro to ship modelling is going to leave a number of people never wanting to see a model ship again. I've built full sized sailing dingys faster. |
