I originally choose 813133 because the lens was an aspherical lens. This type of lens provides better magnification over the entire lens area. I'll have to look at the other item before I can say anything about it. I use to have a Brush & Lomb pocket magnifier. But someone "borrowed" it. |

That means this is nominally a 2X magnifier, actual magnification dependent on distance between it and your eyeball lens, so in practical terms something < 2X. That sounds meager but it's actually standard for reading lenses. Bottom line: 5' is nonsense, 3X is nonsense, "exceptional quality" is nonsense. It's a cheap, ordinary, glass reading magnifier. As such, it's extraordinarily useful in the era of fine print. |

Both the 7X and 14X I purchased in 2014 are NOT marked Made in USA but exhibit the same excellent quality and appear to of identical construction as the old 10X. . I suspect that the modern models are not USA made but mine are precisely equal in quality to my original. There probably are knock offs around so don't be a cheapskate, purchase from a reliable supplier |

Some sellers may sell a real item , and some sellers may sell ripoffs. I just received mine from Amazon sold by Amazon, not by third party. It said Bausch & Lomb on the cardboard box, and on the cloth bag, and on the lupe itself. On the lupe itself were 3 lines of text: 14X Hastings Triplet Bausch & Lomb If it is not like that on the lupe itself, it is most likely a fraudulent item. |
