14 best mtg

Magic: The Gathering (MTG) is a highly popular collectible card game (CCG) created by mathematician Richard Garfield and first published by Wizards of the Coast in 1993. It is often referred to as one of the pioneers of the CCG genre and remains one of the most played and collected card games in the world. Here are some key points about Magic: The Gathering:

  1. Gameplay: MTG is a strategic and complex game played by two or more players. Each player builds a deck of cards using a variety of creatures, spells, and other magical abilities. The objective is to reduce your opponent's life total to zero, typically through combat or by using various card abilities.

  2. Card Types: Magic: The Gathering cards come in several different types, including creatures, sorceries, instants, enchantments, artifacts, planeswalkers, and lands. Each card type serves a different purpose and has specific rules associated with it.

  3. Mana: Mana is the resource used to cast spells and activate abilities in the game. Players generate mana by tapping lands (a type of card), and the color and amount of mana needed vary depending on the cards being played.

  4. Colors: MTG features five main colors of mana, each representing different magical themes and abilities. These colors are white, blue, black, red, and green. Decks are often categorized by their primary color or color combinations.

  5. Expansions and Sets: Magic: The Gathering releases new sets and expansions regularly, introducing new cards, mechanics, and themes. Players can collect cards from these sets and incorporate them into their decks.

  6. Booster Packs: Booster packs are the primary way players acquire new cards. Each booster pack contains a random assortment of cards, including common, uncommon, rare, and sometimes mythic rare cards. Collectors often seek rare and powerful cards.

  7. Deck Formats: MTG has various deck formats, including Standard, Modern, Legacy, Commander, and more. Each format has its own rules regarding which cards are legal to play, providing diverse gameplay experiences.

  8. Tournaments and Events: Magic: The Gathering hosts organized play events, including local game store tournaments, Grand Prix events, and the Pro Tour. These events offer competitive gameplay and the opportunity to win prizes.

  9. Collector's Market: Some MTG cards, especially rare and older ones, can become highly valuable and sought after by collectors. The game has a secondary market where players buy, sell, and trade cards.

  10. Community: MTG has a passionate and dedicated player community. Players often gather at local game stores, conventions, and online forums to discuss strategy, trade cards, and enjoy the game together.

Magic: The Gathering has a rich and evolving storyline, with characters, planes, and lore that are woven into the card sets. It has also inspired novels, video games, and other media related to the MTG universe. The game's depth and complexity make it appealing to both casual and competitive players, and it continues to thrive in the world of collectible card games.

Strixhaven: School of Mages

Welcome to Strixhaven, the Multiverse's most prestigious university for the study of magic!

Founded centuries ago by five spellcasting dragons—Strixhaven is divided into five colleges that reflect their founder's magical specialty and distinctive personality.

Silverquill (Black/White): Stylish wordsmiths who master the magic of words, from inspiring battle poetry to biting arcane insults.

Prismari (Red/Blue): Artsy elementalists wielding fire and ice with spells that are spectacles of raw creativity.

Witherbloom (Green/Black): Witchy biologists who brew herbal concoctions to control the essence of life and death.

Lorehold (Red/White): Adventurous historians who bring the spirits of the past to life and call forth magic from ancient tomes.

Quandrix (Blue/Green): Quirky math magicians who study patterns and fractals to command and multiply the forces of nature.

Choose your college and join the duel between schools for some friendly (and a tiny bit deadly) magical competition.

Your Shortcut to the Hottest Cards

Collector Boosters are the ultimate way to add special card styles and hard-to-find cards to your collection. Loaded with rares, foils, special card treatments, and more—if you're looking to collect the coolest cards in the set, look no further.

Every Strixhaven Collector Booster contains a combination of 5–6 Rare or Mythic Rare cards and a total of 6 cards with special treatments, with 11 traditional foils, 2 foil etched cards, and 1 foil token per pack.

Japanese Alt-Art Mystical Archive Cards

The most famous feature of Strixhaven's library is the Mystical Archive—a vast collection of spells that is said to contain a copy of every spell ever cast.

1–3 Japanese Alt-Art Cards in Every Pack

Every Strixhaven Collector Booster Pack contains at least three cards from the Mystical Archive—a sorcery or instant with beautiful art and a special showcase frame.

Every Mystical Archive card can also be found with a special treatment exclusive to Japanese-language cards, featuring stunning alternate art by Japanese artists. Strixhaven Collector Boosters are the only Strixhaven boosters that always contain at least one Japanese alt-art variant Mystical Archive card in every pack, with a possibility of up to three in every pack.

Foil Etched Cards

Unlike traditional foils with a solid shine that covers the entire card, foil etched cards feature foil delicately etched into the frames of the card.

Not found in any other Strixhaven boosters, every Strixhaven Collector Booster contains two foil etched Mystical Archive cards, including one foil etched Japanese alt-art variant, with a glitter that highlights their showcase frames and distinctive art.

Extended-Art Cards

Strixhaven Collector Boosters are the only Strixhaven boosters that include extended-art cards. These cards put the art of rare and mythic rare cards in the set on full display, with art that extends all the way to the border of the card.

Every pack contains one extended-art version of a rare or mythic rare card created for Strixhaven Commander Decks, plus the possibility of up to two more extended-art rare or mythic rare cards (may be single or double-faced).

Answer: They are NOT full art lands. There are 20 Regular frame lands, and 20 Foil regular frame lands.
Question: Is this worth the money? It’s for gameplay/collecting
Answer: For gameplay yes, it's themost current set. As for collecting, time will tell. I think the current price is $35 for the fatpack. Most LCS and WALMART are selling for $40.
Question: My friend said “make sure this has a box topper”. Idk what that is but does this have it
Answer: Box topper is a one of a kind card only found in buying a full box of boosters. You buy an unopened box this should have it. This card will not be found in packs.
Question: Does this include a code for mtg arena
Answer: No this doesn't have an arena code. You want Prerelease draft pack for that and it has a code with 6 packs of Zendikar Rising. Limit one code per account. Yoi won't get that with this box though.

WITHERBLOOM

College of Life and Death

“Within all life dwells a living essence, and this essence is the key to the most powerful magic imaginable. Do we use that essence to preserve the natural world, or devote life's power to our own mighty ends?”—Sabain Croctooth, Witherbloom professor of blood studies

Witherbloom mages draw power from the dichotomy between life and death. They’re at home riding zombie crocs down the river, picking herbs for potions, or summoning fearsome ancient avatars of nature.

Willowdusk, Essence Seer

No one knows how old Willowdusk really is. She claims to have been alive since the Blood Age, and although many suspect that’s an exaggeration, no one else has been alive long enough to refute it.

Many years ago, a group of rebellious students got hopelessly lost in Detention Bog and attempted to take shelter in what turned out to be Willowdusk’s roots. She obligingly protected them from a pack of hungry groffs and shepherded them back to Widdershins Hall, lecturing them on proper herb-gathering practices as they traveled. Her lessons proved so effective that she was asked to stay on as a professor. She loves passing on her knowledge of medicinal herbs, pest cultivation, and dissection techniques to generations of new students, and she always has a pot of tea brewing in her office.

Draw Power from the Essence of Life Itself

Life and Death Intertwine

Willowdusk is a studious Witherbloom professor with a deep understanding of life and death. Under her tutelage, you’ll learn to use your life total to full advantage. Pay life for powerful effects that grow your creatures and enhance your spells, then gain all that life back and more! Willowdusk’s abilities help you draw the right cards and keep your creatures strong. Revel in voracious vitality!

Brew up a Cauldron of Calamity

Introducing 17 Cards

Introducing more cards than any Commander Decks before them—each Strixhaven Commander Deck includes 16 cards created specifically for that deck, plus one land found across all five decks.

Get 16 cards that celebrate the unique strengths of the college they represent and one land representing a place every Strixhaven student knows well—Study Hall.

2 Foil Mythic Rare Legends in Every Deck

In addition to the foil Commander card, each deck also includes a foil, mythic rare legendary creature representing their college.

Witherbloom Witchcraft introduces Gyome, Master Chef. Anyone who thinks a troll can’t be a great chef has never met Gyome. He combines local ingredients with flavors from his wild Fernbosk homeland into an ever-changing menu of new delicacies.

At the beginning of your end step, Gyome will cook up a number of Food tokens equal to the number of non-token creatures you had enter the battlefield under your control that turn. Once you have food on the table, you can spend a mana to sacrifice a Food and a creature you target gains indestructible until the end of the turn. You'll have to tap them, though—Gyome's portions have a tendency to be unreasonably large.

QUANDRIX

College of Numeromancy

“We disagree whether numbers exist out in the world, or whether mathematics is a purely logical exercise that exists only in our minds. But we agree that we’re the only ones who study the truly fundamental forces of reality.” — Imbraham, Quandrix Dean

Quandrix mages are ingenious math magicians. They study patterns, fractals, and symmetries to command power over the fundamental forces of nature. They love to expand and multiply anything by manipulating and bending numbers.

Adrix and Nev, Twincasters

Amid the mana-rich waters of the Pinzari Isles, the twins Adrix and Nev grew up literally swimming in magic. At an early age, they began to see patterns in the tides and currents that eluded even the most esteemed scholars of their society. Once, they saved a hundred lives by predicting the sudden arrival of a tsunami despite the deceptively calm seas. After that, any doubts about their prowess were washed away. At Strixhaven, they received special permission to teach as a duo, blending mastery of blue and green mana. They constantly debate the merits of various esoteric mathematical principles, but if one of their students is in danger, they leap into action in perfect harmony.

Double Down on Tokens

Bring Multiplication to the Table

What’s better than doing something once? Doing something twice! Twice! Twin Quandrix professors Adrix and Nev duplicate each creature token you create. So whether it’s an army of smaller tokens, pairs of enormous Fractals, or a battlefield filled with copies of other creatures, Adrix and Nev will help. Multiply your power to divide and conquer the game. It all adds up!

Find Power in Numbers

2 Foil Mythic Rare Legends in Every Deck

In addition to the foil Commander card, each deck also includes a foil, mythic rare legendary creature representing their college.

Quantum Quandrix introduces Esix, Fractal Bloom—a living theorem obsessed with infinity, Esix was created accidentally by a group of Quandrix students tasked with devising an infinite equation. Over the years, a few professors have attempted to deactivate it, but Esix never seems to register these would-be threats, consumed as it is with its own calculations.

Aim for infinity and multiply your army. With the help of Esix's calculations, the first time you would create one or more tokens on your turn, you can choose a different creature to create token copies of instead.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this factory Sealed
Answer: As I do not remember how many land cards come with this it may be wiser to start off with a deck building kit from Walmart or any store that sells them. Also if there is a gaming store in your area that is licensed for Magic (wizards of the coast) then you should be able to get two decks for free. I think they are called starter decks but I could be wrong about that. The person at the counter should know. These decks will have land cards in them and are great for introducing someone to the game.

About Magic: The Gathering

Magic: The Gathering fuses playing cards and trading cards: players face off with decks they’ve built by selecting cards from a larger pool.

That customization means every game plays out a little differently, and makes Magic the deepest strategy card game there is. At every step, players must draw on their critical thinking skills to calculate the perfect strategy, predict the oncoming attack, and outwit their opponent.

And it's more than cards. It’s stories. It’s art. It’s a community twenty-five years in the making, with players, fans, and artists from all around the world united by a love of the game.
