Question:	Is this the newest 'deluxe' version? I see another deluxe version with drawers to hold the pieces
Answer:	The actual playing surface is 13" x 13" but on the left and the right side are curved sections which extend 3 1/2" beyond the edge of the playing surface, so the maximum width is 20". The plastic ridges are great for keeping the tiles in place. The board does come in two loosely interlocking sections, so you have to be a bit careful in picking the board up, especially if there are already words in place. Still, a good, moderately priced deal.

Answer:	Hello John...the tiles are the same as any "regular" size scrabble game...that's not marked as oversized...or the obvious smaller magnetic travel boards. And are not perfectly square...but measure approx. 3/4x3/4 inches (2cmx2cm). The playing surface the same as the bigger boards...that have other types of boarders. Hope this helps.

Question:	Do they still make the scrabble Diamond Edition that was self contained in it's own black plastic carrying case
Answer:	My best guess without seeing the Diamond Anniversary edition, is that the Diamond edition has the raised grid to hold letters in place better. With the Deluxe version, we've never had an issue with the letters moving around unless you get too wild and crazy. I like the little drawers on the side to put in the trays and letters and it swivels. and then it folds in half for easy storage. Unless you're a hardcore Scrabble Player and have to have the Diamond version, I think that you'd be very happy with the Deluxe board and get to save $50! Happy Playing. Edit** guess I may have bought the Diamond Anniversary instead of the Deluxe version. I bought it for a gift for a friend and have played on it several times, but I don't have it in house to look at. But I guess as the reviewer said in another comment, it does have black tiles with silver lettering. I think I paid $30-$35 for mine. I think $100 is a bit high. There are some used for sale as well.

While it's relatively smooth and sits relatively flush to a flat surface, you might need to put something between the board and the table to protect the table and also perhaps to keep the board itself from moving. Hi there! Thanks for your question. We understand your concern. The playing surface IS on the exterior of the cabinet. If you look at the image of the product in the retail box that's in the image gallery, you can see the playing surface. That's with the item closed and all the contents stored inside. The cabinet hinges in the middle of the playing field. If you keep the retail box and a careful with it, the game can be stored inside when not in use to protect the playing surface. Hope that helps.
