How to Play

A typical game of Qwirkle lasts about 45 minutes--longer when you're first learning how to play--and players will likely catch on to the rules in no time at all. The game can be set up anywhere, although a large tabletop is best to accommodate the generous number of tiles. The only other thing you'll need is a pencil and paper to keep track of everyone's point count. Each tile has an illustration on the back (circle, eight-point star, four-point star, square, clover, or diamond). Each of these symbols appears in six different colors (red, yellow, orange, green, blue, and purple). In total, the game has three tiles each of the 36 possible color-symbol combinations. To help make sure you don't lose any tiles in between games, Qwirkle comes with a drawstring storage pouch which is also used during game play.

Straightforward, Easy-to-Follow Rules

As in Scrabble, the game starts with players drawing their own "hand" of six tiles. The player with the most tiles that share something in common (color or symbol) plays their pieces and wins points. And so it goes until the pieces make up a giant grid. One rule adults will likely need to reiterate to little ones is that duplicate tiles aren't allowed. For instance, if someone has three diamonds, and two of them are green, they can only play one of those green diamonds on a turn. As play continues and the stakes get higher, younger kids may need some help deciding where to build to maximize their points. To keep younger childfren engaged, parents can distribute half the number of tiles to start. The game is over when all the tiles have been played and all the points have been tallied.

Qwirkle Cubes

Qwirkle Cubes combines favorite Qwirkle game play with the added excitement found in dice-rolling games. Players can roll their cubes for a chance to get the colors and shapes they want to score more points. Complete a line of 6 tiles with no duplicate attributes to score a “Qwirkle!”

Qwirkle Bonus

Qwirkle fans asking for tile racks will love the Qwirkle Bonus Pack! 4 racks display and organize each player’s hand of tiles during play. The pack also includes a score pad and colorful Qwirkle pencil to tally points.

Qwirkle Rummy

Qwirkle Rummy is the fun family card game based on MindWare’s award-winning game! Players create sets of cards by matching suits or colors and laying them face up on the table. Any player can add to any set or switch cards in the sets but the real payoff happens when a set of all 6 shapes or colors is completed and a Qwirkle is scored. A little bit of strategy and a little bit of luck is all it takes — as long as you keep your eyes on the cards and your mind in the game!

User questions & answers

Question: does this game fit boy age
Answer: Yes. 6 is a perfect age! We started playing this game with a 6 year old and a 3 year old. The 3 year old, of course, needed help each turn. Our 6 year old, once she understood the rules after the first game, picked out Qwirkles faster than we could. She absolutely loved the challenge. A perfect game that is fun for both young and older minds.
Question: Would a six year old enjoy this game
Answer: Yes, expansion packs are available. I have seen listings here on Amazon.com.
Question: is it okay for a boy with ADHD who is age
Answer: I think it's 6-8 pieces. When I last played in Sept. it was a large group of us (12) so we broke up in teams of husbands and wives for the 6 playing pieces. It's a fun game.
Question: Is this item sealed in the box
Answer: The cards have a list of facts about each item or person. The last clue is always the initials. They are meant to be read in order to the group and anyone can shout out the answer when they think they know it. For example: answer is Hilary Clinton. I was born in 1947.I was governor's wife.I'n not from London, but I have a connection to Chelsea.I became First Lady.I have the initials H. C.Answer is Thailand.I am a country in Southeast Asia.My food is considered spicy. When visiting, you might ride in a tuk-tuk.Anna visited a king here.If you're old, you may know me as Siam.I have the initial T.Answer is Traffic Light.I was invented by Garret Morgan.I am found on nearly every busy street.People sometimes ignore me, but with consequences. I can be computerized.Sometimes I am on a timer.I control the movement of cars.I have three colors. My initials are T. L.I didn't write our all the clues, there are 10 on each card, but I hope this us enough to get an idea of how it works. I wanted to upload pictures, but this page wouldn't allow it. I'll keep trying to figure it out, though.

Question: Is the board game a different game and sold separately
Answer: Yes... It is a sealed box
Question: We found a broken sand-timer when we opened the game. Does anyone know how much time the sand-timer is set for? Thank you
Answer: I can't confirm what they are made of now, but the game we have that I purchased on Amazon was made of painted wooden tiles.
Question: Does anyone know how many there are of each mystery item? Some Goldbug items we're able to find 10 (# of magnifying glasses), do they all have
Answer: There are different shape and color attribute pieces which are placed to form strings much like scrabble. Certain combinations constitute a 'quirkle' some combinations are worth more or less points. The game is quick to play and children can participate since the pieces are matched by color and shape, spelling and vocabulary skills are not required, yet to achieve some high point combinations can be challenging too.
Question: what age group
Answer: WE had 5 play with one game so I'm sure with 2 games you could have 8. WE also found that 4 and 5 year olds could play it.

Sorry! Board Game for Kids Ages 6 and Up; Classic Hasbro Board Game; Each Player Gets 4 Pawns (Pawn Colors May Vary) – Amazon Exclusive

Hasbro Gaming

Based on 3 reviews Check latest price

Product description

In this edition of the Sorry! game, each player gets 4 pawns (colors may vary) to move around the gameboard. Players need to pick a 1 or a 2 card to get a pawn out of the starting area, and then challenge opponents in this classic game of sweet revenge! It's an unpredictable game of strategy, chance and luck as players chase, race, bump, slide, and score. Be the first player to get all 4 pawns to home base to win. This family board game is a great choice for Family Game Night! For ages 6 and up.

This classic game of luck, strategy, and determination is easy to grasp for children as young as 6 years old, yet it's fun for adults and older siblings too. By drawing cards, players move their game pieces around the board, hoping to eventually accumulate all their pieces at the final destination--home sweet home. Sorry is known as the game of "sweet revenge," since players can send each other's pawns back to the starting line, thus forcing one another to lose ground and begin all over again. This kind of frustration may be hard for children under age 8 to handle. In fact, young ones typically crumble into tears of outrage when their pawns are cavalierly sent back. The only recourse is to teach children how to plot their own revenge, which makes them feel as powerful as superheroes.

User questions & answers

Question: Will this be the original version as pictured or will it be the new "fire and Ice" version? want the old one
Answer: My 2-yr old absolutely loves this game. She plays the game with us for hours. I bought 5-6 toddler/preschooler board games and no other games could ever have her engaged for that long. She gets confused about two aspects of the game though: 1) she may start looking for objects from a previous turn while undertaking the current Goldbug search; 2) reaching the island does not seem to be her goal of the game - she's too happy to share the food with the pigs.
Question: Is this better than the 2013 version? I would like to buy the original one but don't understand the difference between the two... Thanks
Answer: I would say yes. My daughter is 6 and she likes this game.
Question: Is this game as pictured (i.e. classic sorry with 16 game pieces) or is it the 2013 version with 12 game pieces and some super power discs
Answer: Actually 2 1/2 year olds love to just drop the checkers into the slots...then when older can learn game.
Question: Is this going to be the orignial version? Otherwise I will look elsewhere
Answer: I'm 35, been diagnosed with ADHD since I was 4. The answer: Yes. Unless he's still putting everything in his mouth it should be fine. And he's 10....sooo....

Googly Eyes Game — Family Drawing Game with Crazy, Vision-Altering Glasses

Goliath

Based on 3 reviews Check latest price

Product description

Googly Eyes is the hilarious family game that challenges your vision and leaves you googling for more! Put on the zany, vision-altering google eye glasses and start to draw while your team tries to guess what you're drawing. Is that an igloo or a turtle? A birthday cake or a fortress? Players take turns drawing and guessing, so everyone gets a chance to wear the glasses. The glasses come with three sets of lenses that range from mild changes to mind-blowing fun, so no one can see (or draw) straight--your vision will bounce off of the lenses. Googly Eyes is a fun twist on classic drawing games that lets players of different ages and skill levels compete on equal terms, since the goggles make it fun and challenging for everyone. Unlike any other drawing game you don't need to be an artist, and the rules are simple. Just roll the die and move--the space you land on tells you which color lenses to use (easy, medium, or hard). Then pick a card, set the timer, and start drawing. If your team guesses correctly you get to roll and move again; if not, then you stay where you are on the board. The first team to reach Finish wins. For ages 7 and up. 4-16 players.

  • Put on the vision-altering goggles and draw--no need to be an artist
  • Can you get your team to guess what you're drawing before time runs out?
  • Great for people of all ages to play together--the goggles make it challenging for everyone to see (and draw) straight
  • Simple rules, fast to play, with hilarious results
  • For ages 7 & up. Suitable for Boys and Girls

User questions & answers

Question: what is the age range for this game
Answer: Thanks so much for asking! The product is made in China and I'd love to give you a little background that probably is too much information but thought some people might be interested as to how a 7-year-old made manufacturing decisions. There are card game manufactures in the US and most have extremely high minimum order quantities so when Alex (the then 7-year-old inventor) was first starting out with his Kickstarter he couldn't meet their minimum order quantities. We found an amazing company in China (The company's name is Bang Wee - Alex loved the name) who was willing to do smaller quantities and they were super supportive even though they knew he was only 7 years old. Since that initial Kickstarter the game has really taken off and Alex can order the larger quantities that a US manufacturer requires but he would still be a small fish for manufacturers who often work with big toy companies. He also knows that without Bang Wee he might not have ever been able to bring this product to life and they have been so good to him so he's decided to stay with that original manufacturer...although we make a point to review that every year and this year will go back to some US manufacturers to see if we can find a good fit. Also, finding manufacturers who work well with kids will be key (Alex is 9 now) as many people are not used to working with kids in manufacturing and thus Bang Wee has really shined in that regard. Also with the potential tariffs going in effect this month, Alex is learning a ton of about international trade which is such a great experience for him too. I mean how better to understand how tariffs work than to pay them yourself. We will update this Q&A if we do switch to a US Manufacturer.
Question: There are two options for ordering: multi color and premium. What's the difference
Answer: it was the new version when I received it. I also wanted the old one. The picture is not accurate.
Question: What is the difference between Multi-color & premium pack game
Answer: This one has the same rules as the original: much better than the 2013 version!!
Question: Our glasses broke. Would like to get a replacement pair. Anyone know where to get some
Answer: It's the 2013, 12 piece version...
Question: Where do I buy the extention for more people to play
Answer: This is not the original. The classic version had they grey board.
Question: I'm 78. can i still play? what about when i turn
Answer: Yes. This is a completely different game and sold separately than the board game. It is similar in that you are finding things in the pictures but this is a quicker type of game than the board game.
Question: I saw on a youtube video explaining the game of Taco vs Burrito that there is an expansion pack. Where can one buy the expansion pack
Answer: The cheapest solution is to visit a thrift store and buy a $2 copy of Yahtzee or any other game that has a sand timer. However, if the game was shipped and sold by Amazon, see if it's within your return window for a refund.
Question: Is it made in USA
Answer: We've been wondering the same thing! My kids are convinced there are 10 of each item, even though we haven't been able to locate them all.

The twisted timer is the coolest!

User questions & answers

Question: How long does one game last on average
Answer: Yes. 2 people can play.
Question: Is it worth it buying the jr version vs the full one? I have a 5 year old
Answer: The box says ages 7 and up. Children playing need to be able to read the cards to know what to draw. We let our 4 year old play, and every time it was his turn I told him to draw any shape he wanted and we had to guess which shape (he can't read and can only draw simple shapes but had so much fun with us!).
Question: How old should children be to play
Answer: Hi, thank you for the question. For this game, Googly Eyes, there is currently only one version available right now so there is no difference. It appears that the other version is just from a different seller.
Question: what are the dimensions of the box
Answer: Thanks for your inquiry, we're happy to help! There is no difference in these games - the ones that say they are a ‘Premium’ game are sold by a 3rd party seller. If we may be of further assistance, please contact us directly - http://support.goliathgames.com/homepage

User questions & answers

Question: Would either this or the Jr. set be fun for a 3 yr old? My son is smart, but not sure if this would be too tough. Other game suggestions
Answer: We never figured out how to get Alexa to work with this game. She was responding as if we were playing a different game with actual rooms. Very confusing. Awful game.
Question: My son is turning 6 and pretty good at logic/puzzle things. Would you recommend this set or the JR one
Answer: You don't need Alexa to play the game, it is just a fun addition.
Question: I'd like to get Rush Hour for my daughter who just turned eight. I can't decide if I should get the "Jr" version or the regular one? Thoughts
Answer: Not by the same people. Unless you all have really bad memory skills.
Question: Approximately how long does it take to work through one puzzle? I teach 4th grade and thought this would be a fun "free time" activity
Answer: Yes, two people (or more) can open and start playing. No setup required. The game leads you through what you will need beforehand. Lots of fun!

If they land on a Slide they can zip to the end and bump their opponents' pawns – or their own! Jump over pawns and hide in the Safety zone where opponents can't go. Kids keep on moving and bumping until they get all three of their pawns from Start to Home. But watch out, because if the pawn gets bumped, Sorry! It's all the way back to Start! User questions & answers

Question: Are the cards flexible or do they break easily
Answer: LOL- I bet you got ours! We opened ours at Christmas and didn't have any fox icon (no big deal) or clue cards (couldn't play). I contacted Playwright and they said they could send replacements in 2-4 weeks.
Question: Milborne card game
Answer: Depends on how many are playing. With me and my 2 kids it’s probably an hour plus long for us.
Question: What Is It Made Out Of
Answer: This jr version was worth it to me for my 5 year old because the game lasts closer to 30 minutes from start to finish which is better for his age child to stay focused. Also he can understand all the concepts involved. We’ve tried the regular version now that he gets the jr completely and he’s still not totally ready for it. I think it’s great for ages 5-8. Then they’ll want to move up.
Question: I am looking for the classic version and am not sure why this version has 3 markers of each when it should be 4? Thanks
Answer: I have a 4 year old and a 7 seven year old. Youngest is able to play with some assistance. Older can play with minimal to no assistance. Although, older one has been able to play regular Monopoly with little assistance, too. Is very basic, just $1 bills, simplified instructions. We will keep playing this jr version until the youngest kid can handle the original version (maybe when he is around 7 years).

User questions & answers

Question: How big are the pictures inside the game? (The character pictures in the parts you flip down
Answer: I just got this and I didn't pay attention to that fact, but wish I had. This is NOT the classic Sorry. Only 3 of each color, you can move out of start on ANY number, not just 1 and 2 (so there aren't very many 1's and 2's, so it's not like you can just use the old rules cause you feel like it). With a Sorry card, you can move forward 4 instead of doing the Sorry, and there are a lot fewer cards in the deck. Very different and not nearly as fun. I guess for young kids it might be easier and a shorter game this way, but I hate it.
Question: how does it work?Sorry
Answer: That is how they should be. Each decoder only has three green circles to represent a clue that the suspect fox IS wearing. So most of the time when you check the decoder it will show you white.
Question: Is there any black characters in this game
Answer: Each game has a different suspect. You can play the game over and over. My daughter and I have.
Question: Would this game do pretty well as a travel game for a car ride? Do the white plastic pieces come off of the boards or stay attached
Answer: Too long? No. Too young? Possibly. My 4.5 year old understands it and can play with parent help. A smart 9 year old might not find it challenging enough.
