Codenames duet keeps the basic elements of codenames give one word clues to try to get someone to identify your agents among those on the table but now you're working together as a team to find all of your agents. (Why you don't already know who your agents are is a question that CONGRESSIONAL investigators will get on your back about later!) to set up play, lay out 25 word cards in a 5x5 grid. Place a key card in the holder so that each player sees one side of the card. Each player sees a 5x5 grid on the card, with nine of the Squares colored Green (representing your agents) and one square colored black (representing an assassin). the assassin is in different places on each side of the card, and three of the nine Squares on each side are also Green on the other side! collectively, you need to reveal all fifteen agents — without revealing either assassin or too many innocent bystanders — before time runs out in order to win the game. Either player can decide to give a one word clue to the other player, along with a number. Whoever receives the clue places a finger on a card to identify that Agent. If correct, they can attempt to identify another one. If they reveal as many as the number stated by the clue giver, then they can take one final guess, if desired. If they identify a bystander, then their guessing time ends. If they identify an assassin, you both lose.
- 400 all new words compatible with original codenames
- New cooperative gameplay
- Campaign mode to record your progress
- Variable difficulty to challenge even the greatest spies
- Great with two players, or more
User questions & answers
Question: | What is the map for |
Answer: | It is called the "Mission Map". It gives you a way to string together multiple games. Look at page 9 of the rules for more about that. Dave |
Question: | What other Codenames versions is Duet compatible with |
Answer: | Honestly, I think the Duet version of the game is compatible with any other Codenames version. The main difference is that instead of having a single-sided "grid" of the words, the duet version uses a dual-sided grid that differ on each side so each player is trying to guess different cards. You can use those grids for the playing cards that come with Duet or with the cards that come from any other version of Codenames. |
Question: | Is this game appropriate for children age |
Answer: | It requires a reasonably well developed capacity for lateral thinking, as well as a wide-ranging vocabulary (not necessarily a sophisticated vocabulary however). The rules can be easily taught and the box lists playing age as 11+, so I suspect bright 10 year-olds could play. The challenge level can also be modified and so feel less daunting. I have not yet played it with children of that age so take my comments with a pinch of salt! You may also want to consider Codenames: Pictures which has similar rules but uses images rather than words. Note that it is for larger competitive group play, while Duet is a 2-player cooperative game. If you buy both games, as I recently did for a friend, you could mix the image cards with the 2-player rules. |
Question: | Is this a cooperative game then |
Answer: | It is! You can play with just two people, or you can play in teams with more people (like original Codenames). There's not a lot of talking going on during the game, because you just give one-word hints, but you cooperate in the same vein as solving a puzzle together. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How many points to you get if you get the question right? It only tells you how many points to delete if you get the question wrong |
Answer: | My wife and I have been using question games and books for over a year. We usually spend 45 minutes a day asking and answering questions. It has brought us closer together and is exciting to find out something new even though we've been married over 50 years. Sometimes the simplest question can lead to major discussions. Also check out books of questions some having over 4000 questions. Some questions are similar but that's OK because people change over time and it keeps you current with who your partner really is. |
Question: | Are the questions multiple choice |
Answer: | Yes. Pretty clean |
Question: | How many players does it take |
Answer: | This game works for both married and unmarried couples. There are people in a relationship for under a year and know each other well enough to fully play the game. If you take a look at a few example cards that we have in the image section of the listing and feel that you guys can answer a few of them, then the game will probably work well for you guys! |
Question: | What happens after you answer all the questions throw it away |
Answer: | Unfortunately not at the moment. We'll announce it if we do release an expansion pack in the near future. |

Players score light points if their trees are in the direct lines of sun rays or taller than the trees blocking them from the sun rays. User questions & answers
Question: | What is the age range for this game |
Answer: | That depends. We have an 8-year old niece who could handle the game just fine, but she is pretty exceptional. On average, my guess would be 12 and up. The game isn't hard, but it's very spatial. |
Question: | Can this game be played with 2 people |
Answer: | Yes it can! I believe you can play with 2-4 players. |
Question: | How difficult is this for someone who has NO board game experience? (I know that’s a mean question |
Answer: | It's not mean, it's considerate. If it is too heavy to start out on, they will be scared away. Crawl before you walk! This game is a great entry level game. Concepts are really easy to understand. My wife and I game a lot but she really enjoys the 30-45 min games that don't go super deep. One of her favorites is Carcassonne because she just really likes the games that are quick and you can play a few games back to back. This game is one of those games. Light and fun, and really good. I bought this one for her because she likes these type of games. We play this one a lot. This falls right in with games like Ticket to Ride and Catan, because there is strategy in the game and not just a bunch of random chance. We love this game! |
Question: | what's the difference between the basic and premium versions |
Answer: | There are no premium version sold directly from Blue Orange Games, however some private sellers might be offering expansion packs with the regular version. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How long is an average game |
Answer: | It probably depends on the number of players. Even learning the game, we finish 2 player games in less than 30 minutes. |
Question: | See a lot of great reviews for kids... would it be too easy/ boring for adults |
Answer: | It does not become boring because the "journey cards" change from game to game. It's 90% planning/execution and 10% luck. It's a great game. |
Question: | Is this game the same as Trekking the National Parks, just with different destinations |
Answer: | The two games are based on the same general system, but there are lots of differences. Here are the biggest: MOVEMENT - in both games, you move from location to location, picking up items. The difference: in Trekking the World, you must move on every turn. This deepens the route-management puzzle, and rewards clever route-making more often. REGION BONUS - Trekking the National Parks ends when the last stone is removed from the map. The spirit of this rule remains in Trekking the World, but in a new form: the world map is divided into six regions. A player who gets the last souvenir in a region gets a face-down region bonus with a hidden number of points on it. When any 5 of the 6 region bonuses are taken, the game ends. This bonus system has two effects: 1. It’s a more reliable game timer. 2. It creates a new strategic wrinkle: you must now angle for region bonuses, as well as deny your opponents access, on top of your other goals. MOST SOUVENIRS - In both games you earn bonuses for having the most of a particular item-type. Trekking the National Parks awards them at the end of the game. Trekking the World awards them during the game, and players can steal them from each other by collecting more items. Once you get a bonus, you must figure out how to keep it (or strategically sacrifice it), while pursuing your other goals. Strategy can change a lot game-to-game depending on the competition for these bonuses. SUITCASES - Trekking the National Parks didn’t have suitcases. Trekking the World does. A suitcase is a player-board where you store your collection of Souvenirs. Each player has one. It rewards players at the end of the game for gathering specific sets of souvenir-types. The more of these sets you collect, the bigger your payout at game’s end. JOURNEY CARDS - Trekking the National Parks didn’t have Journey Cards, Trekking the World does. Before each play, you draw two Journey Cards at random from a deck, and they will be permanent fixtures of that play. They offer optional actions that are both powerful and expensive, like lowering the cost of destinations, or allowing you to swap your location with another player’s. Journey cards can have a major effect on strategy from game-to-game. |
Question: | Can just two people play |
Answer: | Yes! |
- PLAY IT ANY TIME ANY PLACE- Convenient take anywhere size game.
- SIMPLE AND HILARIOUS- Fast paced laugh out loud fun for any get together.
- WILDLY POPULAR- Perfect for all-ages.
- GET ROLLING IN SECONDS- Takes only a minute to learn and gameplay lasts for about 10 to 15 minutes.

Question: | Can you buy a second deck so you can play with more than 8 people |
Answer: | We bought two decks to play with more people, but we found you cant really play with more people because everyone has to be able to reach the discarded cards to slap the deck. |
Question: | can this be played with 2 players |
Answer: | This can be played by 2 or more people |

Answer: | It does not contain real goat cheese, but it may contain real goats :) |
Question: | How Many Calories In It |
Answer: | None, but you can burn some calories off with this card game from the interactive cards and the laughing involved. |

What Is This?
Exploding Kittens is a highly-strategic, kitty-powered version of Russian roulette. It is the most funded game in the history of Kickstarter and has paved the way for peace and tranquility in the modern world. It also features cards illustrated by The Oatmeal.
You Draw Cards
You put cards on the table and take turns drawing from them.
Until You Explode
If you draw an Exploding Kitten, you explode and are out of the game.
Unless
You can avoid exploding if you play a Defuse Card. Defuse Cards distract the Exploding Kittens with things like laser pointers, kitten yoga, and catnip sandwiches.
Or
You can also play various cards to skip your turn, attack other players, peek at the deck, or secretly relocate an Exploding Kitten Card.
Product description
Azul was designed by the world famous, award winning game author Michael Riesling. Azul captures the beautiful aesthetics of Moorish art in a contemporary board game. Players compete as artisans decorating the walls of the royal Palace of Dvora. By carefully drafting the correct Quantity and style of tiles, the most clever of artisans plan ahead to maximize the beauty of their work (not to mention their scores!) while ensuring they wasted no supplies in the process. Introduced by the moors, "azulejos" (originally white and blue ceramic tiles) were fully embraced by the Portuguese, when their King Manuel I, on a visit to the Alhambra Palace in Southern Spain, was mesmerized by the stunning beauty of the Moorish decorative tiles. The King, awestruck by the interior beauty of the Alhambra, immediately ordered that his own Palace in Portugal be decorated with similar wall tiles. As a tile laying artist, you have been challenged to embellish the walls of the royal Palace of Dvora.
- High quality components and fun, accessible gameplay
- Fun tile drafting and tile placement mechanics
- For 2 4 artisans, age 8 and up
- Game plays in 30 40 minutes
User questions & answers
Question: | Can this game be expanded for more players if you purchase two sets |
Answer: | I would suggest using two copies to have two concurrent games running. Less downtime waiting for 5+ players, and much harder to plan a turn. Can still play at the same table though! |
Question: | Which edition is this? 2017 first edition, or the 2018 second edition |
Answer: | The one we sell is copyrighted 2018 with bar code 826956600107. The vendor ID # is NMG 60010EN (Next Move Games, a trademark of Plan B Games). There is no edition identification on the game box. |
Question: | Illegal move in second image, yellow tile |
Answer: | Yup, you can't put that yellow tile there. |
Question: | What is he difference between the basic and full pack |
Answer: | I don't think there is any difference in what you receive. The game is the game. |

Build a mosaic fit for a monarch!
Azul is a tile-placement game in which players compete for the highest score by claiming tiles and arranging them on their board to score points.
Extra points are on offer for collecting sets of the same colour of tile, or for creating particular patterns, while there are penalties for taking tiles that you're unable to use.
But every tile that you claim affects what your rivals can take next. You'll have to make choices that help you without helping them too much!
The Best Game of 2018
Azul was the proud winner of the 2018 Spiel des Jahres, the most prestigious prize in board gaming! The award recognises games that are great for players of all ages and levels of experience - and it's an assurance of fun and quality.

User questions & answers
Question: | does the insert fit sleeved cards |
Answer: | They will not fit with sleeves on them. My solution, rather than ditch the insert, was to make cuts into the plastic corners of the card wells. This way I could bend the walls of the card wells a little bit to give me the little bit of room that I needed to have the sleeved cards easily fit. Only takes about 2-3 minutes, keeps the insert, and lets the sleeved cards fit perfectly. Tried to attach a photo, but Amazon doesn't allow it for answers to questions. |
Question: | I just received this game and all of the cards and instructions are in Chinese. Anyone else have this problem |
Answer: | I have the same problem. The first order was in Chinese. I filed and got a replacement. It just arrived and is also in Chinese. |
Question: | I heard that this game was already out of print? Why is that |
Answer: | It is now back in print as of today. The prices here on Amazon should be more competitive now. |
Question: | If you could only get this or the original 7 Wonders, and you will mostly only get to play with one other person, which would you buy |
Answer: | 7 Wonders does have a 2 player variation, but it is nothing compared to 7 Wonders Duel!! Duel changes a number of elements from the original 7 Wonders, making it more cut throat. Everything is connected - how much resources cost and how much money you can get from discarding is dependent on the cards you and your opponent have already played. There are a number of new functions that allow you to directly block your opponent - from discarding cards they have already played to taking their money. It is super fun - I love 7 Wonders, but I love Duel more - to the extent that I wish they made a Duel variety for more than 2 players. I would definitely point you towards Duel! That being said, there are ways to make the 2-player variation in 7 Wonders more exciting - playing with multiple boards per player is a lot of fun! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Do you get more points based on where you hit the other person with the burrito |
Answer: | Burn it, to appease the trivia gods |
Question: | Are the burritos made of latex |
Answer: | Yes!! My wife and i’s marriage is strong and going great. But I could see where this could boost conversation, as well as get you thinking about maybe things you’d like to do with your partner. We played this game on 2-3 rod trips already. Only bad thing, it’s pretty much a one time use. No point in asking or discussing the same topics over and over. Hope this helps!! |
Question: | Can I play with real burritos |
Answer: | Hey Shelly, thanks for reaching out! Definitely! Whether new or married for a long time, couples will learn something new about their partners when using the cards. The questions are truly designed to get you into a meaningful conversation and is suitable for different stages in your relationship. |
Question: | Can I order extra burritos if the dog ate half of one |
Answer: | Definitely not a game. Cards have questions for each other to answer in order to converse and maybe learn something new about your partner or just to get each other talking. More a healthy relationship builder than a game. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the game suited for team play |
Answer: | Definitely suited for team play. The questions can be quite challenging, so collaboration is helpful. |
Question: | Is game in polish |
Answer: | No, English only. |
Question: | We have 12 people at game night. Would we split up into two teams to play |
Answer: | The box says it is for 2 to 6 players / teams. There are no other instructions inside that address that question. So I would assume that if you have 2 teams of 6 = 12 players. |
Question: | Is this too hard or adult for a pre-teen |
Answer: | Most pre-teens may not have the general knowledge needed to answer many of the questions. The game is more adult, not that it has inappropriate questions. It would certainly be very educational for a pre-teen but they may fall behind the other players initially. |
