  1. Chess: Chess is one of the most classic and well-known two-player board games. It's a strategy game where each player controls an army of pieces, including a king, queen, bishops, knights, rooks, and pawns. The objective is to checkmate your opponent's king.

  2. Checkers (Draughts): Checkers is another classic board game for two players. It's played on an 8x8 board with 12 pieces per player. The goal is to capture your opponent's pieces and reach the opposite end of the board to "king" your pieces.

  3. Backgammon: Backgammon is a two-player game played with dice and counters on a board. The objective is to move your pieces around the board and bear them off while trying to block your opponent.

  9. Star Realms: Star Realms is a deck-building card game where players build powerful space fleets and bases to defeat their opponent. It's known for its quick gameplay and strategic depth.

  10. Onitama: Onitama is a martial arts-themed board game where players use cards to move their pieces and defeat their opponent's master. It's a mix of chess-like strategy and card-driven gameplay.

These are just a few examples of two-player games, and there are many more to explore within the world of board games, card games, and tabletop games. Depending on your preferences, you can find games that suit various themes and levels of complexity for enjoyable two-player gaming experiences.

Czech Games Codenames: Duet - The Two Player Word Deduction Game

Czech Games

Based on 3 reviews Check latest price

Product description

Codenames duet keeps the basic elements of codenames give one word clues to try to get someone to identify your agents among those on the table but now you're working together as a team to find all of your agents. (Why you don't already know who your agents are is a question that CONGRESSIONAL investigators will get on your back about later!) to set up play, lay out 25 word cards in a 5x5 grid. Place a key card in the holder so that each player sees one side of the card. Each player sees a 5x5 grid on the card, with nine of the Squares colored Green (representing your agents) and one square colored black (representing an assassin). the assassin is in different places on each side of the card, and three of the nine Squares on each side are also Green on the other side! collectively, you need to reveal all fifteen agents — without revealing either assassin or too many innocent bystanders — before time runs out in order to win the game. Either player can decide to give a one word clue to the other player, along with a number. Whoever receives the clue places a finger on a card to identify that Agent. If correct, they can attempt to identify another one. If they reveal as many as the number stated by the clue giver, then they can take one final guess, if desired. If they identify a bystander, then their guessing time ends. If they identify an assassin, you both lose.

  • 400 all new words compatible with original codenames
  • New cooperative gameplay
  • Campaign mode to record your progress
  • Variable difficulty to challenge even the greatest spies
  • Great with two players, or more

User questions & answers

Question: What is the map for
Answer: It is called the "Mission Map". It gives you a way to string together multiple games. Look at page 9 of the rules for more about that. Dave
Question: What other Codenames versions is Duet compatible with
Answer: Honestly, I think the Duet version of the game is compatible with any other Codenames version. The main difference is that instead of having a single-sided "grid" of the words, the duet version uses a dual-sided grid that differ on each side so each player is trying to guess different cards. You can use those grids for the playing cards that come with Duet or with the cards that come from any other version of Codenames.
Question: Is this game appropriate for children age
Answer: It requires a reasonably well developed capacity for lateral thinking, as well as a wide-ranging vocabulary (not necessarily a sophisticated vocabulary however). The rules can be easily taught and the box lists playing age as 11+, so I suspect bright 10 year-olds could play. The challenge level can also be modified and so feel less daunting. I have not yet played it with children of that age so take my comments with a pinch of salt! You may also want to consider Codenames: Pictures which has similar rules but uses images rather than words. Note that it is for larger competitive group play, while Duet is a 2-player cooperative game. If you buy both games, as I recently did for a friend, you could mix the image cards with the 2-player rules.
Question: Is this a cooperative game then
Answer: It is! You can play with just two people, or you can play in teams with more people (like original Codenames). There's not a lot of talking going on during the game, because you just give one-word hints, but you cooperate in the same vein as solving a puzzle together.

User questions & answers

Question: How many points to you get if you get the question right? It only tells you how many points to delete if you get the question wrong
Answer: My wife and I have been using question games and books for over a year. We usually spend 45 minutes a day asking and answering questions. It has brought us closer together and is exciting to find out something new even though we've been married over 50 years. Sometimes the simplest question can lead to major discussions. Also check out books of questions some having over 4000 questions. Some questions are similar but that's OK because people change over time and it keeps you current with who your partner really is.
Question: Are the questions multiple choice
Answer: Yes. Pretty clean
Question: How many players does it take
Answer: This game works for both married and unmarried couples. There are people in a relationship for under a year and know each other well enough to fully play the game. If you take a look at a few example cards that we have in the image section of the listing and feel that you guys can answer a few of them, then the game will probably work well for you guys!
Question: What happens after you answer all the questions throw it away
Answer: Unfortunately not at the moment. We'll announce it if we do release an expansion pack in the near future.

Question: What is the diffeence between this one and black one that Amazon is selling for around
Answer: Monopoly Deal packaging design has changed since it first came out. We had the first one and now the latest one. It's the same game. The one on Amazon for around $11 says it includes a robot token that apparently you can use for the board game. The card game should be the same game. There is also a game called Monopoly Millionaire Deal, but that is a different game.
Question: do you need the board of monopoly for this
Answer: no, it's a card game, and totally independent from the original board game. It's very fast playing (15-30 minutes, approx). It is very different from the traditional game, but still very fun.
Question: This game states that its recommended for ages 8-99. Im 100 yrs old. Is there a particular reason why i should not get it, or ahoild i stick to bingo
Answer: If u were 100, u wouldnt know how to use computers/smartphones. #busted >> He/she has 15 great grandkids who type for him/her

SEQUENCE- Original SEQUENCE Game with Folding Board, Cards and Chips by Jax ( Packaging may Vary )

Jax

Based on 18 reviews Check latest price

Product description

It's fun, it's challenging, it's exciting, it's SEQUENCE! Play a card from your hand, and place a chip on a corresponding space on the game board. When you have five in a row, it's a SEQUENCE. Learn to block your opponents or remove their chips, and watch out for the Jacks - they're wild! With a little strategy and luck, you'll be a winner. For 2-12 players, ages 7 and up.

With touches of canasta, rummy, and poker, this game could easily become a Friday-night favorite. The object is to get a "sequence," meaning a row of five poker-like chips on the game board. The board itself depicts lines of face-up playing cards. Players place their "crowning" chips on top of the card pictures, and can form sequences by using strategy and knowing which Sequence cards to keep or discard. Since forethought, luck, and backup plans are the keys to winning, this game is probably too sophisticated for children under 7 years old. (But young ones can team up with adults.) Included are 104 playing cards and 50 crowning chips in each color: red, blue, and green. --Gail Hudson

  • Exciting gameplay develops STEM skills like strategy
  • For 2-12 players, ages 7 and up

User questions & answers

Question: Can you cross over one sequence using one of the chips in the first one to make the second? Or... can you create a second sequence by adding one on
Answer: No. Lo siento!
Question: What is the size of the board? Do the chips look the same on both sides
Answer: I would not add them to cards against humanity. Some cards could work for the way c.a.h. works, but majority would not.
Question: What size is the board
Answer: I was wondering how inappropriate the innuendos are? About 4 years ago I would of said no way in heck! However my 12 year olds come home and there seems to be NITHING I can say without them saying “that’s what she said.” It doesn’t matter if I get mad or laugh. It’s almost second nature and gets really annoying as I can’t say anything without it being taking dirty. Even though they don’t say it in front of grandparents they all start laughing and I know exactly what’s going on. What’s one of the dirtiest things you have seen in your game play? I have a feeling middle schoolers would kick our butts at this game.
Question: can I purchase more game chips
Answer: Yes, I am 56 and played it with my daughter who is 26 and a neice 25. They did have to explain a few things. I seen this game played on Facebook with my neighbor and her family. It was a fun game but not if you were religious

User questions & answers

Question: Where do I buy the extention for more people to play
Answer: Thanks for asking! We have sold out of the Foodie Expansion but have more on order and they will be for sale exclusively here on Amazon in late December or early January!
Question: I'm 78. can i still play? what about when i turn
Answer: It's definitely for all ages! I love it and I'm 50. My son created it when he was 7 and his grandparents love it and they are in their 80s.
Question: I saw on a youtube video explaining the game of Taco vs Burrito that there is an expansion pack. Where can one buy the expansion pack
Answer: Great Question - The Expansion Pack was for Kickstarter although we may be selling it via Amazon in the coming months. Thanks
Question: Is it made in USA
Answer: Thanks so much for asking! The product is made in China and I'd love to give you a little background that probably is too much information but thought some people might be interested as to how a 7-year-old made manufacturing decisions. There are card game manufactures in the US and most have extremely high minimum order quantities so when Alex (the then 7-year-old inventor) was first starting out with his Kickstarter he couldn't meet their minimum order quantities. We found an amazing company in China (The company's name is Bang Wee - Alex loved the name) who was willing to do smaller quantities and they were super supportive even though they knew he was only 7 years old. Since that initial Kickstarter the game has really taken off and Alex can order the larger quantities that a US manufacturer requires but he would still be a small fish for manufacturers who often work with big toy companies. He also knows that without Bang Wee he might not have ever been able to bring this product to life and they have been so good to him so he's decided to stay with that original manufacturer...although we make a point to review that every year and this year will go back to some US manufacturers to see if we can find a good fit. Also, finding manufacturers who work well with kids will be key (Alex is 9 now) as many people are not used to working with kids in manufacturing and thus Bang Wee has really shined in that regard. Also with the potential tariffs going in effect this month, Alex is learning a ton of about international trade which is such a great experience for him too. I mean how better to understand how tariffs work than to pay them yourself. We will update this Q&A if we do switch to a US Manufacturer.

Based on 7 reviews Check latest price

Product description

Mancala is one of the world's oldest and best-loved games, and Pressman's folding wooden Mancala board offers an affordable way to play that makes a great travel game as well as a wonderful home edition. Players take turns scooping up the special stones and counting them out one at a time into the pockets on the board. When they drop a stone into an empty pocket on their side of the board, they capture all the stones in the opposite pocket. It sounds like a simple marble game, but it's got plenty of strategy and reinforces STEM skills like counting and strategic planning. The winner is the player who collects the most stones! This folding Mancala includes a hinged wooden playing board, 48 plastic stones, and complete instructions.

From the Manufacturer

Mancala is thousands of years old, tracing its lineage to ancient Egypt. Legend has it that workers played the game during rest periods while building the pyramids. But the game is great for modern times as well--it has gained new popularity as one of the world's most intriguing and clever two-player games. To start, place all the stones in the pockets of the board. When it's your turn, choose a pocket and scoop up all the stones in it, then drop them back into the pockets one-by-one as you circle the board. Mancala - wooden folding set by Pressman

Mancala is one of the world's oldest and best-loved games. The player who collects the most stones wins.

Easy set up and storage

The folding wooden board easily stores all pieces, making this a great choice for travel or home.

To play, simply open the Mancala board and place it between both players. The 6 pockets in front of you make up your playing area. The large pocket to your right, called the Mancala, is yours. Place 4 stones (colors do not matter) in each of the 12 smaller pockets.

Builds STEM skills like counting and strategy

Begin the game by removing the stones in one of your own pockets. Starting with the next pocket to the right, place one of these stones in each pocket, including your Mancala, until all the stones are placed (do not put any in your opponent's Mancala). If your last stone ends up in your Mancala, you get to take another turn.

In illustration 1, Player A has emptied his #3 pocket, and the last stone ended up in his Mancala, allowing him to take another turn.

A fun way to develop logical reasoning skills

If the last stone you place lands in an empty pocket on your side of the board, you get to take that stone, plus all of your opponent’s stones that are in the opposite pocket, and place them in your own Mancala.

As shown in illustration 2, Player B has moved the one stone from his pocket #2 into empty pocket #3. He would now take that stone and the stones that are in A4 and place all those stones in his Mancala to complete his turn.

Winning the Game

The game ends when all six pockets on one side of the game board are empty. The other player takes the remaining stones in his pockets and places them in his Mancala. The player who has the most stones in his Mancala wins.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this a board game or a card game? how does it compare with the chronology card games from buffalo (out of print), and another from fundex
Answer: So far the span of history cards have ranged from like 38ad to present. Have not completed all of the cards yet though.
Question: What is the time span of history in chronology
Answer: None of the cards are inappropriate. This is a good family game, however a knowledge of history would be helpful when playing. Younger kids could get frustrated simply because they have not yet had the education.
Question: Are the cards at all inappropriate for elementary aged children
Answer: The game was made in 1996, and I would guess the most recent event to be as recent as 1994, but it may not be as recent as the 90s
Question: When was this made and what year is the most recent event in this game
Answer: I don't know about cartoon world puzzle pieces, but this puzzle did come with a poster. It was a fun puzzle to do.
