As for the weight limit of the child WEARING the doll carrier, we have one and my daughter began using at at her 3rd birthday and still wears her dolls in this carrier and has just turned 6. If waist measurement is an issue, I would say that it is pretty expandable and that given its straps and buckles a pretty hefty child could still wear this to carry their doll. The Ergo Baby carriers for baby that a mom would wear usually cost $100 or more. Hope this helps!
