Answer:	For incandescent bulbs (if you can still find them) the general rule is 100 watts max for a socket like this. You could use much larger CFL or LED equivalent wattage bulbs. BTW: if your installing this in a small lamp with a plastic or paper shade I'd stick to 60 watts incandescent. The max bulb size is usually posted on the fixture.
