Answer:	2 AG13 batteries, but the batteries are not replaceable in this toy.

Answer:	The clear part with beads is hard plastic. The black/white part is hard (white) and more rubbery (black). Same for the blue (rubbery) and green (hard) part. The ball is not rubbery but it seems to have a little "give" to it. The loose rings are hard plastic.
