Answer:	Sorry, it took me so long. This toy is what you make of it. It is very open to creativity and can be as simple or complex as you want it to be. It comes with a brochure on what the fashion design process is. It can be as simple an straight pinning fabric to the manikan, or you can sketch idea, pull fabric samples and then sew the dress together. Just a warning, there are small sharp parts.

It comes with a lot of pins and basically, she was pinning everything in place and then taking it apart after showing it to her mom or me or some other adult. I assume that she will eventually get to the sewing part of it, but she was having a lot of fun without sewing at all.

Question:	can an 8 year old use it
Answer:	The holes are not very large, even for the needles (which are plastic, by the way), so I took a small screwdriver and poked them bigger. I imagine if you did that, lace ends would work.

Answer:	There are plenty of material to use with this set. I suppose you could use other laces but I don’t know why you would want or need to replace the original materials.

Answer:	It really is designed to hand sew. It has holes punched in the felt material designed for floss to sew. I’m sure you could machine sew but it wouldn’t give the same look.

Answer:	A size 24 tapestry needle, the type used for cross stitch would work well. It does not have a sharp point so it is child safe but it is meal so it is sturdy enough to pierce through felt.

Answer:	I purchased this kit for my 10 year old granddaughter. The kit had easy to read instructions and she has learned basic stitches. The projects are: pouch, stuffed animals, book cover. My granddaughter loves it.

Answer:	I admire your son that he wants to sew and that you are supportive of that. I am a sewer myself and I found that just going to a craft store and buying sewing equipment (needles, thread, scissors, buttons, felt, rick rack, etc.) is a little better quality than what is in this kit. But, the projects are good. There are some books with beginner projects though that can tell you what materials he would need with directions on completing the projects. With my granddaughter, I ended up just showing her how to make the stitches and she designed a blanket (making a hem) and pillow for her dolls. I also taught her to sew on a button, which she used to decorate the pillow. The kit has patterns for making animals, which we didn't get to because we live far apart and ran out of time. Good luck!

Answer:	The outside of each finished rectangular purse measures approximately 4 inches high and 4-1/2 inches wide--right-sized for some coins and a few bills--or a lipstick and a few keys. There were only three kits (not six) in the box I received (all rectangular-shaped), but I was OK with that because I was working with only one child.
Question:	I don't see how the finished product is a purse??? It looks like one side is closed, and you are supposed to sew the remaining 3 sides closed as well

Answer:	Yes!! I bought this for my four year old and my six year old. You can see together. The kit makes it easy to follow.

Answer:	No straps are provided. You could probably attach one, but keep in mind that the purse is very small and narrow, so there is not much storage space.
