Answer:	you need a fuel oxygen kit ie, oxy acetylene to do that, and they cost A LOT more money than this, plus the rental of the cylinders. melting metal isnt really a good description as it depends on what type of metal, the dimensions of it and a bunch of other factors. you will be able to soften metal to bend it to shape, you can braze or solder and you can free off rusted bolts with this, anything else requires real heat. i have one of these http://www.amazon.com/Professional-Portable-Acetylene-Welding-Victor-Style/dp/B00K326MG6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1407378726&sr=8-3&keywords=oxyacetylene+kit in the van, the cylinders come empty you have to exchange them at a welding supply store and pay a fee. this will cut, melt, heat, bend, braze, solder pretty much anything on cars, trucks and farm equipment. the tanks do tend to empty pretty quickly, so buy a second pair at the welding store as they always run out at the worst time.

Answer:	depends on what you are burning, I melt gold on maybe a quarter tank for say ten minutes, so basicly you have to know your metal and how to work it. other metals take less time because the intense heat is not required as gold melts at 1100 to 1200c.

Answer:	There are two primary differences in the torches; the first is that the TS8000 generates a much higher temp than the TS4000. If you're just doing soldering for plumbing, or extremely light brazing on very thin materials, the TS4000 is probably adequate. If you also need higher temps for the occasional light brazing of something like a lawnmower/snowblower part, then definitely go with the TS8000 with MAPP gas. If you want to do any cutting or heavier brazing, you'll need a different unit that injects oxygen from a tank.The second difference is the TS4000 is either on, or off with no control on the amount of heat, where the TS8000 does have a valve to control the burn level.I own both the TS4000 and the TS8000 and would always recommend the TS8000 for the extra few dollars. While the TS4000 works quite well, it's level of control & functionality are definitely limiting.

Question:	How do you turn off the flame on this torch? Does the ignition button control the flow- or do you have to use the dial to turn off the flame
Answer:	Bernzomatic does not sell replacement parts. On the housing covering the clicker, find a small Phillips head screw. Remove it (and keep track of it-it's really small and you need it). Slide the housing toward the head of the torch about 2". You will then be able to remove the clicker unit. There will be a small wire sticking out of the side of the clicker about 1/2" long. With fine sandpaper or a fine file, buff all the gunk and snot off the end of that wire until you see metal. Reassemble, making sure that little wire passes through the hole in the tube, and re-tighten that little screw. If it still doesn't work, do it all again. As long as they still click, they will still spark-you just have to give them a little CPR.

Answer:	The only additional item you need is a small propane tank. The Bernzomatic contains the necessary connectors, trigger switch for lighting, and control knob.

Answer:	Personally, I buy my propane tanks from Wal-Mart...propane tank is about 10" long by about 5" in diameter. They have a threaded top made to screw into the Bernzomatic handle. Cost of tank, roughly $2-3. The tank last several hours at 60% open and somewhat less at wide-open. No couplers are required...just be careful NOT to cross-thread when screwing the tank onto the handle. I have replaced many tanks with no problems.

Answer:	I use it for silversmithing and I love it. Use it on my map gas and I have gotten way less fire scale. The flame is still rather large but adjusting the gas allows for control of the flame a bit more than others.

Answer:	The blue part of the torch is neither aluminum or plastic. It is a bake-lite material. It will neither burn or melt without extreme heat. It is a great torch and I would recommend it.

Answer:	I have no idea of a frame of reference with which to rate this item in order to properly answer your question. It burned the weeds out of my garden but it took a little time. It's pretty hot but it's not a flame thrower. Some plants burned out faster than others, likely due to size and moisture content. If you can be more specific I maybe can better answer your question.

Answer:	You bet! Hot Max Model 24200 is a 10 foot extension hose and Hot Max Model 24201 is the 25 foot extension hose. If you want a straight replacement hose, that is Hot Max Model 24212 which is also 10 feet long.

Answer:	No. From experience. No. Source: I live in the NorthEast US. In 2015 we had many feet of snow, so I brought this thing out, thinking it'd make quick work of some of the worst of it. To my amazement it was almost useless on the snow. I even tried digging out a little snow cave and roasting the inside (thinking to take advantage of heat's rising), but even this was marginally successful. I melted a little snow, but far far slower than it would have taken to dig it out. With a spoon. Seriously, I tried for 30 minutes before putting it aside and returning to my shovel. Its great on weeds - not much on snow or ice. FYI: this has nothing to do with this specific unit; I can't imagine any of these 500k BTU units being notably different with snow.

Answer:	Yes you can ,but always use protective flame proof mat and have fire extinguisher handy.

Answer:	Brand doesn’t really matter but I have found using a butane that is at least triple refined makes a difference. I use either 5 or 7x refined.
Question:	can this cut threw 1/4 in steel , excuse my lack of knowledge
Answer:	No, but I did use it to do some soldering on wires used to prepare my car and trailer for electrical connections. It worked well in VERY confined places because the flame can be finely adjusted. This will be my go-to technique for soldering these kinds of connections in the future because it's much quicker than a traditional soldering gun. Other features, such as the constant on control and the igniter make this a very practical tool. I wish I'd learned about this decades ago!

Answer:	Hello there! the average temperature is 1300°c/2450°F, the time it runs depends on the intensity of the flame you use (you can alterate the potency), since its rechargeable you can use the butane torch several continous times but it last until the container runs out of butane gas. It also has 2 year guarrantee so you dont need to worry.

Answer:	Nope... unless you're cutting lead or some other really low melting point metal. You'll need oxy-acetylene to cut steel and such.
