Question:	Will a solder create holes in thin plastics without cracking
Answer:	I assume you mean a soldering iron tip which can will get very hot and can melt plastic. If you are very careful you could make a hole, but you may have to trim rough edges of burnt plastic with a sharp tool or file. The hole could weaken the plastic and maybe cause a crack depending on the stress around the hole. Be careful.

Answer:	It’s a decent iron... adjustable heat, gets to target heat quickly... only issue is that cord is a bit stiff and can be cumbersome

Question:	Can this soldering iron melt silver wire
Answer:	Not sure what you mean by silver wire. Silver (pure) has a melting point of 1,763°F (around 960°C) so no this soldering iron will not liquefy the silver wire, if your silver wire is a brazing blend of Copper, phosphorus and silver, then this soldering iron will liquefy the base metals just barely, but the silver will stay in what is called solidus form. You may have a 63/37 silver soldering wire, 63% tin, 37% phosphorus/silver alloy, in which case this soldering iron will work just fine... Note: you should never braze or solder with straight Ag (silver) the connection will fail sooner than later, try a 60/40 alloy for electronics and a 15 silver alloy for plumbing... Answer:	i never checked but it does come with an assortment of tips and it works great...

Answer:	The soldering iron comes with different tips - some wide enough to work ok for 14 gauge - but the iron really seems to work best for micro circuits.
Question:	does the ceramic heater at maximum temp maintain the heat output for long periods? looks like this might be a very affordable iron for stained glass
Answer:	As some one who bought this iron the temp can be a bit inconsistent especially while using. You can set it sure but its not accurate and i find myself putting the temp up and down trying to control it. If your are consistently using it than the temp will be low but if it just sits there it gets a bit to hot. As far as stained glass it would seem to me that you would want something a bit bigger as this model is more for electronic and small delicate work. On that note i do not do stained glass so that is just my opinion.
