User questions & answers

Question: Change out time is 30 days or 40 hours of use, and i opened my filters about 30 days ago but i have barley used them for an hour. do i need to change
Answer: I change them as needed. I use mine infrequently as well, so change filters when I start feeling they are not effective anymore. Mine have lasted much longer than 30 days/40 hours.
Question: How can i order another set of these for my husband's mask who is working directly with c-19 patients daily? he is wearing his own ppe
Answer: If you can't get them here, try going directly to 3M. These things are twice as effective as ANY N95 mask. Good luck.
Question: Will this filter out the hydrogen carboxylic acid, common name: formic acid, that is used in mite-away quick strips for bee hive mite treatment
Answer: Thanks for your question. In the 3M Respirator Selection Guide (www.3M.com/respiratorselector) we suggest that either an acid gas cartridge (6002/60922) or a formaldehyde cartridge (6005/60925) may work better (longer service life) than the organic vapor cartridge (6001/60921) for filtering formic acid. Thanks!
Question: Can these filters be washed in water without degrading their capability
Answer: Absolutely not. The filters' main use is for filtering out organic compounds. This is achieved my means of activated carbon. The activated carbon will not work if made wet. For reference, I am able to use them pretty heavily for painting for about three months.

User questions & answers

Question: Which filters do I need to buy for this mask
Answer: From the 3M Cartridge Filter Guide and Brochure: "Why are the filters and cartridges 'pink'? When a filter or cartridge has the magenta color code it has the P100 designation. This color provides uniformity and easy identification."
Question: I need to crawl around in a dark environment with this and can't hold a flashlight while I'm doing it. Suggestions on a headlamp that will work
Answer: Short Answer: 3M N100 Mask filters out 99.97% of particles larger than 0.3-Microns (PM2.5 means 2.5-microns or larger). A 3M N100 Mask works well against cigarette smoke and smog covered cities. Longer Answer: Your concern is with PM2.5. See explanation below: The most harmful pollutant to human health is called PM 2.5, particle matter smaller than 2.5 microns in diameter that's found in soot, smoke, and dust. PM 2.5 is especially dangerous because it can get lodged in the lungs and cause long-term health problems like asthma and chronic lung disease. PM 2.5 starts to become a major health problem when there is more than 35.5 micrograms (µg) of PM 2.5 per cubic meter of air, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. But the World Health Organizations recommends keeping yearly average PM 2.5 levels three times lower than that. The most polluted cities on Earth have anywhere between 11 and 20 times that amount - based on the new WHO data from cities that collect it. Question: What full face respirator works best with glasses
Answer: Yes and no. The filter contains 2 elements...the chemical filter cartridge, and the P100 particle filter material. For the chemical cartridge, it will eventually lose it's ability to filter hazardous chemicals...after 3 years from the manufacture date, after maybe a few weeks upon breaking the package seal ( depending on storage environment), after 8 hours of exposure to chemicals ( depending on chemical type and concentration). Bottom line is it cannot be "reused" to filter hazardous chemicals after it ceases doing so effectively. The particle filter actually increases in effectiveness as it becomes loaded with particles. The point at which the particle filter must be replaced is when it becomes difficult to breath through, or when it is contaminated with a hazardous substance and cannot be decontaminated. If using to filter pathogens, the particle filter can be disinfected with hydrogen peroxide (3%-7% H2O2 1 min or more contact time) and used until breathing becomes difficult. Spray with H2O2 until wet and keep wet for at least 1 minute, and allow to dry fully before using again. Just note, it will no longer filter hazardous chemicals and can be used to filter particles only, and should be marked as such. If the contaminant is a hazardous substance like asbestos, lead or a chemical, discard the filter using appropriate HAZMAT protocols after 1 use.
Question: Does this mask protect you from airborne viruses such as Ebola
Answer: No, this will not protect you against a zombie apocalypse as zombies are not created through airborne particles. You need a different kind of protection that would protect you from bites, scrapes, etc... it might help if you smashed a zombie in the head with the filter but there are many other tools to help you in those situations. I HIGHLY recommend this kit from Gerber for better protection: http://www.gerbergear.com/Apocalypse/Gear/Apocalypse-Kit_30-000601Good luck, and remember... don't stare at the flowers. ;)

User questions & answers

Question: How many filters come with this purchase
Answer: Please contact 3M directly. https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/worker-health-safety-us/
Question: can I use the mask without a repirator
Answer: Contact the seller directly
Question: Are these n95 masks made in the us or china
Answer: 2 sets of P100 filters come with the mask they work fine
Question: Is the product quality good
Answer: This is a great choice for any protection. The filter cartridges come in many types, do research and buy exactly the one you need. For mold and dust the P100 that comes with this mask is more than adequate . I would not go below P95 with possible mold. Remember the face mask needs to seal on face, a close shave is a must. No face mask woks over a beard.

User questions & answers

Question: What's the difference between the 6500QL series & the 7500 series?? It can't only be the "quick release" because the 7500 can be made to do that. Thx
Answer: It depends on what you're doing - I got this filter because it seems to be pretty all-encompassing: http://www.amazon.com/3M-Low-Maintenance-Cartridge-Purifying-Respirator/dp/B00AEFCP0E/ref=sr_1_1?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1392297594&sr=1-1&keywords=6006+filterIt's been effecticve for fiberglass insulation, sanding plastics and composites, spray painting, etc.
Question: Does this mask include a set of filters
Answer: The 3AAA eLED® Vizion™ Headlamp from Underwater Kinetics works awesome...no pivot point to wear out and break, had mine for 4 years now...still going strong. The led light module is even removable...to use like a camping light.
Question: Does anyone have experience with/ know what filter(s) I should buy to go with this mask for sanding wood and old paint and spraypainting
Answer: This seals fairly well around my glasses. They are very large and still have no trouble fitting into the mask. The mask seals fairly well over the stems, but I do have wire frame glasses so the frames atr only 0.04 in (1mm) thick. Also I wear the "3M Peltor Over the Head Earmuff" which pushes the frame against my skin.
Question: I want vacuum packaging
Answer: from what Ive seen from 3ms website, it looks like particulate filters are used for biological with the minimum being something like the 3M 2091 P100 Particulate Filter. Some of the cartridge filters appear to also have a particulate ability and p100 rating, but Im still figuring this all out.In regards to ebola and respiratory protection follow the link below, or if you dont like clicking on links, then just google "Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for Ebola virus disease (EVD)" You will see the link to 3m's pdf filehttp://multimedia.3m.com/mws/mediawebserver?66666UgxGCuNyVs658T_OxM6EVtQEcuZgVs6EVs6E666666--
