User questions & answers

Question: Will 3m p100 cartridge filters fit
Answer: I would buy the 2091 P100 filter. Item in stock we ship same day with free shipping. No Sales Tax outside of Nevada. Best regards C2CSAFETY INC
Question: Does it work For wood workers . Dust particles
Answer: The respirator consists of two pieces - the mask itself and the bands that hold it in place on your head - plus the replaceable filters of course (ordered separately). You don't need to take apart the 2 pieces for cleaning, just take off the filters. I don't think it would be worthwhile to replace either piece of the respirator separately.
Question: Does 3M filter fit? Note, merely indicating "filters are easily changed" does not answer my question
Answer: The most common filter for dust is the HEPA filter, it is the P100. The chemical cartridges are specific to exposure. 3m has a page on their website titled "3m PPE Safety Solutions", this page will direct you to a matrix for specific exposure/cartridge matching. "Warning" before entry into an OSHA/NIOSH PEL or IDLH atmosphere, a fit test is suggested and I would say mandatory for personal safety. Certain atmospheres of use would mandate a full face piece or gas-proof goggles.
Question: Can you use 3M p100 filters on this mask
Answer: No filters are included. Filters must be purchased separately. Use the chart to select the appropriate filter for your use.

User questions & answers

Question: Which filters do I need to buy for this mask
Answer: From the 3M Cartridge Filter Guide and Brochure: "Why are the filters and cartridges 'pink'? When a filter or cartridge has the magenta color code it has the P100 designation. This color provides uniformity and easy identification."
Question: I need to crawl around in a dark environment with this and can't hold a flashlight while I'm doing it. Suggestions on a headlamp that will work
Answer: Short Answer: 3M N100 Mask filters out 99.97% of particles larger than 0.3-Microns (PM2.5 means 2.5-microns or larger). A 3M N100 Mask works well against cigarette smoke and smog covered cities. Longer Answer: Your concern is with PM2.5. See explanation below: The most harmful pollutant to human health is called PM 2.5, particle matter smaller than 2.5 microns in diameter that's found in soot, smoke, and dust. PM 2.5 is especially dangerous because it can get lodged in the lungs and cause long-term health problems like asthma and chronic lung disease. PM 2.5 starts to become a major health problem when there is more than 35.5 micrograms (µg) of PM 2.5 per cubic meter of air, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. But the World Health Organizations recommends keeping yearly average PM 2.5 levels three times lower than that. The most polluted cities on Earth have anywhere between 11 and 20 times that amount - based on the new WHO data from cities that collect it. Question: What full face respirator works best with glasses
Answer: Yes and no. The filter contains 2 elements...the chemical filter cartridge, and the P100 particle filter material. For the chemical cartridge, it will eventually lose it's ability to filter hazardous chemicals...after 3 years from the manufacture date, after maybe a few weeks upon breaking the package seal ( depending on storage environment), after 8 hours of exposure to chemicals ( depending on chemical type and concentration). Bottom line is it cannot be "reused" to filter hazardous chemicals after it ceases doing so effectively. The particle filter actually increases in effectiveness as it becomes loaded with particles. The point at which the particle filter must be replaced is when it becomes difficult to breath through, or when it is contaminated with a hazardous substance and cannot be decontaminated. If using to filter pathogens, the particle filter can be disinfected with hydrogen peroxide (3%-7% H2O2 1 min or more contact time) and used until breathing becomes difficult. Spray with H2O2 until wet and keep wet for at least 1 minute, and allow to dry fully before using again. Just note, it will no longer filter hazardous chemicals and can be used to filter particles only, and should be marked as such. If the contaminant is a hazardous substance like asbestos, lead or a chemical, discard the filter using appropriate HAZMAT protocols after 1 use.
Question: Does this mask protect you from airborne viruses such as Ebola
Answer: No, this will not protect you against a zombie apocalypse as zombies are not created through airborne particles. You need a different kind of protection that would protect you from bites, scrapes, etc... it might help if you smashed a zombie in the head with the filter but there are many other tools to help you in those situations. I HIGHLY recommend this kit from Gerber for better protection: http://www.gerbergear.com/Apocalypse/Gear/Apocalypse-Kit_30-000601Good luck, and remember... don't stare at the flowers. ;)

Product features

Step 1

Fully loosen all four head straps. Pull hair back with one hand. Bring facepiece up to face with other hand.

Step 2

While holding the facepiece in place, pull the straps over your head.

Step 3

Tighten the two bottom straps and then tighten the two top straps.

Step 4

Make sure the back of the harness is centered on the back of the head.

Positive Pressure User Seal Check

Place the palm of your hand over the opening in the exhalation valve cover and exhale gently. If facepiece bulges slightly and no air leaks are detected between the face and the facepiece, a proper seal has been obtained. If faceseal air leakage is detected, reposition the respirator on your face and/or readjust the tension of the straps to eliminate leakage and recheck seal. If you cannot achieve a proper seal, DO NOT enter the contaminated area. See your supervisor.

Negative Pressure User Seal Check Using Particulate Filters

Place your thumbs onto the center portion of the filters, restricting airflow through filters and inhale gently. If you feel facepiece collapse slightly and pull closer to your face with no leaks between the face and the facepiece, a proper seal has been obtained. If faceseal air leakage is detected, reposition the respirator on your face and/or readjust the tension of the straps to eliminate leakage and recheck seal. If you cannot achieve a proper seal, DO NOT enter the contaminated area. See your supervisor.

Negative Pressure User Seal Check Using Cartridges

Place palms of hands to cover face of cartridge or open area of 3M Filter Retainer 501 and inhale gently. If you feel facepiece collapse slightly and pull closer to your face with no leaks between the face and facepiece, a proper seal has been obtained. If faceseal air leakage is detected, reposition the respirator on your face and/or readjust the tension of the straps to eliminate leakage and recheck seal. If you cannot achieve a proper seal, DO NOT enter the contaminated area. See your supervisor.

Available in three sizes, all masks have the 3M Bayonet Connection System enabling connection to a broad range of twin lightweight filters to protect against gases, vapors and particulates depending on your individual needs.

User questions & answers

Question: Can the 3m 6800 be used with a papr air blower system? and if so what 3m papr system would be compatible
Answer: There is a special insert. B01HMF6JV4
Question: How does it do with glasses
Answer: I don’t believe so with regular glasses as the mask itself would more than likely leak as the temples of the glasses are not usually flush to ones face, and the mouth/nose cup of the mask ( looks like a fighter jet air mask somewhat) would not accommodate the glasses bridge on your nose. There may be an adapter kit that fits on the inside of the lens that would hold special eyeglasses that would get your specific prescription lenses.
Question: will it work with people with eyeglasses
Answer: In my opinion this would be heavy for all day use. With the correct filters it would provide good protection but there are smaller lighter masks that would offer similar protection. It is a good comfortable mask for short periods of time.
Question: Is this good to use as a healthcare worker for protection against covid
Answer: The dark brown is not reddish a bit ashy but very true to color for a dark brown.

User questions & answers

Question: How do you select a correct size
Answer: All I know is I have this mask and the stars slide on and off very smooth holds tight it dose not fog up top of the line quality when I put it on I feel safe and comfortable just get it already
Question: Difference between this and 3M 6900 mask
Answer: The face respirator I bought was less expensive than this one. I had to buy plastic filters that attached to the bottom of the face mask. Amazon is just not clear about this issue. When I got my mask and read the lengthy description and directions, it was then I realized I had to order something else to complete the mask filtration system. It is aggravating to me that this question has come up with just about every mask they sell. I have not complained to them, but I think I will. I do not mind answering customer questions, but after the same question from so many folks, it is clear that Amazon is not on top of it. I think, if you order it, you will have a clearer idea of what it needs. I am sorry I cannot be more definite.
Question: for this mask, do you need the filters in the plastic casings or just the round filter 'only' style--or are those inside the plastic case ones
Answer: 3M makes a prescription spectical frame that fits over the nose piece. Your Rx can be made to fit into this frame. You cannot wear regular glasses without breaking the face seal gasket.
Question: How comfortable is this mask with glasses? Does the seal leak if using them
Answer: Yes it can but it has to be specific to the brand.

Product features

Step 1

Fully loosen all six head straps. Hold the front of the facepiece with one hand and the straps/comfort cradle away from the facepiece with the other hand, creating an opening for the head. Pull the respirator assembly down over the head. Place the nose in the nose cup and chin in the chin cup area then press the facepiece firmly and evenly against the face.

Step 2

While holding the facepiece in place, pull the straps over your head.

Step 3

Tighten the two bottom straps.

Step 4

Tighten the two middle straps, then the two top straps. Make sure the back of the harness is centered on the back of the head.

Repeat steps 3 and 4 twice - once to position and second to secure the facepiece seal.

Positive Pressure User Seal Check

Remove the exhalation valve cover. Place the palm of your hand over the exhalation valve and exhale gently. If the facepiece bulges slightly and no air leaks are detected between the face and the facepiece, a proper seal check has been obtained. If faceseal air leakage is detected, reposition the respirator on your face and/or readjust the tension of the straps to eliminate leakage and recheck seal. Replace exhalation valve cover. If you cannot achieve a proper seal, do not enter the contaminated area. See your supervisor.

Negative Pressure User Seal Check Using Cartridges

Place the palms of your hands over the cartridges and inhale gently. The facepiece should collapse lightly. If air leaks between the face and the faceseal of the respirator, reposition it and adjust the straps for a tighter seal. If you cannot achieve a proper seal, do not enter the contaminated area. See your supervisor.

Using Hard Case Particulate Filters

Squeeze filter covers with hands toward facepiece to restrict airflow. Be careful not to disturb the position of the respirator. Inhale gently. The facepiece should collapse slightly. If air leaks between the face and the faceseal of the respirator, reposition it and adjust the straps for a tighter seal. If you cannot achieve a proper seal, do not enter the contaminated area. See your supervisor.

User questions & answers

Question: What do you use to store or carry this when traveling? It came in a ziploc bag with no protective padding
Answer: This mask will seal almost perfectly. Here are the two major issues: 1. Are you using the correct filter. If it is something you "smell" the 2091 filter only removes particulate. You need an element that will remove organic vapors. The 2097 element will take out some of it, but it is not an OVAG filter. 2. Are you clean shaven, and is the mask adjusted properly? I have used these for many years, in industry and now for the CCP virus, they are virtually 100% effective if used properly.
Question: So ive noticed i can still smell what i am working with faintly. is this the opening at the bottom of mask? new filters too. anyone else get this
Answer: This one is made with silicone that seals against your face which is more comfortable and durable. If you plan on wearing it often or for long periods of time get this one.
Question: What is the difference between this mask and the 3m(tm) half facepiece respirator assembly
Answer: A set of the 3M P100 filters work great. I use the 2091 model for woodworking. The P is for particulate and the 100 means it filters 100%. For anything with fumes like finishes I use a paint set of filters like the 3M 6001
Question: Even after reading the q&a i'm still confused as to which filter i need. i just need dust particle filtration for woodworking. shape/model
Answer: If you have ever worn a half piece respirator then you'll know your size, but if not then I would suggest getting a disposable respirator for test fitment purposes before dishing out the money for this full face respirator.

User questions & answers

Question: When the shield gets scratched, can I replace it
Answer: Yes! I purchased this mask for work. I'm a school teacher. The mask is deceptively light and every breathe circulates filtered air around your eyes and feel cool and invigorating. My experience with this mask has been very comfortable compared to the conventional mask and safety glasses.
Question: Can I wear it for 3 hours in a row
Answer: The face shield is meant to protect your eyes from liquid chemicals/fumes and contagions. Buy a cheap ballistic face shield attach it over the full face mask?
Question: Can the mask withstand any hard hits or projectiles or objects, like bean bag ,rubber balls metal balls rock
Answer: Yes, the 3M respirator come in different sizes (small, medium, and large). The 3M company distinguishes the various sizes by the last 3 digits in the model number. The model 6900 is the large size. The model 6800 is medium, and model 6700 is the small. If you are and adult women, you probably should get a small size, but you might be able to wear a medium, depending on the shape and size of your face. Know that the half face and full face models (I think) use a different sequence of numbers to indicate size. For example, (not sure of the exact numbers) 6100 might indicate a small size, 6200 might be a medium, and 6300 might be a large. These masks, I think, are all called the 6000 series. Some sizes seem to be much more popular than others, (for example, small might be easier to get than large, since most men wear the large size). To test for proper fit, the mask needs to be airtight. You can only test it when you receive and try on the mask. You do this by putting on the mask with the filters completely off of the mask. Put the palm of each hand over each filter port, so that it forms an airtight seal. Then breathe in to make sure that the mask fits well enough so that the mask is sucked up more tightly against your face, and is able to hold that for a short time while you are holding your breath. It may take a little practice to get the hang of it. A leaky mask will not provide proper protection, and will not seal well if fitted so that hair gets between the rubber seal and your skin. I think that the 6000 series masks are made from a regular, lower cost rubber. I think that the 7000 series are made from silicone rubber, which probably will provide a longer operating life, and may (not sure) seal better against the skin. Silicone rubber is significantly more expensive. Silicone rubber may be less irritating to sensitive skin A half face mask is much cheaper than a full face mask, but contaminants, including viruses etc can touch the eyes and perhaps cause problems. I don't know which design is more comfortable. Some people say the half face design is more comfortable, and others say the full face design is more comfortable. The full face design might be vulnerable to the face shield fogging up, but you can probably buy from amazon an antifogging solution. Also, the full face plastic shield may need a transparent plastic anti scratch film (amazon also) to protect from scratches. etc You probably need to buy filters also. Each mask requires 2 filters. A p100 filter is more protective than a p95 filter. 'N' filters are also available. I think that the 'p' filters are rated for use if the air has oily contaminants (pesticide sprays) and may also just have a longer lifespan under average conditions (I think 40 hours for 'p' filters). I think the 'n' filters have much shorter lifespans (maybe 8 hours), but I am not sure. I think 2 types of filters are available cartridge filters, which are sort of rectangular, an are used inside a plastic retainer: and circular pancake filters. The cartridge filters are available with multiple protections intrinsic to each filter ('particulate' and 'organic vapor', combined into 1 filter cartridge). the combinations are distinguished by a specific color,(for easy identification) and also by a number. I think the 'pancake filters are only available for particulate filtration, but I am not sure. When it becomes hard to breathe through a filter, or otherwise is different than a new filter, it should be replaced with a new set of filters. Probably if the filters are known to be contaminated with infectious material (virus), they should probably be replaced also, and handled as though they were infectious (don't touch with ungloved fingers or touch your face etc). The filters are used with plastic retainers. I don't think 3M filters work with North masks. Chinese masks may work with 3M filters. Call a specialized safety equipment store for info. i am not an expert.
Question: How can I know if this will fit me? Are there different sizes
Answer: You may use that ziploc bag or another tote bag for your respirator. Thank you.

Question: When the shield gets scratched, can I replace it
Answer: A P95 rated particle filter is recommended for wood dust. Using the 3M 6503QL Half Facepiece Respirator, the 3M 2071 P95 Filter is a suggested option to consider.
Question: Can I wear it for 3 hours in a row
Answer: No. There are many types of filters this mask can use. Pick the filter or cartridge that protects you from your particular hazard(s). I use pink pillow 3M 2097 for welding and shop grinding.
Question: Can the mask withstand any hard hits or projectiles or objects, like bean bag ,rubber balls metal balls rock
Answer: No filter. But it will accept most of the 3M ¼-turn lock filters. That way you can choose your application.
Question: How can I know if this will fit me? Are there different sizes
Answer: The only thing I can say is that they run small. I am "average" size (5-7, 165), so I ordered a medium. It was a bit too small, so I'm returning for a large.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this mask with what filter, protect from carbon monoxide
Answer: which 3m respirator( 6100/0702 AAD ) replacement filters can be used
Question: come with filters
Answer: Filters are typically for dust, powder, sand...particulate matter while Vapor cartridges would be able to protect you from organic vapors like paint fumes, cleaning chemicals, evaporating gasoline. If you are doing home projects I would get the 3M 60923 or the 60926, both of these cartridges have a built in P100 particulate filter. Vapor cartridges will not protect you from smoke or carbon monoxide, I would also advise that you stay away from ammonia to.
Question: Looking for a mask for home rennovations. What is the difference between filters and vapor cartriges? Do i need both? If so can you buy the whole set
Answer: Yes for protection against asbestos according to the manufactures product guidelines.
Question: Does this work against asbestos
Answer: Yes, Part # 3M 6885. Hope this helps! National Wholesalers

Product features

Step 1

Place the respirator over your nose and mouth with bottom straps unfastened.

Step 2

Pull the top strap over your head, placing the head cradle on the crown of your head.

Step 3

Hook the bottom straps together behind your neck.

Step 4

Adjust strap tension to achieve a secure fit. Pull the ends of the straps to adjust the tightness beginning with the adjustment points at the top of the respirator and then moving to the adjustment points at the back of the neck. Do not over-tighten. Strap tension may be decreased by pushing out on back side of buckles.

Using Particulate Filters

Place your thumbs over the center of the filters and inhale gently. The facepiece should collapse slightly. If air leaks between the face and the faceseal of the respirator, reposition it and adjust the straps for a more secure seal.

Using Cartridges

Place the palms of your hands over the cartridges and inhale gently. The facepiece should collapse slightly. If air leaks between the face and the faceseal of the respirator, reposition it and adjust the straps for a more secure seal.

Using Hard Case Particulate Filters

Squeeze filter covers with hands toward facepiece to restrict airflow. Be careful not to disturb the position of the respirator. Inhale gently. The facepiece should collapse slightly. If air leaks between the face and the faceseal, reposition it and adjust the straps for a tighter seal.

User questions & answers

Question: If purchased I get a respirator and a particulate filter
Answer: Yes
Question: Would this be an appropriate mask for woodworking, specifically when sanding (or cutting MDF) and lots of ultra fine particles are in the air
Answer: Yes, just be sure to get the right filter. 3M makes lots of them, and you can get the right tables from them. I use the cartridge P100 for metal dusts.
Question: what is the NIOSH rating? N
Answer: Dust Mask and Filter Cartridge Ratings Respiratory Filters come in a variety of ratings that relate to how the respirator performs (how much it filters) and what environment type it is designed to be used in. When choosing a respirator it's important to understand that as the letter rating and number rating increase, breathing fatigue will increase. While you certainly don't want to choose a rating that is too low, you don't necessarily always want to pick a P100 filter for every application - particularly if you're just looking for a simple dust mask to do home improvement work. Typically, an end user will find an N95 respirator cooler, and easier to breath through than a P99 or P95 dust mask. Respirator Rating Letter Class N - Not oil resistant R - Resistant to oil P - Oil Proof Respirator Rating Number Class 95 - Removes 95% of all particles that are at least 0.3 microns in diameter 99 - Removes 99% of particles that are at least 0.3 microns in diameter 100 - Removes 99.97% of all particles that are 0.3 microns in diameter or larger. HE or HEPA quality filter.
Question: How do I know what size this mask is? I'm reading the reviews saying it comes in 3 sizes S, M, L but it doesn't say anywhere on the description
Answer: I did not really find any differences in the 'sizes'. I thought I bought 2 sizes, a Med for me, and a Small for my wife. But after using them both, I have yet to find out which is the smaller one. In reality, you must buy it and try it out. If you try it out, just remember to minimize any stubble around the mask / face interface. Also test the seal on the mask... meaning plug the side filter holes (with them off) and inhale. If the mask sticks to your face, you are good to go. If not, they the face / mask seal is bad. Sweat or Vaseline can help make that seal better. After all, that seal provides the filtration benefits you are purchasing the mask for.

User questions & answers

Question: will this protect from round up
Answer: I would think so. I used these filters when I refinished my hardwood floors during the stain and oil based polyurethane coatings (very noxious fumes). The fumes were bad enough that even with windows open and fans running it kicked off my natural gas water heater due to combustion risk. Through out this hours long process over several days I used these and didn't have so much as a headache. About the 3rd day of use (~24 hours of use I'd estimate) I had to change the filters as I could start to smell the fumes through the mask. I would happily use these again and would feel safe using them for Plastidip.
Question: Is this suitable for spraying Plastidip
Answer: No. These do not filter the air leaving your mouth which is crucial to slowing virus spread. The air coming in would be filtered but this would be overkill and not any more effective than a N95 mask.
Question: Will these work with the virus going round
Answer: There is a cross-compatibility matrix for filters/cartridges and respirator models on the 3M website
Question: Are all 3M filters and cartridges interchangeable on one of their standard respirators
Answer: No. You need a supplied air system. Please contact the 3M Techline at 800-243-4630 to discuss options. Thank you for considering 3M products.

User questions & answers

Question: does 3M 60925 Gas Mask Cartridge, Formaldehyde / Organic Vapor / P100 fit on here
Answer: Same here, no masks, and no communication.
Question: Which filters would work for woodworkers, and which cartridge would work with those filters
Answer: I ordered mine April 10. USPS tracking shows they will arrive May 28. The site showed they had "shipped " and gave me a tracking number about a week after I ordered. USPS had that number, but no product until after May 21. Don't know what happened in the time between.
Question: What filters come with it
Answer: No label identifying where it was made. Per tracking it started in Chino, CA. I have received other items with tracking from Chino, CA and they did indicate made in China. US Customs requires identification as country of origin. This item has none.
Question: How do you figure your size
Answer: I bought three of them and I find them very comfortable. After each day I wash the one I used by hand and hang to dry the next day I did buy a new packet of inserts because they’re only good for a few days. I don’t mind wearing this for several hours because they’re comfortable to breathe then
