User questions & answers
Question: | I clean windows & do maintenance outdoors. We get snow where I live. Will this keep my hands warm enough to work comfortably |
Answer: | Go on their website |
Question: | Does this work with touchscreens |
Answer: | Depends on the needle really. I work on a prison and most of my gloves won't protect against sharp objects unless they have the special coating. But again it's way more $$ and only covers the palm and face of fingers. Sides and too are still exposed. In my experience anything leather it won't punture as easy. |
Question: | How warm are they |
Answer: | Although they're not meant to be, I've found they work with my iphones screen. Hope this helps. |
Question: | Do these run true to size, or small/large |
Answer: | I went thru 3 pairs of these in 2 months winching on a flatbed. Save your money and buy the $2 cheap one size fits all work gloves at Walmart. These impacts feel nice and they’re great but they do not hold up. Stitching coming apart, holes in fingers. For $30 I was expecting to get a lot more use out of these. |

Answer: | I'm a size 40 waist. It's extended as far out as it can go, and it's pretty snug. I doubt it would fit you. |
Question: | I'm only 5'6" with a 32 waist. Will it fit ok, or will it float on me |
Answer: | You should be fine. I am 6’2” and a waist size of 36”. It fits a little snug on me. |
Question: | How long is this apron |
Answer: | I stand 6'2" and the bottom of the apron covers to the top pf my thigh. |
Question: | how does it handle sparks from grinding |
Answer: | So far so good, it's not a welding apron so I wouldn't recommend constant grinding or welding but occasional grinding should be ok. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the dexterity like while wearing? Could I pick up a screw w a 7-8mm head, or are the fingers too bulky |
Answer: | If you really want to pick up a head that small, you can do it, but the fingers are bulky. I like then though :) |
Question: | Are these good for extrication? I am new to firefighting and need a good pair of gloves rugged enough to to pick up glass etc |
Answer: | These should be okay, but you might be able to get better Mechanix gloves for the ReallY tough stuff. I used these for autobody work, and they wore out (i ended up getting holes in them after about 3 months). These gloves DID keep my hands safe from picking up sharp metal, picking rugged body panels, working with tools, or just doing work in general. They are soft gloves though, so if something were to smash your finger, you'd feel it. I think I'd go for the "Women's Mechanix Impact Gloves" for your field (i could've use those too). |
Question: | Are they cut Reaistant |
Answer: | No, they will provide some protection from sharp/rough edges but a blade will cut right through these and your hand inside. If you need gloves for working with sharp objects (ex barbed wire) thick real leather gloves are the best protection. |
Question: | Can you type with them on? I move a lot of 5 gallon buckets of paint, and then have to sell them using a computer. How's the dexterity for this |
Answer: | You should be able to type with these. I am a train engineer and I have to push way smaller buttons on the train computer. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are these foreign knock-offs - not actually Mechanix Wear - like so many Amazon buyers have presented evidence to support |
Answer: | The ones I purchased seem to be legit. They have held up so far. Just make sure to buy straight from Amazon.com just in case you notice something weird the return policy is easier. |
Question: | How good are these gloves for landscaping |
Answer: | They are great gloves for handling tools. I don't think they would be good for ground/plant contact because they will lose their "grippiness". I also do not like the fastener because it is long and attaches underneath the wrist, my last pair was shorter and attached on top. |
Question: | Do the gloves fit as is or do they run a little bigger |
Answer: | Hi, I bought XL's both times, and they fit very well. Not so tight as to be difficult to remove after sweating, and loose enough to be comfortable. I also wear XL snow gloves. Hope this helps. |
Question: | Can you work a cell screen with gloves on |
Answer: | Surprisingly, it works great. Especially for a quick pic of your work. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Would these be good for handling boxes |
Answer: | If you need the nimble dexterity of two fingers and a thumb to label the boxes, these gloves would be good. If you're moving cardboard boxes in mass, the exposed skin will still dry out/crack. Go with a full glove if that is a concern. |
Question: | Do you have size small for son |
Answer: | How big in a unit of measure are your son's hands? |
Question: | How abraissain resistant are the palms |
Answer: | I buy these for my 21-year-old grandson who puts together engines on an assembly line. He says there are often metal burrs and that these gloves hold up really well. He said they are much better than gloves claiming to be cut resistant. |
Question: | Are there more specific wash instructions? I washed them on hand wash and they still managed to come out with holes. Disappointed to say the least |
Answer: | For more information on cleaning your gloves, please see our full Care Guide at the link below. https://www.mechanix.com/us-en/care-guide |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are these heat resistant |
Answer: | I think they fit perfect, I usually wear a large in all leather gloves like the Tillman 1414 L gloves and I let them stretch out to fit my hands. The Mechanix gloves fit great at first wear and don’t stretch out so I can actually order my normal size without allowing for stretch |
Question: | What country are they made in |
Answer: | Made from carefully selected high-quality cow leather with thickness depth above 1.2mm which is not only thick and sturdy but soft and supple. |
Question: | Are these good for truckers? Semi truck haulers |
Answer: | Use them for general hand protection and grip when using hand and power tools i.e.shovels,rototiller,chain saws etc.Buy 3 pairs at atime so always have a clean dry pair.Excellent glove highly recommend |
Question: | Do they happen to run to small or big depending on the size you order do they fit snug |
Answer: | Sorry, can't help you with 'where made?' - but will say after 1 year almost, getting them muddy and grimey, they are still holding up. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are they a good driving glove also |
Answer: | No not good driving gloves |
Question: | Do these have a membrane so moist vapor can escape from inside the glove |
Answer: | I used these gloves and my hands did not get wet. |
Question: | My boyfriend does land survey would he be able to use a hammer or close his fist easily |
Answer: | You can make a fist and I've used them for general cold weather yard work, but the gloves take away fine motor skills. Gripping a hammer would likely not be a problem. Holding a nail might be slightly more difficult. |
Question: | Will gloves keep my hands warm at 0 degrees Fahrenheit? Are they wind proof |
Answer: | I have had these gloves for several years now and just a little wear on the fingers but still keep my hands warm when I am out plowing my driveway with my tractor, But for extended periods of plowing in sub-zero windy weather I have two pair, one I am wearing and the other pair is tucked in the front of my jacket, when my fingers start getting cold, I just switch them out, and put the warm pair on and put the other pair in the jacket to warm up , I can keep going all day that way. I really like them. and I haven't found any one pair of gloves that will keep my hands warm all day in sub-zero weather without a little help. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Do these have touchscreen fingertips |
Answer: | Yes they're washable. In fact, getting them wet seems to help them break-in better - which unlike every other style of Mechanix gloves I've owned, these are extremely uncomfortable gloves at first. Took a good week before they stopped hurting my hands. I'm going to try the non-impact Genuine Leather version or their 4x Material Mpact next time. |
Question: | I need something that will last for long. usually leather is the best but they claim Material4X is better than genuine leather, so which is better |
Answer: | TAA original version is made in the USA. Some are some are not. Depends on the model. |
Question: | Are these gloves good for thorns and gardening |
Answer: | Suede, marine leather and dri-fit poly |
Question: | The item i received was defective and the plan was to get a replacement; although i needed the gloves and wore them. what can i do |
Answer: | These gloves are not heat resistant. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Hi, I just wanted to verify that these gloves have the gray wrist band and not a black wristband like the search picture shows |
Answer: | The pair that I bought had a black wrist band just like the picture. |
Question: | Are these gloves water proof |
Answer: | These gloves are not waterproof. |
Question: | How does the sizing run |
Answer: | I think it's pretty accurate. I wear a small and they fit about perfectly. |
Question: | Are these gloves puncture-proof so as to prevent splinters while handling firewood |
Answer: | No they are not puncture proof. but they will take a heck of a beating. If you are doing firewood you will want to get a pair of all leather gloves. I used my mechanix gloves for firewood last year, they were comfortable and worked well but they ripped out in a short time the seems don't hold up very long especially with firewood. I did really like wearing them while running the chain saw but these gloves are made more for protecting your hands from scrapes and sharp pieces of metal while turning wrenches. I loved the pair that I own but they don't hold up to the firewood. just get a cheep $5 pair of all leather gloves you will be happy with them. |
