14 best mre meal
MRE, or Meals Ready-to-Eat, are individual field rations designed for military personnel but have also become popular in emergency preparedness and outdoor activities. These meals are fully cooked and sealed in durable packaging, ensuring a long shelf life and the ability to be consumed without the need for additional cooking.
MRE meals typically include a variety of components such as an entrée, sides, snacks, a dessert, and beverages. They are designed to provide a balanced and nutritionally dense meal for individuals in situations where traditional cooking may not be feasible.
One of the key features of MREs is their convenience. They come with their own heating element, allowing the user to warm up the meal without the need for external tools or equipment. This is especially useful in situations where access to a stove or microwave is limited.
In the context of safety and security, having MREs on hand can be beneficial for emergency preparedness kits. They are designed to withstand harsh conditions and provide a reliable source of sustenance during emergencies or when traditional food sources are unavailable.
For those interested in tools and home improvement related to emergency preparedness, including MREs in your safety kit ensures that you have a reliable and portable food source ready for any unforeseen circumstances.

User questions & answers
Question: | year shelf life? Sooo which is it |
Answer: | It is 5-10 depending on the temperature you store them in. At 65 degrees storage with no light people have reported meals lasting 15yrs. Personally I would replace them every 2-3 yrs after the inspection date to make sure extra fresh but again they will last way longer. |
Question: | A couple of the mre heating bags were torn upon opening, is there any way i can get replacements |
Answer: | Might check with the shipper re: their policy on damaged merchandise |
Question: | Do these come with FRH's |
Answer: | The ones I have for sale do. I can not speak for the rest of them. |
Question: | How is inspection date |
Answer: | Inspection date is 3 yrs after manufacture. This is how MREs are dated. |
Product description

12 Meals x 2 Cases = 24 Meals
Pack date: 2017
Inspection date: 2020 - This is NOT the expiration date. Meals are good for at least 7 years if stored at 70 F or below. In a cool and dry environment
User questions & answers
Question: | After opening the sealed cases are you able to find a packaging date stamped on the individual meal bags |
Answer: | Yes. Each date code is stamped on each package inside and on the main pouch. The first number is the year within the decade and the last three are the day of the year . I received fresh as 2017 stamps on mine. |
Question: | Hi. What is the difference between case A and case B |
Answer: | They are different meals. see page 8 and on. A is 1-12 B is 12-18 http://www.dla.mil/Portals/104/Documents/TroopSupport/Subsistence/Rations/acrs/mre/m037.pdf |
Question: | Should the pack date start with a 7 if the inspection date is in |
Answer: | Yes that is correct. we are looking at the pictures and they seem to be 2016 pack date and 2020 inspection, which is odd. This is not our listing and we have no control over the pictures on the listing. Our MREs will have a 2017 pack date that will reflect on the case with a Julian date starting with a "7" |
Question: | Why are these now almost 400 dollars when a few months ago they were only |
Answer: | Since everyone is adding their 2 cents in the answers I guess I will join in. Firstly to the guy who said these are an example of socialism and that they were made using taxpayer dollars you don't seem to understand how military surpluses work. The government didn't make these using taxpayer dollars. A private company makes tons of these and sells them to various buyers including private citizens, emergency response agencies, charities that feed people across the world and yes the US military. That isn't socialism that is capitalism. And yes MREs and LOTS of other products increase in price when COVID hit. You can blame the seller or you can blame the ding dongs hoarding and buying stuff at double the price. |

These individual environment-friendly meal bags carry high endurance to help you achieve your daily nutrition goals by providing 1250 calories per serving.
The ready-made survival ration bag does not only come with only the food menu mentioned on the pack. They are designed with utmost empathy to provide the final user with complete resources needed to eat comfortably. The MRE kit includes an accessory pack with flavor-enhancing seasonings, food items, powder shake, spoon, and other survival essentials. As they don’t have short-term expiry issues, they carry an inspection date with them which suggests that it can be used for 3 to 5 years on average after the mentioned inspection date. - Genuine US War Fighter Rations are the ultimate survivalist, Prepper & outdoor enthusiast Meal.

Answer: | Vacuum Plastic Packaging |
Question: | Contains breakfast etc or just one meal |
Answer: | Just one meal but it's one heck of a meal! Includes drinks & dessert. |

Question: | Will I be getting the whole assortment as stated on the ads? I just want to make sure because I read a review saying that he got mostly has browns |
Answer: | I know from my own ordering experiences, I've not been disappointed or had to question the contents of the order. The order I received contained the contents as advertised on the MRE website. To ensure an equitable variety of products I'd look for an ad that detailed exactly what you'd be getting and how many of each. If it just says "variety," then you might be taking your chances. |
