| Answer: | It's an easy fix if you're the least bit handy with a drill (and what self respecting dental professional isn't?) Go to safetyglasses.com and find the same frame...usually you can find a brand name on the broken frame. Or you can select the frame that appeals to you. I buy 6 frames for less than half of what the loupe company was going to charge! Just make sure there is a thicker center section wider than the distance between the screw holes in the loupes. Now the fun!! Center the mounting plate that goes on the backside of the loupe frame in the middle of the center section of the frame...you know...above your nose. Use a thin marker to place two dots where the screws go thru. Now use either a slow speed straight cone handpiece or a Dremel with a #6 round bur. and drill two holes just big enough for the screws to fit. It's easy! And if you "screw up" one frame no worries because you have 5 others. I prep 6 at a time so when the frame scratches or cracks, it takes me 2 minutes to swap out a new frame. No boohoos just because the cheap frame cracks...you save $1500-2000 over what that specialty company was going to charge you...and don't be fooled...theirs break too and cost another fortune to fix. I travel around the world doing volunteer dentistry with my cheapo's in a small food storage box stuffed with socks...always arrive in one piece! |

| Answer: | Measuring at the center post supports for the lenses, it appears that the inter pupillary distance would be approx 2.62" or 66.6mm at widest setting. When I sit down at a microscope, I almost always have to widen the field of focus if anyone else has used the scope. My comfortable setting on these loupes is significantly inside their limits. Not an ophthalmologists, so that's about the best I can do. |
