Answer:	The manufacturer's technical specifications for this unit indicate that the unit is designed to detect natural gas and propane, which are the two most common type of gas used in heating and cooking in residential settings. Hydrogen gas is not a part of the specification.

Answer:	Virtually all explosive gas monitors employ a heating element as part of their design. Because of this, such devices must be plugged into a household outlet. So the answer is no. This unit in particular will only last about one day on battery power, at which point the unit will stop working and the battery will have to be replaced. The Kidde KN-COEG-3 AC powered, plug-in CO and explosive gas alarm protects you and your family from 2 deadly threats. The KN-COEG-3 includes 9-Volt battery back up that provides protection during a power outage, when AC-only units can not provide protection. By pressing the Peak Level Button you can see the peak CO level recorded by the alarm since it was last reset or unplugged. The continuous digital display shows you the level of carbon monoxide (if any) the unit is sensing as well as if gas is present. The gas sensor is a metal oxide sensor designed to detect natural gas (methane) or propane.

Question:	Can you run this on battery only
Answer:	Yes almost certain it’s same 3 wire plug on back of kidde detectors. (Worst case they can be spliced. have to splice anyway to any detector)
Question:	How long will it run on battery if the power is out
Answer:	There is a 5 year warranty on this device. Usually the fire department says to change out your smoke alarm every 7 years, and change the battery every year. They recommend marking your calendar, for the same time every year, so to be sure you have a good working device in case of a power outage and can still hear the audio alarm.
Question:	What is the difference between this kidde model kidde kn-coeg-3 and the kn-coeg-3 nighthawk besides price
Answer:	i would believe if your system is a 120 volt hard wired system with three wire connection s, this will operate. The red wire connects to send alarm signal to additional detectors and all should sound.
Question:	Where is best place in home to install
Answer:	It can be interconnect with compatible smoke detectors but does not work as I expected. The smoke alarm alert sounds on the CO alarm but the CO alarm alert does NOT sound on the smoke detectors. To me this is not interconnect.
