Answer:	The mount screws will fit but the base plate itself is slightly smaller and you might have to touch up paint. The connectors will fit as well so no need to change those

The manufactures recommend frequent dusting with a vacuum to prevent dust or spiders from causing false alarms. A 3rd wired is required in the electrical box to interconnect the detectors (Black is commonly Power, White is Neutral and Red is the Interconnect wire with bare being the ground which is not connected to the smoke alarm). The smoke alarm pigtail connector wires are black, white and orange (black to black, white to white and orange to red). Chirping is a low battery or loss of electrical power indication only. Sustained repeated loud blasts are an alarm event on the 4th blast it triggers the other detectors in the residence that are interconnected (hold the test button until the 4th blast to test the interconnection function). Answer:	The unit that initiated the alarm will display a red light instead of green (while the others remain green). The same is true for the low battery latch - the unit with the low battery will flash green instead of having a steady green light. We had one unit (of 9) that kept false alarming when first installed, but we had just completed a renovation so may have been due to dust. It was nice to easily identify which unit initiated the alarm. No problems since replacing that one unit.

Answer:	Yes. I just replaced 2 very old (older than 10 years) BRK Electronics Model 4120B smoke detectors with these newer First Alert/BRK Brand Model 9120B units. My older units were yellowed with age, so I also replaced the plastic base. I did reuse the 3 pin electrical connector, as the "old" electrical connector matches the new unit. The new smoke detectors are functioning/self-testing normally.

Answer:	I suppose the battery life would depend upon how often it is used. I open my safe rarely but some might do it daily, thus affecting battery life. On the outside of the lock, there is a rubber-covered set of contact to which a 9-volt battery can be applied. This will allow the mechanism to be activated should the internal batteries be depleted. The key, by the way, is used as an additional lock but is optional. The electronic lock must be used. The key cannot be substituted instead of the electronic lock. The electonic lock is always in effect. The key is additional locking and if locked, the electronic lock alone will not open the safe.

Answer:	I bought one in 2012. I have changed the batteries once, about five years ago. Thought it was due for a change now but it has reached the end of its ten-year "life" after seven years. To be fair, the sticker indicates it was manufactured in April of 2010, so it was on a shelf for two years, making it nine years old.

Answer:	I’m using these to replace the wired units from the same manufacturer. They fit the same mount. Two units never worked right, and a third less than seven years old just stopped working. I don’t know if they were wired properly or not to begin with, so I’m going with these ones.

Make sure to put that alarm in a central location and keep track which is the hub alarm.

Answer:	Rhonda,The hole is 3 3/4" in diameter. The light kit comes with the hole-cutting tool needed to cut the hole in your pool wall. The instructions are detailed and easy to follow when installing this light. The only other things you will need is an electric drill and a drill bit for drilling into metal. This is so you can drill a "pilot hole" to center the hole-cutting tool that comes with the kit. My wife and I we're able to install this light in about 15-20 minutes. We installed this under water light 5 years ago, and it still works like a champ today...haven't even had to replace the bulb! And that's with a ton of use! So even though this light gives plently of underwater lighting, we purchased another one recently (cause we wanted even more underwater lighting), and we will be installing it in a couple of weeks when the weather gets warmer. Hayward underwater lights are tops in their class and you won't be disappointed with this light. Answer:	I was thinking, if you do find a wireless photoelectric detector, especially one by Kidde, it should work perfectly as you can adjust frequency on each alarm, obviously so a neighbors doesnt match yours as well as for reasons of interference. If you find one, I suggest purchasing one to begin with to test the compatibility. The communications shouldn't be any different in them. Im not sure if you found one already and are just not sure of the compatibility or you simply can't find anything of the sort.

Answer:	Yes! I just replaced mine and the 12040 is a plug-n-play replacement for the 1275. No changing of electrical or base (if you don't want to.) I changed a couple of bases because of discoloring, however, it didn't need to be done. Very happy with the product.
Question:	Can this smoke detector be used in an unheated garage? We live in an area where it gets below zero at times in the winter
Answer:	The Kidde i12040 units are "perfect" replacement units (same interface and can swap out) for our previous Kidde 1275 units. I didn't have to change the short electric connector or the ceiling mounting plate. I installed them in early November 2014, and so far all are functioning fine. I replaced four of our six units. When I tested the new detectors, all units -- both the older ones and the new ones -- triggered and alarmed properly. I did replace the mounting units because the old ones were fading... if yours are still in good condition, you don't have to change them. The new plates are identical, and can be installed in the exact same position as the existing plates, and using the existing screws without re-positioning them.Hope this helps. Answer:	Hello. We here at Kidde are not sure what they are talking about with Generation 1 and Generation 2. We did upgrade our model about 10 years ago from the I12060 to the I12060A. A low battery hush feature was added where if you pushed the test button while it was chirping for low battery, it would stop chirping for low battery for 10 hours. Also there were minor changes in how the red LED indicators indicated alarm memory mode and HUSH mode to save on the battery. The boxes for the alarms and descriptions online will still say I12060 but you are nearly guaranteed to get the I12060A in the box. Answer:	I called First Alert on this question. The "OneLink" branding used to refer to these "Wireless Interconnected" detectors. So if you have the SA511 series of smoke alarms, they will be compatible with the SCO500 series of smoke and CO detectors. They should all link together. They've removed the "OneLink" branding from the shipping detectors even though resellers are still using older pictures. The "OneLink" branding is now used on their newer (but incompatible) Wifi-enabled detectors. Personally I think it was silly of them to reuse the branding for incompatible systems since it causes confusion just like this.Short answer: Yes, the older "wireless interconnected" devices talk together. Newer Wifi-enabled devices now labeled "OneLink" are NOT compatible.

Answer:	You won't ever need to clean it. If your experience with these AWFUL AWFUL devices is like mine, it will wake you up multiple nights with false positives until you rip it from the ceiling and DESTROY IT WITH A POWER DRILL like I did. Someday Quintin Tarantino will make a movie about these fire alarms, the premise of which is that Uma Thurman will spend thirty reels hunting them down and getting revenge against them one-by-one.

Answer:	On set up, the device will seek others. If none are found, it will be in a default stand alone condition. However, if your intention is stand alone operation, buy a cheaper version.
