User questions & answers
Question: | Do either of the 2 plugs on the front of the pump (below the inlet) have suction or are they both for pressure relief |
Answer: | Self priming pumps contain a fragile "tank" on the front of the volute that simply holds water to ensure it primes properly. It is NOT meant to be pressurized so never plumb these pumps in where you might shut off either the intake or output without pressure relief to the expansion chamber.. Those two plugs on the front of the pump (FP4012 depicted model, not the FP4022 as listed) I believe, are utilized to drain it for "winterization" to ensure that there is no water that might freeze, expand and break the volute priming chamber. I suggest those two plugs can be drains or perhaps for a very low pressure line that can be used to prime the pump, I don't know of other applications. I like the Flotec FP4022 as with proper installation they can last twenty years of shallow well service. They're very efficient and durable, much better than many comparable brands. I have two of these, one of them fifteen years old. However proper installation is very important. Feel free to forward questions about the installations, I have over 30 years of experience with well water pumps at my residence. |
Question: | i need to install this pump on a deep well , about 32ft, what accessories I have to buy and where to buy. Thanks |
Answer: | Hello,To not be misinformed please contact the manufacturer.Flotec Pumps Customer Service: (800)365-6832Thank You,Lindsay |
Question: | would this be a suitable pump for a small pond |
Answer: | Alison, if installed properly, this is suitable, no optimal, to pump from a small pond. In that case you must plumb in a screening system on the pump intake and closer to the pump intake a check valve. This is a wonderfully durable, efficient pump. If you need high pressure for domestic water use it's an appropriate unit. If you seek to only pump water for irrigation or washing, a "dirty water" submersible pump is much easier to install but the pressure is much lower, not sufficient for residential use. This submersible pump is simply lowered into the pond attached to a hose that feeds irrigation system or washing hose. |
Question: | I have a 5000 water holding tank, my pressure loss is from the holding tank to that house, will this system work to bring pressure to the house |
Answer: | Yes, it can be installed to "boost" the pressure from a couple of pounds per square inch to around 25 pounds per square inch. However, it's important that it is installed properly. The intake of the pump MUST have an appropriate check valve between the pump and holding tank that only allows flow in one direction. Also you MUST have a small pressurized tank (5 to 20 gallon) with an internal air filled bladder plumbed to the output of the pump to allow some storage on the output so the pump is not turning off and on with every small water consumption. So it's not just pump require, the check valve costs around $25 and the bladder tank around $100 additional. However, I have had impressive luck with these Flotec pumps, they are a great value. Once installed properly they can last well over 15 years of heavy use. |

User questions & answers
Question: | can this be used horizontal |
Answer: | Rucs65in works with natural gas. Rucs65in works with propane. |
Question: | Does it leak, at all? My pump loses its prime, I need the valve to retain about 2' of water in the inlet line for a week between pump cycles |
Answer: | Yes. Outdoor unit vents directly outside the unit and needs to be in full open air. Indoor unit has a connection for the exhaust pipe. They make a nice short one for going directly through a garage wall to the outside. |
Question: | Is this sweat or threaded |
Answer: | If you look on the Rinnai website they list their standard warranty. I think its 5 years on unit 10 years on burner but I am not 100% sure. I have a new RUCS75IN natural gas unit in box for sale [email protected] |
Question: | What size is this |
Answer: | No, your choice is to run two shed 40 runs all the way out of building (2 holes) or choose to run two in one concentric pipe from water heater out for the hole in wall. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I plum this straight off my city water service without fear of starving it |
Answer: | Standard pipe thread. Regular steal pipe, however it's important to use drive couplers to connect the pipes. Drive couplers have an extra support so the pipe isn't as likely to break off at the threads. |
Question: | Does it come with the pressure gauge? The 120V power cord |
Answer: | Dont waste your time trying to drive it. Make a water jet drill pipe with 2 1/2" pvc. Water jet the pvc down 20' in 1 hr and drop the 1 1/4" point down the inside of the 2 1/2" pvc. Then pull the 2 1/2" pvc up a few feet to expose the well point to the water. Easy. |
Question: | My well is 30 ft deep, will this pump pull from that? And if so will it be enough to water my garden |
Answer: | I think you'll want be at least an inch within plumb in 7 feet, if you are more out than that I would pull out and retstart. |
Question: | Can we get a refund |
Answer: | 2 1/4" You need a 2 1/2" casing. It will not fit inside a 2" pipe |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this to powerful for 2-3 sprinklers |
Answer: | I have a bout 15 sprinklers on this pump and it goes a fantastic job so you don’t have to worry about two or three I have five zones and there’s about 15 on each Sone |
Question: | The pump is advertized as 1 1/2 hp. under technical details it says 1 hp. which is correct |
Answer: | The one that I received was a 1 1/2 |
Question: | what kind pump i need to move water uphill from 25 or 30 feet |
Answer: | I use my pump to irrigate my lawn in Florida so there is not too much of a rise but I would imagine it would pump at least 30 feet uphill. |
Question: | What is the max amps this pump pulls at startup |
Answer: | 1.5 hp = 1118.55 watts so if running at 240 volts = 4.66 amps. In rush current (start up) can be 4 to 5 times more than running amps. If running on 120 volts = 9.3 amps same in rush of 4 to 5 times. 4 times would be over 37 amps. I am running this pump on 240 and a double pole 50 amp breaker. The wire run is 300 foot long. I am using 6 gauge wire. everything is well. I think a 30 amp double pole would do the trick since 5 times the inrush @ 240 volts is 23.3 amps. This will allow a smaller wire too 30 amps require 10 gauge. As always check your local codes. Use this info as a guide only. not responsible for any wrong info. |

Question: | Can this pump be used for continuous duty like 1 or 2 hours |
Answer: | I use mine to pump out rain water from my in ground pool when it begins to overflow the top of the safety cover in winter. I usually run it for 18 to 24 hours at a time to drop my pool level down to an appropriate level. I usually have to to this about 4 or 5 times each winter. I am on year 4 and no issues. Just protect it from sun and rain. Update: As Muphy's Law would dictate, my pump died 2 weeks after answering this question. But I got 4 years out of it and I'm buying another. It held up pretty well for the amount of work it did. |
Question: | How much lift does this pump have (how many feet up a vertical pipe can it pump |
Answer: | At most 20 ft. You are better off placing the pump 10 ft above the source and then running another section of hose/pipe to get the remaining height/elevation you are trying to reach |

Question: | Where is the water fitting located |
Answer: | I vented mine out through the side of the house from the basement. The unit has a PVC pipe running at a slight upward angle until the end of the pipe outside of the house. That was the easiest for me though. |
Question: | Will this boost my water pressure and volume |
Answer: | I have not had any issues with it and I have hard water. There is a flush kit that allows you to drain sediment. I highly recommend adding this as well. My unit came with the appropriate valves to to this. |
Question: | Ok so does this come with a welded on pump mounting bracket or not? The customers who say yes are dated 2014. The more recent purchaser says no |
Answer: | Not sure, check their website |
Question: | Does the tank you have in stock model FP7110T includes the pump mounting bracket on top |
Answer: | The Wattage is negligible In only uses electricity to ignite the gas and run the system board. Probably as much as an alarm clock |
