| Answer: | Yes, Andrew Bauer covered it well. However, you must regularly maintain the pump according to the manufacturer's instructions, or the safety switch won't work when needed. I didn't know about the maintenance requirement (thanks, installers), so my 18 year old old pump didn't stop the A/C and I ended up with water all over the place. The one time in 18 years I needed the safety switch and it didn't work! Just make sure you put pump maintenance on your calendar. |

I’ve had two of them for over 20 years and they still work fine. Use a check valve if you’re pumping to any height otherwise the water runs back on shutoff so the pump has to run much more often. |

When water reservoir full, pump energized. Output line has valve, which works in one direction and prevents backward flow. Valve reaction is independent from pump mode. I use the same pump in my house for dehumidifier. |

| Answer: | The Little Giant 554421 (model: VCMA-20UL) should have no problem with 8ft high, and a 55ft distance. Mine pumps water about 8ft high and a 30ft distance. It has been extremely reliable even though I don't clean it out as often as I probably should. I have had it for 8 or so years and it runs year-round (air-conditioner in the summer, humidifier in the winter). I did have to replace the check valve, but that was probably due to going too long without being cleaned. |

Indeed I sometimes like to hear it to know my whole house humidifier is running...it is quieter than my furnace (which is quiet--and new)...but the air flow of the furnace masks any sound from the pump. With a door closed, you will not hear much... |

| Answer: | Yes. This pump was the original pump installed for my central AC drain. Worked fine for 10 years until a mouse ate a hole in the bottom so had to purchase a new one. It has 3 inlet "drain" holes so you should be able to install the AC and dehumidifier drains simultaneously. The diameter of the inlet drain holes is 1" (i.e. will accept 1" O.D. drain lines). |

| Answer: | Depends, but most likely, ‘yes’. Just be sure the Little Giant is a ‘like-for-like’ replacement regarding specifications. For example, get one with AT LEAST the same static head ratings—i.e., the maximum vertical height that the water can be pumped above the unit. Most home HVAC systems cannot overwhelm the tank faster than it can void the collected water, so the Little Giant most likely will meet your requirements, but again, just compare specs and match (or exceed) what you have now.
