Question:	Do you need electric to the tank
Answer:	Yes need 110v plug to fire ignitor.
Question:	Is the remote control optional? if so, how can the unit be turned on/off without the remote? there is no on/off switch on the unit
Answer:	Remote is optional. I have a switch connected to the power which I can turn on and off. In other words the 110v power you need to supply the unit I have an on and off switch to that. My unit runs in the on position so when I open the hot water valve at the faucet it will allow hot water to flow.
Question:	HI, Could you share how you set up the filtering system
Answer:	This unit does not come with a filtering system. You could always purchase a separate filtering system to go along with this heater. The filter has to be installed before the tankless and all proper installation procedures should be followed according to the manufacturer's guidelines and your local plumbing laws.
Question:	What is nr50odng actual input gas line size 1/2" or 3/4"? is outdoor metal housing case available
Answer:	It’s a 3/4 female for the gas. It can be mounted outside with the housing it comes in.

Answer:	I live in Los Angeles California so no enclosure needed here

Answer:	Typically a 1/2" gas supply line can not provide the volume of gas needed. It is not just a matter of adding an adapter. A 3/4" gas line is required from the meter or common manifold.

Answer:	No. It is outdoor only (note item description). If you wish to install inside must buy one specifically for that. Has to do with venting gases and safety issues.

Answer:	No, unless you want to set the water temp lower than the standard 120 degrees (higher temps may be set on the unit).
Question:	how does this unit vent
Answer:	It vents through the slot near the top. This is the exterior model and does not have the duct connection of the interior model.
Question:	Can it be mounted in a 2 car garage, and allowed to vent in there
Answer:	No, but the indoor model has a duct connection to vent exhaust to a safe place (outside).

Question:	Does wind effect the function of the pilot
Answer:	no. it has an electric pilot on demand.
Question:	Does this unit require electricity
Answer:	Yes. 120 Volt, 15 Amp is required. This powers the small on-board controller and the igniter. Hope this helps.
Question:	can this be used in below freezing temps
Answer:	We just installed the unit and do not have experience using it during winter months. We made sure the cold (incoming) and the hot (outgoing) pipes were well insulated and protected from the elements. The manual indicates freeze protection to -4 degrees Fahrenheit. Hope this helps.

Answer:	Hi Jay, Understand that you have cold water in your pipes that has to be pushed through to your open faucet and discharged before the hot water can get to you. Your Rinnai instantly starts heating your water when you open the faucet but there is all that cold water in the way. The closer your faucet is to the unit the sooner you get the hot water. If you are concerned about water waste, use the cold water to start scrubbing your sink or tub and then rinse with the hot water when it purges the cold sitting there. Your Rinnai saves you a ton of money by being on demand so be patient. Brush you teeth in the cold so no waste also. It is a great unit! John and Joanne
