This IntelliFlow (TM) automatic washing machine shutoff valve with leak sensor is used in residential applications to protect against catastrophic water damage from a burst inlet hose connected to a washing machine in use or unattended. It senses when the washing machine is on or off and then opens or closes the hot and cold inlet valves as needed to allow or prevent water from flowing to the washer. If it detects a leak, current flow to both the hot and cold water valves are immediately interrupted and closed. This device consists of an electrical three-prong outlet to receive a washing machine power cable, leak sensor, power cord, and a replaceable internal strainer screen. It also comes equipped with 1/2 inch sweat inlet adapters for both hot and cold water supply tubing and two mounting tabs used to secure the valve to the wall for surface mount applications. Question:	My water supply lines come down from above, not from below. Can I just flip the unit over and have it still function properly
Answer:	I found the instruction manual. It specifically shows in the installation diagram that the water supply lines are below the box with a note "install upright". So no, you cannot flip the unit over and install upside down (and have it still function properly).

Answer:	There is a procedure for synchronizing the unit with the washer (it should be in the instructions), you may have to do this several time for several weeks before it works properly. Answer:	I got one for a washing machine about 2 years ago and the outlets were 90 degrees from the inlet. The first picture shows one male and one female thread with a fitting in it which is what we got. We did not get the one with the compression fittings. They have nothing to do with adjusting to hot and cold...this is for your wash machine to determine, depending on cycle, although one side is for hot the other for cold. My advice to You is that you make sure that you get the correct one and have a licensed plumber install it !
