Answer:	This diverter only works in one direction! If you used it conjunction with a shower arm, then you will need a male coupler to join the female ends. I happened to used the coupler to join the nipple ( pipe coming out of the wall ) to the diverter, and then screwed the shower arm onto the other end. Does not work that way - revered it and it works great! You can test the unit by simply blowing into either end and working the diverter valve.
Question:	s this a 2 way or 3 way diverter? A previous answered question indicates this selects between A and B, which would be 2 way. Is the 3rd way off
Answer:	Water comes in one pipe and goes out the other two (rather obviously I suppose). Fully turned one direction or the other directs it to one of the two openings exclusively (ways 1 & 2), but it is not a completely binary switch and you can turn it in between the two options to have both on at the same time and vary the intensity of each by adjusting between the extreme positions (which would be the "3rd" way I suppose). No "off position," just one or the other exclusively, or in between.I have mine connected to the main "rain" shower head and a handheld sprayer as well. I start with just the main head and then turn it half-way between the two to have both on at the same time. All the way over to just use the handheld is particularly useful when cleaning the tub out.

Answer:	I don't recall having any problems with the rubber seal and I am not sure how you are slipping it over the cartridge. With that said, you could try rotating the faceplate over the cartridge as you are pushing it on and apply pressure around the seal so it doesn't fall off. You could also try lubricating the seal so it slips on easier. I am also wondering if the seal is the correct size. I wish you luck.
