Answer:	I tried DW's 780 model last year on a small commercial job and it just sucked. Well, it didn't suck in one respect, namely dust collection, which was the worst I've seen on a modern tool. As bad, the dual sliding tubes had stiction built-in so you got a very jerky action when pulling the saw forward or pushing it back. The thing was terrible in a few other respects as well, and I returned it to the leading big box store under their branded credit card return policy. I have an older DW 12" miter saw that I've had since it was new about 13 years ago and it's only a little better. I'm going to try a Makita pretty soon and will seel the old, inaccurate, troublesome-since-new DW. I like their battery tools but I'm all done with their plug-in stuff.

Question:	Is the current model that is shipping type 1 or type 20. If you look up the parts diagram the type 20 has a different slide mechanism part number
Answer:	I bought a new one today from a lumberyard and it is a Type 1. (says right on the sticker on the motor) Not sure if that means the slide mechanism is better or worse than the Type 20. I would assume it was made in 2014 because there is a "Dewalt use only" tag on the box which starts with 2014. Not sure if a "fresher" saw is a Type 20

Answer:	mmToolparts actually sells a kit (3 proprietary DeWalt parts + their wiring harness) for less than $70. They have videos on their website that show how to install the parts on DW716, DWS779, and DWS782 saws. You will need some additional tools (torx screw drivers or torx bits, wire strippers/cutter/crimper) and somewhat mechanically inclined. Just google "DWS779 xps light kit" and they should be the top result. This might be an easier option versus going to a DeWalt service center in the post pandemic world.

Answer:	It does not come with any laser for guidance. You may find my answer a bit crude, I've been using miter saws for many years and the best guiding system I found to work is my/your eyes. Having lasers or no lasers you still need to use your eyes to get the work piece spot on near the cutoff point. Hope this helps!

Answer:	You can add the LED light to this saw. Not a laser but a shadow light that show exactly where the saw blade will cut. I just did it last night. Parts can be had for about $70. This basically turns it into a model 780 which is much more expensive. Pretty simple to add.

Answer:	Good question and I don't see any reason why not depending on the thickness of the tubing. I have a Dewalt chop saw I used to cut aluminum studs when I was refinishing my basement and it cut just fine with a metal cutting blade. It was a 10" vs 12" saw however. Motors and Amp rating was the same as my DW 716 Mite Saw. May want to ping someone at DeWalt or search thier web site. May not be the right thing to do but you could ask someone at one of the Big Box Home Improvement stores as well.

Answer:	The saw was sufficiently packaged to protect it during shipping. I got mine in perfect condition. The manufacturer's packaging took care of most of the protection, and I'm pretty sure it was over-boxed as well. Hope this helps, and enjoy the saw. I haven't had a ton of use from mine yet, but have done several smaller projects with just a few cuts and have been pleased with the performance (it's not a cheap toy) and ease of handling. The size and weight make it easy to get it out and start cutting, then put away quickly when the job is done.

Answer:	No not with one cut. You would have to turn the 4x4 over. Blade is a 7 1/4" diameter, same as a hand held circular saw. From the tip of the teeth to the edge of the washer (at center of blade) I get 2 7/8".
Question:	What's the cross cut capacity if we use the entire sliding action
Answer:	On a straight 90, I can cut 8" wide boards. On a 45, I can cut right around 5-7/8". This saw was a great addition for me, as I'm constantly working in places away from a simple power source (my generator is a beast and not easy to transport). It cuts cleanly, hasn't bogged down yet (even on wet 2x6 treated), and is super light and easy to transport.

Answer:	The UK version (Bosch GCM 12 GDL Professional) ships with an included non battery powered laser that produces two lines that bracket the saw kerf. Not sure why Bosch made the laser layout tool an extra for USA version. There are other differences between these models and the UK 240V version has more options as stardard equipment.

Answer:	Yes, it has a depth stop. The saw cuts very nice and it glides effortlessly, u must adjust the drag on it. When cutting dadoes, it does not hang up like rail type saws when the fine dust finds its way into the rail bearings like the Dewalt I used to use. It was an expensive investment in a saw, but i really like it so much more then any of my previous sliding compound saws.

Answer:	SGT .several reasons i chose this saw over the 5312. first off I run a high end custom cabinet shop and this saw sees very heavy uses. The sliding rails on the type of the Bosh 5312 always get dust in the bearings and with time the sliding action sticks and must be taken apart, the bearings cleaned and re-lubed with dry silicone lubricant. That is what my experience was with my last 3 sliding saws, (Dewalt, Ryobe and Dewalt pro). the other thing i love about the Bosch GCM12SD its there are no rails sticking out the back of the saw, and the clearance from the wall where my saw sits is no longer needed. It was a great investment even though its on the pricy side. i love the accuracy and the performance, I change to a better cutting blade and the performance got better. I switch from the stock blade and now run a Forrest CM12806115 Chopmaster 12 inch 80 tooth blade cleaner cuts and very smother with no tear outs. i hope this helps you

Item #LG-M01 Installation Note: The arbor recess on the laser guide is made to fit many machines and may have some amount of play when mounted. To address the universal arbor recess, when installing the laser guide, once it is placed on the arbor you can rotate it slightly which will allow the laser guide to self-center on the end of the arbor shaft prior to tightening down. In some cases such as 12" machines and those with metric arbor sizes, the blade adapter or inside arbor flange washer can protrude past the blade body preventing the laser guide from tightening down fully on the blade. Often this compatibility issue can be overcome by utilizing a full kerf blade, or if needed, a thinner blade adapter on your machine.

Warning: Read and follow all instructions that came with your saw. Never look directly into the laser beam. Do not use if the laser guide does not secure the blade properly.

Question:	Is there a built in clamp so the wood can be clamped to the fence
Answer:	There is no built in clamp.
Question:	How can you attach a temporary wood fence for clamping on a work stop? It look like you can't attach on the right
Answer:	Mounting holes are provided in all four feet to facilitate bench mounting. There are round countersunk holes for use with screws and square holes for use with the miter saw stand "carraige bolt" or M8 (5/16") or smaller bolts. Use either hole, it is not necessary to use both. Always mount your saw firmly to prevent movement. To enhance the tool’s portability, it can be mounted to a piece of 1/2" (12.7 mm) or thicker plywood which can then be clamped to your work support or moved to other job sites and reclamped. NOTE: If you elect to mount your saw to a piece of plywood, make sure that the mounting screws don’t protrude from the bottom of the wood. The plywood must sit flush on the work support. When clamping the saw to any work surface, clamp only on the clamping bosses where the mounting screw holes are located. Clamping at any other point will surely interfere with the proper operation of the saw. CAUTION: To prevent binding and inaccuracy, be sure the mounting surface is not warped or otherwise uneven. If the saw rocks on the surface place a thin piece of material under one saw foot until the saw sits firmly on the mounting surface. Be sure all blade and blade clamps are clean, recessed sides of blade clamps are against blade and arbor screw is tightened securely. Loose or improper blade clamping may result in damage to the saw and possible personal injury.
Question:	Will the included blade cut aluminum; or is there a different blade available for that purpose
Answer:	Yes, the blade will cut aluminum; however, is not designed for aluminum and I'm sure there are some pieces of aluminum, such as very thick pieces that could destroy the blade or the saw. Look for a blade better suited to the material you are intending to cut.
Question:	Can I cut 4x4 stock with this in a single pass
Answer:	Yes. That would be completely within the capabilities of this saw. I used this model to cut 4x4 for legs of a table just a month ago no problem.
