Answer:	I just went out and measured: the distance from the inside of the fence to the inside of a 1/4" blade is 11 & 15/16s inches. Hope this answers your question. BTW, this is one of the two most valued tools in my shop. I absolutely love it.
Question:	What is the distance between the blade and the fense when the fense is moved to the maximum distance from the blade
Answer:	The wheels on mine were balanced from the factory, and still run very smoothly, with the extra momentum that cast iron's density allows. I do not know how to determine what method the factory used to accomplish it.I bought mine with the 6 inch riser and a rolling base, and have been very happy with my investment.
Question:	Are the cast iron wheels "balanced", and if so, using what method…i.e.. computer balanced
Answer:	No, it does not come with one, but I installed on myself. Very easy to do. You can get a dust brush on Amazon.

Answer:	My scrub started to leak soap within 6 months of purchase, but I wasn't able to discover the cause right away. Finally found the ever-growing split where the 'push button' attaches to the wand handle. Amazon had none so I emailed Oxo directly. I gave the time line of the failure and cited the poor quality of materials/manufacture as well as the inane 'soap shooting' through/away from the scrub sponge instead of permeating it for efficient use. They ultimately responded and sent a replacement within 2-3 weeks. (Good luck finding replacement scrubbers or sponges, tho)

Answer:	CHECK THE GEAR MESH!!! I have this saw, the mechanical advantage through the worm gear gives that motor 5x torque 5:1.. I just finished playing hell with mine. The brass gear would slip down through the mounting hole causing the gears to mesh too tight. My factory oil/grease could not have been brass colored. To check, simply remove drive belt and spin the drive whee pulley. (It should have very little resistance)

Installed a 6" riser (shop Fox) dumped the blade that came with the unit, as it very inferior and installed a 1/2" timber wolf blade. The unit is very well made, the bearing guides very easy to adjust as needed. I am a woodturner and use the saw mainly to resaw logs into rounds for turning. It has more than enough power to slice 4" maple all day with no problem. With the riser I have cut up to 9+ inches with no problem. This is very good product very good value for money which I highly recommend.

Answer:	The blade itself is not 14 inches. That’s the size of the saw, or in other words the size of the clearance on the saw. The blade measures 120 inches.
Question:	What size of blade 14" does not sound right
Answer:	I can confirm that there is conflicting information in the manual. The power requirements are also inaccurate. So, unfortunately there’s no way to know for sure. What I can say as an able-bodied male is that it is possible to move it around on your own if you have a hand truck or dolly. It was hard, but I wheeled it to the back of my house, walked it slowly down some stairs and got it in place. Definitely advise having an extra set of hands available if possible, though.

Answer:	It comes with one blade but the pitch of the teeth and material of the blade should only be used on wood or plastic. I use 11-14 pitch from Lenox or Starrett and they work great.

Automatic Shutoff

This bandsaw has an automatic shutoff as an added safety feature. The automatic shutoff turns the motor and coolant pump Off at the bottom of the cut.

Blade Guide Scale

The blade guide scale aids in adjusting the guides to the proper distance from the workpiece. Simply loosen the blade guide lock knob and slide the rear blade guide as close to the workpiece as possible, then tighten the knob.

The front blade guide arm features a self-adjusting wire brush that makes contact with the blade to help clear away chips and extend blade life.

Quick Release Vise

The M1054 vise has a quick release feature that allows the jaw width to be quickly adjusted when changing from one sized material to another. Simply turn the vise handwheel to relieve any pressure on the vise jaw, pull or push the jaw to the desired position and tighten the jaw against the workpiece with the handwheel.

The vise can be adjusted to cut any angle from a straight 90 degree cut-off, to a 45 degree angle and features positive stops at 90 and 45-degrees to quickly return the rear jaw to either angle.

Blade Tension Indicator

Proper blade tension is essential to long blade life, straight cuts, and efficient cutting. The M1048 bandsaw features a blade tension indicator to assist you with blade tensioning.

Four Blade Speeds

Model M1048 has four speed settings, 114, 196, 288 and 377 feet per minute. The speed is easily adjusted by moving the V-belt to the desired pulley combination. With the correct blade, feeds and speeds this bandsaw will cut anything from aluminum alloy to stainless tool steel.

Question:	Can this saw also be used in the vertical position, and does it come with a vertical table
Answer:	It's not the saw but the blade you use that cuts the material. This saw can accommodate metal cutting blades and the vertical throat is around 10-12." That being said I wouldn't try much more than 3" x 3" steel bar

Headstock Swivel System

Adjustable Carbide Blade Guides

The adjustable carbide blade guide and side bearings support and twist the blade straight so the blade will enter the workpiece perpendicular to the table surface. The blade guide support bearings prevent blade twist by stopping the blade from being pushed back during a cut and are very easy to set up for accurate cutting operations whenever blade changes require adjustment.

Answer:	one reason, if connected to planer or other rough cutting device, plastic bag would tear on sharp pieces.

Answer:	The W1685 has a power requirement of 110V, Single‐Phase, 60 Hz. It is prewired to 110V and has a full‐load current rating at 16A. The minimum circuit size is 20A.

Question:	Is it easy to move around the shop? I have a concrete floor and want to go back and forth maybe 20 feet. The 1HP unit is supposed to be very mobile. How about this one
Answer:	If you are on concrete, it will be very easy to move around.There are little wheels on it and it rolls very easily with them.I move mine around in my shop on a concrete floor all the time.So you should be able to move it 20' without a problem I would think.

Question:	Product description says this saw has wheels. Another question about using a mobile base....does the stand have wheels or not
Answer:	It does not come with wheels. You have to either add 4 wheels or purchase a mobile base. The trick about adding 4 wheels is that it is difficult to find wheels that can support the weight, but that don't raise the height too much.
