14 best coil roofing nailers
A coil roofing nailer is a specialized power tool used in the construction and roofing industry to efficiently and quickly drive roofing nails into various materials, primarily roof shingles and sheathing. These nailers are designed to save time and effort compared to manual nail driving methods. Here are some key points about coil roofing nailers:
Purpose: Coil roofing nailers are specifically designed for roofing applications. They are used to secure roofing materials like asphalt shingles, wood shakes, and underlayment.
Coil Nails: These nailers use coil nails that are collated in a magazine or coil, hence the name. This design allows for a higher nail capacity, reducing the need for frequent reloading.
Pneumatic or Cordless: Coil roofing nailers can be powered by compressed air (pneumatic) or run on battery power (cordless). Pneumatic models require an air compressor for operation, while cordless models offer greater mobility.
Nail Size: Roofing nails used with these nailers are typically longer and have a larger head than standard nails. This ensures a secure attachment of roofing materials.
Adjustable Depth: Many roofing nailers have an adjustable depth control feature, allowing users to set the nail depth to the desired level. Proper nail depth is crucial to prevent over-driving or under-driving nails, which can affect the integrity of the roof.
Durability: Roofing nailers are built to withstand tough working conditions and are often constructed from durable materials like aluminum or magnesium. They are designed to handle the rigors of outdoor use.
Safety Features: These tools often come with safety features, such as trigger locks and safety guards, to prevent accidental firing.
Comfort and Ergonomics: Manufacturers pay attention to the ergonomics of roofing nailers to reduce user fatigue during extended use. Features like padded grips and adjustable exhaust ports contribute to user comfort.
Maintenance: Regular maintenance, including cleaning and lubrication, is necessary to keep a roofing nailer in good working condition.
Price Range: The cost of roofing nailers varies depending on the brand, model, and features. Cordless models tend to be more expensive than pneumatic ones.
Usage Tips: Users should follow safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses and hearing protection, when operating a coil roofing nailer.Additionally, proper training is essential for safe and efficient use.
In summary, a coil roofing nailer is a power tool designed specifically for attaching roofing materials. These tools are available in both pneumatic and cordless versions, feature adjustable depth settings, and are built to withstand challenging outdoor conditions. Proper use and maintenance are essential for safe and effective roofing projects.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this come with a carrying case |
Answer: | No, sorry. |
Question: | What is the recommended coiled nail brand to use for no jam-ups |
Answer: | Though it’s true, not all coil nails are created the same, as long as they keep there form (don’t get crushed in you pouch or stuff thrown on top of the coil nail box in your truck) you should be more or less fine. The gun you use also makes a difference. I’ve had good success with Max, also bostich. They seem to jam far less and are somewhat easier to unjam than other brands I’ve used, like my dads ridged and porter cable. But remember no gun and no nail brand, even if both Top tier, will be completely jam free. |
Question: | What is the difference between this model and the CN445R model |
Answer: | MAX SuperRoofer is in its third generation - the latest tool is the MAX CN445R3. The CN445R and CN445R2 are older tools. dh |
Question: | Does it work for siding |
Answer: | Most siding guns accommodate a 2 1/4” nail. This gun will hold 3/4”-1 3/4” inch nail. Most hardie type siding requires 1 1/2” in stud so it would work for that type of siding. As far as vinyl it will nail flush and not leave the expansion gap required |

Question: | nails for model r175rne where to buy them |
Answer: | I wish this were an easier answer. Senco has already come out with the generations of Fusion batteries, and not all are compatible. The newest version sells for $99.95, but includes a charger because not all chargers work with all batteries. The newest set of chargers and batteries are the same as Senco Duraspin Tools. Eventually Senco will sell just the battery along for $99.95, but for now be sure to order the battery and charger. If you have further questions, call Ted at 860-289-6861. |

User questions & answers
Question: | CAn this use siding nails |
Answer: | This is built in Taiwan. A Taiwanese company builds the same gun under three different brand names, the Estwing, the NuMax and the Freeman. They are identically featured. I have the Estwing. It came with a nice big storage bag. It nails fine with the 21 degree nails. It is built of magnesium frame which keeps it not so heavy. It has a 60 nail usable clip, but just shove a new one in behind the remaining five and you are ready to go. You need to nail it regularly during the day, keep fairly consistent air supply around 90 lbs. and use an inline filter to keep the crud out of your hoses. Very few jambs other than when air supply was inconsistent. I was able to clear mine but as usual you'll find great help from a local air tool tech very useful. For example my very dependable Makita siding nailer had to be taken apart to clear a badly jammed and bent nail, but no problems since. This Estwing is a replacement for a Taiwanese Craftsman nailer that didn't fail but had the clipped head nail size it used discontinued. The Estwing has a full head nail clip so it is really generic to all nailers. Keep your nails stored in a box so they stay clean and not crudded up from dirt and dust and you should do fine. I liked the little air inlet plastic plug this one uses and it should do fine if kept in that bag they supplied. For the money and a little care this is a great tool! |
Question: | Where are the manufactured |
Answer: | I contacted the seller. They were very helpful. Ultimately I got a nail gun with a fixed angle, and it is simpler and less prone to jamming. |
