13 best coil nail gun

A coil nail gun, also known as a coil nailer, is a power tool commonly used in construction and woodworking for fastening nails quickly and efficiently. It is a type of nail gun that differs from traditional nailers in how it loads and feeds nails. Here's what you should know about coil nail guns:

  1. Nail Collation: Coil nail guns use collated nails, which are nails held together in a long, flexible strip or coil. The nails are connected with adhesive or wire, allowing them to be loaded into the nail gun's magazine in a compact manner.

  2. Continuous Nailing: One of the primary advantages of coil nail guns is their ability to fire nails continuously without the need for frequent reloading. The coiled nail strip can hold a significant number of nails, reducing downtime.

  3. Fast and Efficient: Coil nailers are designed for high-speed nailing operations. They are commonly used in applications where rapid and repetitive nailing is required, such as framing, sheathing, roofing, and siding.

  4. Versatile: Coil nail guns can accommodate a variety of nail lengths and diameters, making them versatile tools for different types of construction and carpentry tasks.

  5. Adjustable Depth: Many coil nailers feature depth adjustment settings, allowing the user to control the nail's depth in the workpiece. This feature is important for achieving the desired level of nail penetration.

  6. Trigger Mechanisms: Coil nail guns typically have two primary trigger modes: sequential and bump (or contact) firing. In sequential mode, the trigger must be pressed for each nail. In bump mode, the trigger can be held down, and nails are fired rapidly when the nose of the gun is pressed against the work surface.

  7. Safety Features: Safety mechanisms, such as trigger locks and nose guards, help prevent accidental firing and protect the user from injuries.

  8. Air-Powered or Cordless: Coil nail guns are available in both air-powered (pneumatic) and cordless (battery-powered) versions. Pneumatic coil nailers require an air compressor, while cordless models offer greater mobility but may have limitations in terms of power and runtime.

  9. Applications: Coil nail guns are commonly used in the construction of wooden structures, including framing, decking, and fencing. They are also suitable for installing sheathing, plywood, siding, and roofing materials.

  10. Maintenance: Regular maintenance, such as cleaning and lubrication, is essential to keep a coil nail gun operating smoothly and to extend its lifespan.

  11. Safety Precautions: Users should follow safety guidelines and wear appropriate protective gear, including safety glasses and hearing protection, when operating a coil nail gun.

Coil nail guns are powerful and efficient tools that can significantly speed up the nailing process in construction and woodworking projects. They are valued for their capacity to hold large quantities of nails and their ability to handle demanding tasks. However, it's important to use them safely and to be aware of their specific features and maintenance requirements to ensure safe and efficient operation on the job site.

User questions & answers

Question: What does this nail gun weigh, unloaded
Answer: These can cut and strip Romex / NM-B
Question: Does this shoot .090 nails
Answer: yes they are
Question: does anyone know how well does it shoot 11/4 nails into cedar shakes
Answer: it works
Question: Will this nailer feed and shoot 1 7/8 aluminum screw shank, plastic collated, Duo-Fast nails
Answer: Yes, as long as the AWG is between 20 and 30. Most communication wire is AWG 24, 26, so it would work. But, it is up to you to know the AWG of the wire you are using. If you use a hole that is too small in the stripper, you could nick the conductor and that would not be good. It's critical the proper AWG hole is used for the AWG wire.

Bostitch

Based on 141 reviews Check latest price

Product description

The product is Coil Frame Nailer. Easy to use. The product is manufactured in Taiwan.

A popular model among builders who work on high-repetition projects like trusses and prefabricated frames, Bostitch's utility coil nailer offers huge capacity and solid reliability. When fully loaded, this nailer certainly isn't the lightest tool you could choose, but when you can drive 300 nails without having to reload, you quickly appreciate the timesaving capacity. With its aluminum housing and composite canister, this gun is a tough piece of equipment, designed to hold up to bumps and falls--the inevitable beating nailers take on a job site. The nailer's aggressive teeth easily grip lumber for toe-nailing. An adjustable deflector conveniently directs exhaust away from the user, and a quick-release canister makes loading new coils a snap. We were impressed with how solid the whole unit feels--it has the burliness of an industrial-strength machine. This model shoots 1-1/2- to 3-1/4-inch, 15-degree, wire-weld-collated, full-head nails, and weighs just over 8 pounds empty. Note: this model does not have adjustable drive depth. --Jonathon Tudor

User questions & answers

Question: can someone explain why the canister adjusts up to 4" nails but, it can only handle up to 3 1/4" nails
Answer: With a noise reduction rating of 21, as compared to the 22 of the popular Peltor TAC 100 model, the RangeGuard offers solid, consistent hearing protection. If you're shooting indoors, using an extremely high caliber weapon, or are surrounded by a significant amount of gunfire, your hearing may be compromised. Outdoor protection is excellent, and under most circumstances you are assured of being fully protected. After over 100 hours of use with the RangeGuard (both indoors and outdoors with a wide variety of firearms), I never experienced any kind of noteworthy shortcomings in the noise reduction of the model. As stated, under some circumstances you may feel the audio coming in a bit louder than you'd like, but the average gun owner will never need a stronger model.
Question: Can I use it for solid hardwood flooring
Answer: Yes, very easily. They even amplify sounds and make them easier to hear (but not loud noises like gunshots). They have a microphone on each earpiece so you can easily distinguish where sounds are coming from.
Question: Is this a good framing nailer
Answer: They'll only "work" if you turn them off. As someone who actually owns these headphones, no - they will not work for lawn mowers. Unless, of course, you turn them off, in which case you're paying a premium for muffs with a microphone and speakers in them. The headphones pick up all outside noise using two forward-facing microphones so that you can "hear" while you're wearing them. The cutoff circuit only engages when it picks up a sudden, sharp noise - like a gunshot, an air nailer, or a hammer blow. Continuous loud noises such as heavy equipment, power tools, saws, airplanes, etc... do not trigger the cutoff and in many instances can *amplify* the noise.

User questions & answers

Question: Where is this made (country
Answer: My local Home Depot did not carry Paslode roofing nails. I had read previous reviews stating you could use other brands of roofing nails. My nailer performed flawlessly. The coils were wound too tight to go straight into the gun, so I loosened the coil and inserted them.
Question: Does this come with a “no mar” tip, if not can I buy one
Answer: Where do I get the belt hook. And how in the hell can Hitachi consider themselves a premium brand and sell a ladder access tool without one? I'm livid.
Question: can i shoot nails on concrete or cement blocks ? for furring strips
Answer: Good morning, We offer a 60 day warranty. After your first 60 days you have a one year from date of purchase directly with Hitachi. Have a great day.
Question: How long is the warranty
Answer: I use it for siding facia and soffit. The nails have to be compatable with the gun. Don't have to be Hitachi brand. lots of generic brands out there

User questions & answers

Question: CAn this use siding nails
Answer: This is built in Taiwan. A Taiwanese company builds the same gun under three different brand names, the Estwing, the NuMax and the Freeman. They are identically featured. I have the Estwing. It came with a nice big storage bag. It nails fine with the 21 degree nails. It is built of magnesium frame which keeps it not so heavy. It has a 60 nail usable clip, but just shove a new one in behind the remaining five and you are ready to go. You need to nail it regularly during the day, keep fairly consistent air supply around 90 lbs. and use an inline filter to keep the crud out of your hoses. Very few jambs other than when air supply was inconsistent. I was able to clear mine but as usual you'll find great help from a local air tool tech very useful. For example my very dependable Makita siding nailer had to be taken apart to clear a badly jammed and bent nail, but no problems since. This Estwing is a replacement for a Taiwanese Craftsman nailer that didn't fail but had the clipped head nail size it used discontinued. The Estwing has a full head nail clip so it is really generic to all nailers. Keep your nails stored in a box so they stay clean and not crudded up from dirt and dust and you should do fine. I liked the little air inlet plastic plug this one uses and it should do fine if kept in that bag they supplied. For the money and a little care this is a great tool!
Question: Where are the manufactured
Answer: I contacted the seller. They were very helpful. Ultimately I got a nail gun with a fixed angle, and it is simpler and less prone to jamming.

User questions & answers

Question: The bullet points to the right of the pic of the nailer says it’s corded electric. Sure looks like an air nailer to me. What gives
Answer: Hello, the 22 inch is the total end to end.
Question: does it come with a case
Answer: You don't need to cut it, you can just leave it 'deployed' or unrolled at a shorter length. Instead of the simple "pull down" spring loaded mechanism, this blind has a plastic 'chain' to the side that you use to raise it up/down. We know this because the first thing we did was pull on the bottom edge of the blind, which only caused it to rip out of the wall. (We now use molly bolts). Hope this helps.
