9 best angled finish nailer
An angled finish nailer is a power tool used in woodworking and carpentry to drive finish nails at an angle into surfaces, typically for attaching trim, moldings, and other finishing materials. These nailers are a valuable addition to any carpenter's toolkit due to their ability to access tight spaces and create a clean, professional finish.
Key features and characteristics of angled finish nailers include:
Angled Magazine: The defining feature of an angled finish nailer is its angled nail magazine. Unlike straight finish nailers, which use a straight magazine, angled finish nailers have a magazine that holds nails at an angle (common angles include 15 to 34 degrees). This design allows for better access to tight corners and spaces.
Versatility: Angled finish nailers are versatile tools that can accommodate different nail lengths, typically ranging from 1 to 2.5 inches. This versatility makes them suitable for a wide range of finishing tasks, from baseboards and crown molding to door and window casings.
Precision: These nailers are known for their precision in nail placement. The angled design helps prevent nail heads from splitting wood and allows for a more secure attachment of trim and moldings.
No-Mar Tips: Many angled finish nailers come equipped with no-mar tips or guards to protect the work surface from scratches or dents caused by the nailer's contact point.
Depth Adjustment: Most models feature a depth adjustment mechanism, allowing you to control how deeply the nails are driven into the material. This is crucial for achieving a flush finish and avoiding over-penetration.
Sequential and Bump Firing Modes: Angled finish nailers typically offer both sequential and bump firing modes. In sequential mode, you must depress the safety tip and trigger separately for each nail, promoting safety and precision. Bump firing allows for faster nailing by simply pressing the nose against the material and pulling the trigger rapidly.
Compressed Air or Cordless: Angled finish nailers are available in both pneumatic (compressed air) and cordless (battery-powered) versions. Pneumatic nailers require an air compressor, while cordless models offer greater mobility and convenience but may have limited runtime.
Maintenance: Regular maintenance, including cleaning and lubrication, is essential to keep an angled finish nailer functioning smoothly and to extend its lifespan.
Safety Features: Safety features such as a trigger lockout and a contact tip that must be pressed against the workpiece before firing help prevent accidental discharge.
Angled finish nailers are essential tools for finish carpenters, contractors, and DIY enthusiasts looking to achieve professional-quality results in their woodworking projects. Their ability to drive nails at precise angles and access tight spaces makes them invaluable for creating a polished and clean finish on various surfaces and trim pieces.

User questions & answers
Question: | Need to replace nail set |
Answer: | Not sure what that means. But don't buy that nail gun! You end up having to set one-third of the nails by hand and that's annoying |
Question: | Will this shoot 16 gauge nails too |
Answer: | No, it is designed for only 15ga nails |
Question: | Anybody has the bare gun weight |
Answer: | Specs say 4 lb but it feels much lighter and has great power. Been a loyal Senco finish nailer user for years but this is a much better nail gun especially for the price. |
Question: | Are these 34* nails hard to find in say, a big box store??? I cant even find them on Amazon and thats my only concern is not finding the right nails |
Answer: | I ordered Senco A302000 15 gauge 2 in. and Senco A302500 15 gauge 2 1/2 in. that work fine. These were recommended by Amazon. Some nail guns are 33 1/3 degree and some are 34 degree. Not much of a difference there. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I need a sequential trigger |
Answer: | If you can get something closer to 58 to 60 that would be good. If that's the only length they have I would get it any way, Its hard to find these blinds in certain lengths. If you don't buy it someone else will. Its 30 days to return, as long as there's no damage from use. |
Question: | What is required CFM |
Answer: | The largest width size we carry is a 48 inch. |
Question: | Will this nailer be good for hanging a pre-hung oak door with oak frame |
Answer: | They are not lined. I was worried about buying these online because I thought the quality might not match some custom shades I had previously had installed in my house (which I paid A LOT more for). The quality of these shades is just as good. Be sure to measure carefully. |
Question: | which nails can be used in this nailer beside porter cable nails |
Answer: | As long as they are not getting directly wet. Humidity is fine. We have solar shades that can get wet if you upgrade to outdoor brackets. |

User questions & answers
Question: | where do you get gas cartridge |
Answer: | I was able to purchase them at Home Depot. The gas cartridge fit multiple models of nail guns. As it had different adaptor heads in the package. They work fine. Sorry, don't remember the brand. |
Question: | Should I buy a 15 or 16 gauge Hitachi Nailer |
Answer: | I would suggest that you go to a local hardware store and take a look at the size of the nails that go into a 15 or 16 or even 18 gauge Nailer. Smaller the number, thicker the nail. So depending on what your need is, your nailer requirement might change. |
Question: | Can this operate with out the gas |
Answer: | This not only canNOT operate without the gas, it does NOT operate WITH. After struggling to get one shot off, I sent it in for servicing at a Hitachi tool repair place. It was returned after 4 or 5 weeks, still inoperable. Save your money, buy a newer style and different make nail gun. |
Question: | Will any pneumatic oil work in place of the Hitachi brand |
Answer: | Good Morning Matt, Hitachi only recommends their brand. We are unable to advise outside of their recommendation. Thanks! |
