14 best new nail guns
New nail guns, including brad nailers, fall under the category of power tools used in construction, woodworking, and home improvement projects. These tools are designed to drive nails or staples into various materials quickly and efficiently. Here is some information about new nail guns and their relevance to power tools and home improvement:
Purpose: Nail guns, including brad nailers, are power tools that simplify the process of fastening nails or staples into wood, metal, or other materials. They are used to save time and effort in tasks like framing, finishing, and installing trim.
Types: There are several types of nail guns, each designed for specific applications. Brad nailers, for example, are known for their ability to drive thin brad nails, making them ideal for delicate finish work and trim installation. Other types include framing nailers, roofing nailers, and finish nailers, each optimized for different tasks.
Brad Nailers: Brad nailers are a type of nail gun that specializes in driving brad nails, which are thinner and smaller than typical nails. They are commonly used for attaching trim, molding, and other decorative elements without causing visible damage to the surface.
Power Source: Nail guns can be powered by electricity, compressed air (pneumatic), or gas (cordless). Electric nail guns are suitable for lighter tasks, while pneumatic models offer more power and are commonly used in construction. Cordless nail guns provide the convenience of portability but may have slightly lower power compared to pneumatic options.
Safety Features: Most nail guns have safety features to prevent accidental firing, such as trigger locks and safety tips that must be pressed against the material before the gun can be activated. These features are crucial for preventing injuries.
Fastening Speed: Nail guns can drive nails or staples at a rapid pace, significantly speeding up the construction or carpentry process. This increased efficiency is a major advantage for professionals and DIY enthusiasts alike.
Depth Adjustment: Many nail guns come with depth adjustment settings, allowing users to control how deeply the nail or staple is driven into the material. This feature ensures that fasteners are flush with the surface or countersunk as needed.
Magazine Capacity: Nail guns typically have a magazine or nail strip that holds multiple fasteners. The capacity of the magazine varies by model, with some holding only a few nails and others accommodating larger quantities.
Maintenance: Regular maintenance is essential to keep nail guns in good working condition. This includes cleaning, lubricating moving parts, and inspecting for wear and tear. Proper maintenance helps extend the tool's lifespan.
Accessories: Nail guns often come with various accessories, such as carrying cases, additional nozzles, or different-sized nail/staple guides, depending on the model and intended use.
In summary, new nail guns, including brad nailers, are versatile power tools commonly used in construction, woodworking, and home improvement projects. They offer speed and precision when fastening nails or staples and come in various types and power sources to suit different tasks. Safety features and maintenance are crucial aspects of using these tools safely and effectively.

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this coil nailer shoot nails with a 3/8" head |
Answer: | Yes, the RN46-1 will shoot roofing nails with a 3/8" head...I think all standard roofing nails have a 3/8" head so any of them from 3/4" to 1 3/4" length should work fine... kd |
Question: | can this gun be used to nail hardie siding |
Answer: | I wouldn't. This gun can only shoot up to 1 3/4" roofing nails. If it were me, I'd get a siding gun and shoot some longer ring shank nails |
Question: | Is this new gun |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | Does it come with any type of warranty besides the one that is being offered |
Answer: | I would check with the seller you plan to purchase from. It varies, depending on the seller. Some may offer 30-day warranties and others may only pass along manufacturer's warranty information. |

User questions & answers
Question: | will it take any brand of nails |
Answer: | I have used two different brands so far. As long as the nails are plastic coated, 21 degree I believe any brand would work. The best prices I have found on nails is at harbor freight. 2500 nails for around $28. I have used 2 1/2" and 3 1/2" |
Question: | How come just below the nailer specs they say "often bought with this product"....22 degree nails....not |
Answer: | I used some of the 22 degree without a problem. I've used Bostich guns for 30 years prior to this gun & this is as good as any I've used.t's a great nailer |
Question: | do the nails have to be plastic coated |
Answer: | Plastic coated? No. But I do believe they have to be Plastic Collated, that is, they need to be bound together with plastic. I'm not sure if paper collated nails will work. |
Question: | What kind of air compressor do you recommend for this nailer |
Answer: | It really depends on how you're using it. If you're intermittently nailing with in and not imitating a machine gun- you can use a pancake or similar small compressor. The working pressure of the nailer is 70-115 PSI. I run mine at 100 PSI. Any portable compressor should be able to hit that pressure. The real question is duty cycle. If you're nailing every few seconds then you'll need a compressor capable of keeping up with the volume of air being consumed OR you'll have to slow down until your compressor stops running before firing the next nail. I run mine on 2 different compressors and don't have any issues- one is a 40 gallon shop compressor- the CFM is infinite compared to the gun. The other compressor is 2.6 CFM. I don't rapid fire when I'm using it and I can fire several nails before the compressor has to cycle. As long as you're not continuing to fire when the compressor is running you should be OK. |

Numax 21º Full Head Framing Nailer
It's time to tackle a new project - and we have just the tool to get it done. The SFR2190 is perfect for framing, but did you know you can also use a framing nailer to install sub-floors, roof decking, wood fencing, sheathing, and more? We designed this nailer with you in mind, so it has all of the premium features you need to get started.
Step 1: Choose Firing Mode
Your framing nailer comes with a black single-fire trigger already assembled. This is the best choice if you haven't used a framing nailer before, or if you want accurate nail placement.
Follow the manual instructions to install the red bump-fire trigger if you want quick successive firing.
Step 2: Connect to Compressor
Set your compressor to 70 PSI and use the quick-connect fitting on your air hose to connect your framing nailer. If you have a really dense material, you can increase the pressure up to 115 PSI.
Put a few drops of oil into the fitting before connecting to a compressor to keep things running smoothly!
Step 3: Load Nails
Pull the side lever back along the magazine until it snaps into place.
Drop the nails into the open channel on the top of the magazine. The angle of the nails should match the angle of the nose of the nailer.
Lift the lever at the back of the magazine to release the side lever and secure the nails.
Step 4: Adjust and Go!
This nailer is loaded with features that let you customize for any project. Change the depth adjust, 360º air exhaust, or remove the no-mar tip for extra holding power.
Pro Tip: Use piece of scrap material to test out your nailer before starting on the real thing!
21º Plastic Collated Full-Head Framing Nails
A 'plastic collated nail' just means that the nails are held together with a thin strip of plastic. They are great for DIY projects because there are no issues with glue or sharp pieces of metal flying around when you're working. We suggest you use 21º nails for the best performance, but the SFR2190 can use any nail from 20º - 22º. The magazine fits nails from 2" to 3-1/2" long and is compatible with any generic brand, which is perfect if you have nails left over from other projects! If you don't have any leftover nails, we've listed some fasteners here that have worked for our customers in the past.

User questions & answers
Question: | How does this perform on solid hardwood like oak or maple? My 18g Paslode performs great but I'm tired of fuel cells, and expensive repairs |
Answer: | How much do you spend on repairs and fuel cells? do the math and see if it make sense for you. There is no ongoing cost for this exept nails and it seems to work pretty good, Im sure it would preform well on solid hardwood (it will go through a formica countertop no problem and into wood below it). It's a semi precision tool and it wont take much abuse, but overall it really has alot more power than i thought it would. I'd say go for it. |
Question: | What kinda nails does it use, e.g. Bostitch, Freeman, etc |
Answer: | I cannot get my 320 to work with Porter Cable 16 gauge x 2" "Straight Finish Nails." They have a slight "head" to the nail and it seems to stop the gun from working. I've tried adjusting the pressure with no effect. |
Question: | which battery and why doesn't Amazon have a link for that under Frequently bought together |
Answer: | I don't know how you can do the whole house with one battery, I change batteries every 10 minutes, I would like to know what battery you have so I can order it |
Question: | Will it work with 16D framing nails |
Answer: | No it will not. It only works with 18 gauge straight brads. Ignore stop_go_boom's response, as the P325 uses 16 gauge brads, and 16 gauge is not the same as 16D. Look for a framing nailer. This is more suited to light trim work. |
Question: | What power does this brad nailer run on |
Answer: | This nailer runs on Ryobi 18v one+ battery. |
Question: | can you used it for framing |
Answer: | Not for Framing this is a finish nailer |
Question: | Can you adjust for the depth the nail goes into the wood |
Answer: | Yes. There is a dial which works easily. I love this brad nailer! |
Question: | Can you adjust for the depth the nail goes into the wood |
Answer: | After speaking with the vendor, They confirmed that you can adjust nails anywhere between 5/8 - 2 in. What you would do is dial the knob that's on the right side of the tool. |

Answer: | No, the battery was not included. |
Question: | What is max nail length |
Answer: | The Dewalt brad nailer shoots brads from 5/8” up to 2-1/8”. Hope this helps. |
Question: | Does anybody know which dewalt nailer would be a good all around gun for trim to framing in one |
Answer: | Unfortunately, there is no such gun made. By any manufacturer. A nail that would be strong enough for framing, would absolutely destroy trim pieces. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is it brushless |
Answer: | I believe that it is brushless. I have 2 of the nail guns and they are great. Works fast and sets the nails ever time. Battery lasts a long time as well. |
Question: | Just got the nail gun. somehow it jammed as soon as placed brads in it. it seems to flip the brad. how is that possible? not happy i'm wasting brads |
Answer: | Ummm, yes, this is a finish nailer, big difference from a brad nailer. Make sure you are using 16 gauge 20 degree nails, not 15 gauge, and definitely not 18 gauge brads. This is a great nailer, but I'm not tossing out my Bostitch air nailers to replace it! This is a great supplement to the air nailers for small jobs that only last a day or so. |
Question: | Have they sorted out the Low nail depth issue yet? After some use my contractors say it wont Drive 2-1/2 nails |
Answer: | This is my second Dewalt finish nailer and I have never had any issues with it not driving 2 1/2" nails. That being said, if you are driving several 2 1/2 nails then you need to make sure you are working with a fully charged battery. I have noticed that if the battery gets to a 1/3 charge it will not drive 2 1/2" nails as deep. It also depends on the type of wood (hard or soft). |
Question: | Can this be used for blind nailing tounge and groove paneling |
Answer: | Yes but don't waste your money if you plan on using this gun a lot. I've had mine in the shop 3 times in the year I've owned it. Buy the 18 volt version is more powerful and breaks way less. I've used mine for the last 6 years at least. This new gun will not even drive 2 1/2" nails consistently through soft wood let alone any hard wood. |

User questions & answers
Question: | This nail gun is for 21 degrease. ? Or for the convencional framing nails |
Answer: | 21° and 30° are both conventional framing nails. But this is a 21° nailer. |
Question: | Just to make sure, the cordless nail only does bring a battery, fast charger, bag, and safety glasses |
Answer: | Yes, and an M5 Allen Wrench. The Fast Charger is the UC18YFSL and it will charge the 3.0 Ah battery in 45 min. There is a Rapid Charger (UC18YSL3) that charges the same battery in 30 min. |
Question: | Garantia pistola |
Answer: | We offer a 60 day warranty. Hitachi offers a one year from date of purchase. All warranty issues after the first 60 days must go directly through Hitachi. Have a great day. |
Question: | Will this gun dry fire? I just bought it and charged the battery but it doesnt fire. Does it have to have nails in it to fire |
Answer: | No it will not, nor should you try to dry-fire a nail gun. It's generally very bad on the tool. It requires about three or four nails in it to fire, depending on the size of the nail. Which means that once you us it, the gun is NOT EMPTY just because it won't fire the last nail or two; there is every chance that if you drop it or kick it out of the way it will manage to fire one of the remaining nails. Always treat this nail gun and any other nail gun like it's ready to fire. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you use this nail finisher for outside fencing? Or is it just for crown molding and trim |
Answer: | 6' Cedar privacy fence...no. But picket, or redwood (3.5" or 5.5" boards) where you want a clean finish...absolutely! Note, a 15-gauge is as small as you'd want to go where finish-nailers are concerned. To add strength to your nailed boards, shoot the nails in at slight, opposing angles--not straight in. This will provide a substantially stronger hold. Also, to maximize hold, adjust the nail depth so that the nail head sits flush with the board. Counter-sinking the nail too much will weaken the hold strength. |
Question: | Tweeters and integrated subwoofer??? Might want to double check the description |
Answer: | Yes, it does chirp nicely as you hammer away, but I don’t think it’s from tweeters. |
Question: | how powerful are the subwolfers |
Answer: | The wolves are super strong! |
Question: | Will someone alert the seller to update their description? I seriously doubt this nailer has an integrated subwoofer |
Answer: | Hahaha, integrated Bluetooth speakers in your finish nailer ... 🤔 |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can someone recommend an air compressor that would power this nailer? I don't know a lot about tools and don't want to buy larger than i need |
Answer: | : A Husky 4 gallon portable will run three of these nailers. I believe it cost me $250.00. It's pretty quiet. Both of these cost less than a battery one |
Question: | What is the difference between 18 gauge brad nailer and 16 gauge finishing nailer? I need to install trim, build bookcase and install decking floor |
Answer: | Brad nails are formed from a fine 18 gauge wire, while finish nails are made from heavier 16 or 15 gauge wire. Finish nails are the correct choice for fastening larger crown and baseboard trim, brad nails are used to install smaller trim to help prevent splitting and to promote a cleaner looking job with less touch-up work after the nailing is done. |
Question: | Would I need to purchase anything else (battery) in order to use? I know absolutely NOTHING about power tools |
Answer: | Hello, Thank you for writing ACME Tools. The DWFP12231 Brad Nailer is a Pneumatic tool so you will have to use an Air Compressor and a hose with the proper fittings. Other than that, this unit is very straight forward and easy to use. |
Question: | what is the voltage |
Answer: | The voltage is 765 kV and it is also powered by two Siemens & Halske alternators rated 30 hp (22 kW), 2 kV at 120 Hz and uses 200 series-connected Gaulard 2-kV/20-V step-down transformers provided with a closed magnetic circuit, one for each trigger. Hope this helps. |
